Doctor Who has snapped up the ruthless star of The Apprentice and the esteemed physicist, both of whom will guest star as themselves in the seventh series’ fourth episode.
When “The Power of Three” sees the Earth invaded by strange black cubes, a stumped Professor Brian Cox is interviewed by the BBC news, Doctor Who TV reports. Lord Sugar will later appear in a segment of The Apprentice, in which he is disappointed by the results of a cube themed task.
Both incredibly recognizable faces of British television, Cox and Sugar may be a mystery to international readers. The former is a noted physicist and television personality, having created several documentaries on space including “Stargazing Live.” Alan Sugar is a self made multimillionaire, who now pulls the strings of the United Kingdom Apprentice, regularly firing contestants.
It’ll be interesting to see television style skits being used in Doctor Who again – though they were a staple of Russel T. Davies’ tenure on the show, they’ve been noticeably lacking since Steven Moffat took up the reins. “The Power of Three” will be the penultimate episode for Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, who will bow out as Amy and Rory Pond in “The Angels Take Manhattan.”
Written by Chris Chibnall and guest starring Jemma Redgrave and Steven Berkoff alongside lead Matt Smith, “The Power of Three” airs on Sept. 22 in the United Kingdom, United States and Canada.
