Tickets for J.K. Rowling’s signing event at New York City’s Lincoln Center went on sale 12 hours early at 10 p.m. on Sept. 9. Since then, fans have been wondering if the tickets they purchased will be honored at the Oct. 16 event. Lincoln Center has just posted an update to help clarify the situation.

There were to be approximately 1,200 tickets sold for the Casual Vacancy event, and the statement issued by Lincoln Center admits to the mistake, and implies that some seats were in fact double-booked. However, the venue says that “arrangements may be made to honor each ticket purchased,” and promises to offer an update soon.

When Hypable contacted the book’s publisher, Little Brown, on Monday morning, we were told that our information was “incorrect” and no tickets had gone on sale Sunday night. However, hundreds of fans, including several Hypable staff memebers, purchased tickets and received confirmation emails. The next morning, tickets went on sale — online, by phone and at the box office — as scheduled at 10 a.m. ET. Those tickets sold out before noon, although some fans were able to purchase online tickets again around 1:30 p.m.

UPDATE 5 (Sept. 12, 10:30 a.m.): We received an official statement which matches what we told you yesterday in our 5 p.m. update. You can read it below:

On Sunday, September 9, Jazz at Lincoln Center’s ticketing system was breached and an unauthorized link to purchase tickets to the J.K. Rowling The Casual Vacancy event on October 16 was distributed online. This breach did not result in the breach of purchasers’ personal information. In order to accommodate customers who purchased tickets on September 9 as well as customers who purchased tickets on September 10, Jazz at Lincoln Center has secured the David H. Koch Theater at 20 Lincoln Center as the new location for the event. Each customer who purchased tickets prior to the official on-sale date and time will be contacted directly by Jazz at Lincoln Center to process tickets for the event at the new location. The event remains sold out. At this time, only customers who purchased tickets on September 9 and 10 will be accommodated. Although neither Little, Brown and Company nor J.K. Rowling are responsible for this situation they were keen to make sure that no person who legitimately bought a ticket was left disappointed, and are delighted this matter has been resolved in this way and apologize for any confusion that may have been caused in the meantime. Jazz at Lincoln Center apologizes too for any inconvenience and looks forward to welcoming everyone to the David H. Koch Theater on October 16.

UPDATE 4 (Sept. 11, 5 p.m.): We just got off the phone with the Lincoln Center and have solid answers. We were read aloud an internal e-mail stating that the event will move to the David H. Koch Theater at 20 Lincoln Center. ALL tickets purchased September 9 and 10 WILL be honored. The move to the larger theater is to accommodate the larger-than-planned audience. Obviously, you will not have the same exact seat that’s currently noted on your ticket. We’re aware there are other questions and we hope to have them answered in due time.

UPDATE 3 (Sept. 11, 3:30 p.m.): The next statement from Lincoln Center could now arrive as late as 10 p.m. tonight or even early tomorrow morning, customer service representatives have begun telling customers. The delay is because they’re trying to “please everyone,” one Hypable staffer was told when calling the venue. From the sound of the conversation, the Lincoln Center is trying to resolve this in a way that will keep them from voiding any tickets.

UPDATE 2 (Sept. 11, noon): If you purchased your tickets on Monday, a box office employee at Lincoln Center told Hypable, you “more than likely” will have no problems using them. The fans who purchased tickets on Sunday, however, may encounter trouble, the customer service employee confirmed. More information will be available on the Jazz at Lincoln Center around 3 PM ET today, the box office rep told a Hypable reporter, who called as a customer, not a member of the press. We’ll update this story when the statement is made.

UPDATE: As of Tuesday morning, the statement on the Jazz at Lincoln Center website changed from “due to technical difficulties,” and now reads “due to a security breach.”

