Today NBC announced three new cast members joining the 38th season of Saturday Night Live, which is set to premiere Saturday, September 15.
Aidy Bryant, Tim Robinson, and Cecily Strong are the new funny people coming on board. All are relative unknowns and have been involved with the sketch comedy and improv group Second City.
As announced a couple weeks ago, Seth MacFarlane will host the premiere episode and be joined by musical guest Frank Ocean. Joseph Gordon-Levitt will host the September 22 episode with Mumford & Sons performing. The following week, Daniel Craig helms with Muse.
Saturday Night Live cast members Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, and Abby Elliott all departed at the end of season 37. It was rumored that Jason Sudeikis would also leave, but that no longer appears to be the case. Good thing, as Sudeikis has been portraying Governor Romney.
The show has been a long running staple of NBC and tends to do best during election seasons for its timely and relevant spins on politicians. This season, you can bet you’ll be seeing many President Obama and Governor Romney spoofs.
Will you be tuning into Saturday Night Live this season, or has the departure of big players in recent years made you lose interest in the show?