The full statement, via the Jazz at Lincoln Center website, reads:

Due to technical difficulties on the ticketing website, tickets for the J. K. Rowling event on 10/16/12 were made available prematurely at 10 pm on September 9th. Tickets then went on sale at the previously announced time of 10 am on September 10th. Jazz at Lincoln Center is in the process of investigating how this occurred and what arrangements may be made to honor each ticket purchased, and will provide an update as quickly as possible. Neither JK Rowling nor Little Brown and Company are responsible for this situation. Jazz at Lincoln Center apologizes for any inconvenience.

Calls throughout the day to Lincoln Center provided no concrete answers. Some representatives said that the tickets would be honored, while others were unsure and a few said that the Sunday night purchases were invalid. We’re glad to finally be getting an official statement from Lincoln Center, and we’ll keep you updated as more information is released. Hopefully the venue will make it so that everyone who purchased one of the $43 online tickets will be able to attend an event with J.K. Rowling.

What do you think of this whole debacle? How did you buy tickets?

  • http://twitter.com/Neela149 Tova Rich

Oh please no!!!!!! I bought mine Sunday night…

  • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

This is absolutely absurd and ridiculous.

  • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

Um, YES IT IS your issue because you don’t make a press release and blame computers and just be like, “oops!” Something tells me there are going to be a ton of furious fans by tomorrow.

  • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

What I’m curious about is how someone managed to find that link last night, since the event wasn’t even posted on the jalc site until today. If that link had never been shared, then none of this would be happening.

Frankly, I’m just tired of this back-and-forth between feeling excited and worried. Last night it took me over an hour to buy my ticket and once I did I was so happy, but now I’m back to being stressed out because I don’t know if my ticket is valid. Lincoln Center better honor all purchases because it’s not our fault they had technical difficulties. I bought my ticket fair and square, and I expect to be able to attend this event.

    • icestudent

I think it went up in the ticket area of the site, so if one fan happened to check it and see it up, everyone found out.

      • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

The only way to buy tickets on that site is to go to the event calendar and click on an event. I checked last night, and the event hadn’t been posted… so I don’t understand how someone found that link.

        • icestudent

Oh, that’s strange. Someone went looking? It may have shown up in a search someone did, or maybe it was added to the site map…who knows?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1128995453 Lauren Spellman

I bought tickets online this afternoon. I have a confirmation number, and what seats I’m in. If they honor each ticket in some way that every person who purchased them is able to attend the event, I will be fine. But until then, this will be added stress on
top of everything! I wonder what Jo is thinking about all of this..

  • http://twitter.com/boushh2187 boushh2187

They should have dealt with it before the tickets went on sale in the morning if it was a mistake. I got mine on Sunday night and I wasn’t about to purchase again on Monday morning just in case. Hopefully it will all work out.

  • http://www.facebook.com/kdetato Kym Detato

They better honor my tickets as they already took my money…..oh I will freak out….

  • adice

Bought tickets last night as soon as I saw the tweet, received a confirmation email and paid. They don’t seem to understand that this is a once in a lifetime event for fans. What a total disaster. I’m planning on leaving the country and dropping everything in the middle of the week for this, and the fact that I don’t know anymore if I can continue making plans is unbelievably frustrating.

  • http://twitter.com/PteradactylCat Cat Koski

I feel like they’ll honor the Sunday tickets with signed copies of the book, and nothing else. I don’t what that to happen, but it’s a possibility I’m sure is coming up in whatever discussions are being had.

    • http://twitter.com/smaloy Sarah Maloy

If that is a solution being tossed around, it would need to be a signed copy AND a full refund, in my opinion.

      • juliana

i agree. it would be ridiculous if we went through all this, didnt get to go and they kept our money

      • hpboy13

Screw that, it would need to be like a signed and personalized set of HP books in addition to that and a refund. There is no such thing as compensation for not meeting JKR.

        • http://forgiveyourmind.tumblr.com/ Tariq

Think of the strain that a personalized set of HP books would put on JK, though. That’s way too much to ask of that woman, as this isn’t HER fault.

But I agree. Signed book & refund at least!

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1128995453 Lauren Spellman

Which tickets do you think they would honor though if they decide to do this? Would those bought today get to go, and Sunday get a signed copy, or vice versa?

          • fantastyfreak

That is the issue with doing that, the scheme ends up screwing over one group of fans who bought tickets like everyone here.

          • fantastyfreak

The ideal is trying to find a way to accommodate everyone (that’s my best wish, it might not be realistic sadly….)

          • http://forgiveyourmind.tumblr.com/ Tariq

Hopefully a two-night event will clear this up.

          • http://twitter.com/smaloy Sarah Maloy

That option would be fantastic, but it will seriously depend on Jo’s generosity and her schedule.

          • http://forgiveyourmind.tumblr.com/ Tariq

I want to say they’ll probably honor tickets only sold on Monday and not Sunday evening, but I’m not sure.

I would definitely hope that the sunday evening tickets are valid though because that’s what I have! :P

    • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

I think the best solution for this is to find a bigger venue. Lincoln Center has a lot of theaters – if only they can find a bigger one that’s not being used that night. This event is supposed to be general admission anyway – at least that’s what they said when I emailed them, and that usually means that seating is first-come, first served – so if they find a bigger venue it’s not like they have to worry about seat numbers.

      • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

        This, this, this.

        • http://twitter.com/smaloy Sarah Maloy

I agree, this sounds like the best solution… You know people are going to be complaining because they had row AA or whatever and get bumped in a bigger theater, but I still think this option would result in the least amounts of anger.

      • http://twitter.com/mattwiz13 Matthew Carenza

This is exactly what I’ve been thinking about all day. NYC is huge, I’m sure they could easily find another venue that seats more people. Even if it means JALC will lose money; who cares? Also, they could even make it a two night event. What would be so difficult about that? They screwed up, and everyone who bought a ticket deserves to meet J.K. Rowling.

        • http://twitter.com/PteradactylCat Cat Koski

I like the bigger venue idea and it’s IMO the best solution. What would be difficult about making a two night event is that there is probably a set schedule they’re trying to keep, as she does have other interview apts.

          • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

(And probably needs to sleep, at some point.)

      • nova

I didn’t even think of that. It’s pretty brilliant if the logistics of it could work.

      • nova

Although I would point out that it would still require JK Rowling to sign twice as many books. That’s a lot to ask of somebody’s wrist.

        • http://twitter.com/smaloy Sarah Maloy

I don’t THINK they fully sold twice as many seats… It seems like they probably double-booked, at most, a few hundred seats.

          • nova

I hope that’s the case! If it is it makes the problem trickier than it’s been in my mind, though. If they only double booked a few hundred seats then they can’t just completely renege on purchases made Sunday night with refunds, which I thought was going to happen for most of the day. This event is making my head spin and stomach twist!

          • http://twitter.com/smaloy Sarah Maloy

At first, I just though they had published the ticket link, planning to add it to the main page the next morning, not realizing that anyone could find it before then. At that point, I figured all tickets would be valid, but they would be like “shucks, you kids tricked our system.” But with the statement LC released, it sounds as if there are too many tickets sold… but the overlap would theoretically only be whichever tickets were sold at night. Even if every one of those tickets did sell out both Sunday night and Monday morning, that’s still not the whole event, it’s just the “online” block that’s double-booked. (Meaning an overlap of maybe 500 at the most… although it seemed like they caught the glitch and turned the system off last night, so it could be even less.)

          • nova

ah, logic. a beautiful thing. That does make loads of sense.

          • http://twitter.com/smaloy Sarah Maloy

Glad it made sense :) I was starting to feel like I was rambling a bit there at the end!

      • JM

Well I hope we all get to go. I got my confirmation and seat numbers.

    • nova

I was thinking the same thing all day. I’m interested to see what they do because any solution that people will find satisfactory will involve JK Rowling, and their statement clearly states that its not her or the publisher’s fault. While we are all bashing on JALC (who totally deserve it), it seems to me that any good solution is going to really depend on the generosity and understanding of JK Rowling herself. All Lincoln Center can really do is give us our money back at the end of the day.

    • http://twitter.com/edclipse Edward Sam

If we paid the same price of admission as everyone else, we should get to meet Jo like everyone else. It was in no way our fault that there was glitch in the ticketing system/mismanagement by the staff.

  • http://forgiveyourmind.tumblr.com/ Tariq

They have some serious compensating to do for those who might not have receive their tickets despite having money taken out of their account.

  • hpboy13

This is an unbelievable disgrace. I camped out since Friday, got tickets online. I think they’re only blaming the computers publicly, and heads will definitely be rolling at JALC all week… as they should.

As a more positive aside: THANK YOU, Hypable, for covering this. It was an unspeakable comfort in this dreadful time to know there’s one place where all the information will be available. I really can’t express my gratitude for this thorough coverage.

    • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

Yeah seriously, thank you Hypable. Even though I’m stressed out/angry/worried, it’s comforting to know that everyone else is in the same boat as I am, and that fans can discuss what’s going on here.

      • http://twitter.com/smaloy Sarah Maloy

As you can see by this comments section, the Hypable staff is as annoyed by this as you guys! We bought tickets too and want to make sure they’re honored… so we’re definitely following this situation closely and reporting on everything we know :)

        • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

Keep calm… and wands at the ready.

          • fantastyfreak

I love you Hypable!! Honestly, this is where I’ll stick around for honest reporting for nerd-related events. All the Sheldons of the world love this page!

          • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

            Amazing.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Maria-Wang/542480760 Maria Wang

well somebody made a royal mess up

  • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

Somebody stop this ticketing roller-coaster, I want to get off.

  • fantastyfreak

This morning, I was flustered by the fact that only a small group of people knew about the early release. I’ve never been on Hypable, but this debacle has gotten me slightly addicted to the page: that is the consolation for all the stress/anxiety we’re all feeling from this chaos. I really hope its all sorted out, and I was lucky to get one of the 1:30pm tickets today. I am worried that those will be “invalidated:” that is why I think doing that is extremely unfair. Either way, it will piss people off heavily! No ideal method of sorting this out should involve leaving anyone who purchased their tickets in a legitimate fashion out of it. I especially feel bad for those who camped out since Friday!! (Wow…you deserve to keep your seats in particuliar

  • http://www.hypable.com/author/lauracristiano/ LauraBC

The sad fact of the matter is that these venues do not have software suited to deal with massive these events. Instead of letting someone renting their venue deal with an outside vendor like Ticket Master that can deal with this type of thing, they leave it to the local staff and online systems, both of which are ill equipped tot handle the barrage of an event of this magnitude! Honestly it’s stunning to think on any level the lack of information coming out of the Little Brown website prior to the event such as a basic link to the correct site. It was only a reference to the Little Brown Twitter! At what point did they think that the only US signing with the best selling author of the 20th century was going to be a small event? We saw this with Doctor Who NYC screening and the debacle that was the BBC America/Ziegfield system and now we have it repeating at Lincoln Center. It makes one wonder when their learning curve will catch up.

    • LizH

Exactly. This is the sort of thing that makes Ticketmaster worth the fee. You don’t put the mall security guard in charge of the president’s safety and you don’t stick JK Rowling tickets on a website that can’t handle the traffic.

I’m guessing Jazz at Lincoln Center often puts event tickets up the night before and then waits to add the link to the events page at the correct time the next day. That probably works fine for jazz concerts, but not for one of the biggest fandoms in the U.S. Someone obviously spidered/hacked the site and found the tickets early, but I still don’t understand how they could end up double-sold.

      • http://twitter.com/smaloy Sarah Maloy

There was an $8 per ticket fee on these, so really the Ticketmaster fees aren’t so bad! (Edited because I can’t do math, apparently.)

      • http://www.hypable.com/author/lauracristiano/ LauraBC

        Excellent analogy!

  • LizH

I bought tickets around 10:50 a.m. today (Monday) after missing out Sunday night and kicking myself. To prevent the tickets from being lost in the mail, I chose will-call. Now I’m worried that someone else with the same seat may go and pick up the tickets first. Here’s hoping for a solution that accommodates everyone! I’ll be waiting to make hotel arrangements until then.

    • http://twitter.com/smaloy Sarah Maloy

I’m having the opposite paranoia — that opting to have my tickets mailed gives them more time to change something and yank them away from me.

      • LizH

Aww. How sad is it that after successfully stalking ourselves tickets, we still need to stress over it!!

  • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

Breaking: HARRY POTTER fans across the tri-state area are being diagnosed with stress-related ulcers. Unconfirmed reports have patients applying to Lincoln Center for reparation of damages. We will keep you updated on this story as it, and the ulcers, develop. Back to you, Sandy.

    • hpboy13

No seriously, I am amazed I’ve not gotten a heart attack in the last 30 hours. I’ll ask in Business Law class tomorrow how much you can sue for where emotional distress is concerned.

    • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

Also “JK Rowling nor Little Brown are responsible for said ulcers.”

  • Mon

I purchased my ticket last night after camping out. I called in to customer service around 1pm today to ask about my seat location, and the guy I spoke with told me my seat location and number. So at some point I definitely had a seat reserved in my name.
The best option for customers would be to move the event, but that would also be the least likely since they’d have to find an open location with that much space and LC would have to be willing to lose money for messing up. The other fair option would be to cancel ALL tickets and re-hold sales on another day and actually be prepared.
I’m just really frustrated (along with everyone else) with how this entire event was handled. I don’t understand how Lincoln Center could think it was fine to leave their staff so in the dark through this whole process to the point where every person calling in got different information. I honestly wouldn’t have minded if they cancelled Sunday tickets if they had done it early this morning and then called and emailed each person to alert them that they’ll need to repurchase at the 10am time slot.
How did this link even get out? I’m so confused about that.
On a lighter note, thank you Hypable staff for following this story so closely!

    • nova

I literally could have written that myself because I agree with every character that was typed! Of course, on second thought, I don’t know how fair it would be to the people who camped out to start the process all over again.

      • hpboy13

There’s really no more “fair” in this situation – someone is getting screwed over any way you look at it. Ideally, LC will get screwed over, since it’s their fault. Jo definitely will, she has to sign way more books now and everything. But as for the fans… I think the only solution is to honor everyone’s tickets somehow, because of all the headache and work that went into getting them. All the people who camped out got tickets online, but I would not want to take them away from those who got them at 10am since it was a lucky fluke that we got them.

    • KitKat

It’s good to hear that you had confirmed seating! That at least proves our tickets as “valid.” (I got one last night, too.)

  • njandro625

The obvious solution is that Jo just comes to every state and signs all the books…and writes an encyclopedia.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=607519910 Catherine Lai

    It’s exactly like LeakyCon London

  • Julie L

Best of wishes for EVERYONE who got tickets! I may not be apart of this drama (disadvantages of the west coast) But I would be outraged to have bought tickets and told I could not meet JK Rowling. Yeah a signed book and a full refund would be nice, but i agree with many fans that meeting JKR is priceless. I really hope they are able to find a bigger venue and give everyone who paid the opportunity to meet JKR.

  • http://www.hypable.com/author/lauracristiano/ LauraBC

Near as I can tell Avery Fisher Hall, which is at the Lincoln Center complex, does not have an event that evening. They would be more than capable of housing a 1,200 ticket event as their orchestra seating is roughly 1600 people. They also broadcast live events from there all the time so that angle could be handled as well. Perhaps Lincoln Center could offer that venue instead.

    • Mon

This is what they should do, but we’ll see what they will do. I’ll be livid if they cancel anyone’s tickets while having an option like holding the even at Avery Fisher Hall is still available. Thanks for taking the time to look that up!

    • icestudent

I totally agree with this idea! I just think they need to figure out something, because it really is a one time deal for people, and a lot of people didn’t try to get tickets today because we assumed we already had tickets, and were set. It’s really not fair to blame that on the people who bought the tickets!

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

that would be perfect!! i think switching venues solves everyones problems because if anyone is refunded there will be issues from whoever gets refunded, etc.

  • Peg

JKR is all over the Hypable headlines right now. If she isn’t already, she could easily be her own hub.

  • icestudent

What confuses me is how long it took for them to realize what had happened. Honestly, they should have known about the glitch from the moment they walked into their office and checked the ticketing website, and never double sold in the first place. Lots of places and time in here for this screw up to be fixed, they just didn’t. If they had told fans this before tickets went on sale yesterday, it would not have been an issue, and no one would care what they did, because we could rebuy the tickets. But now, the event is sold out, and they have a giant mess.

    • Sarah

I agree. I find the mishap to have been shockingly mishandled — not the initial glitch itself (mistakes happen) so much as the handling of the situation post-glitch. Why weren’t the early purchasers notified of the problem? Why were tickets double-booked at all when the Lincoln Center was already aware that a problem had occurred the night before? Such a mess.

      • icestudent

Agreed. Also, the amount of misinformation being thrown around by different people working there really did not help them. I have to say, for a venue that should be used to handling big events, when things went wrong, they really failed to help make things as easy as possible for people. I’m still confused about how their ticket system even let them double book like that, because the tickets that were bought online in the glitch should have been taken out of the ticket count by the software they were using. It seems the people who work there just went into meltdown mode.

        • Sarah

This is speculative, but I don’t *think* the double-booking was caused by their site (as you say, such would be surprising) … what I’m guessing is that they decided to “re-sell” tickets that were caused by the initial glitch. This would explain how they suddenly had a new batch of tickets to sell online in the late afternoon. If I am correct (I hope I’m not), this was a MAJOR FAIL on the Lincoln Center’s behalf and will prove, I think, to have been a terrible mistake.

          • Sarah

But I very possible could be getting WAY ahead of myself. There may no point to speculating like this, so don’t put too much stake in what I’ve said.

          • icestudent

I agree that I don’t think the double booking was caused by the site. The other thing that may have happened is they restarted their system at some point, and it managed to screw up with the orders that were placed Sunday night, and the orders placed throughout Monday. I also find those tickets that were sold around 1 very strange, although they may have just added some tickets that they had kept for box office sales to the website, because they had them. Out of curiosity, did your ticket say if you were in the Orchestra, Mezz, or Balcony? Because mine didn’t, and I think that this could also be causing some of the confusion.

          • Sarah

I bought my ticket online today and it doesn’t tell me where my seat is located (I have my box and seat number, but that’s it).

          • Mon

This is what happened with me too, but when I called in this afternoon they looked up my name and told me exactly which seat I had.

          • icestudent

I need to call tomorrow, I called today at 4:15, and it went to the message thing.

          • Sarah

That’s somewhat reassuring … the problem at this point is that we have no idea what JALC will decide to do. They may reveal that there were several glitches (maybe some of the online tickets today aren’t valid), they may refund everyone’s tickets, they may allow everyone to attend … I guess the best thing I can do at this point is try to get some good sleep and hope that I wake up to a positive email.

          • icestudent

I have the same. I just have a row and seat number, but not the area it is located in. I wonder if this is causing more issues for them.

  • Sarah

Something of potential note: I encountered very disorganized and misinformed Lincoln Center staff before this debacle. I called the Lincoln Center earlier this week to ask what time the tickets would go on sale, and was told by a grumpy employee that tickets would be available on Monday at 10am, but ONLY by phone or in-person. I mentioned that I had heard that tickets would be available online, and she told me that that was incorrect. Really, how ridiculous — especially after everything that’s happened. The staff should have been prepped on procedure before the ticket sale began, and they should have been prepped on what to say SINCE this debacle began. The staff have given callers such a variety of answers to the same question: ARE OUR TICKETS VALID? The managerial staff certainly could have handled this entire situation more deftly.

    • icestudent

I dealt with this as well. When I called, they could not tell me where I would be able to find the online tickets, or if they even really had the tickets online! They can’t blame people for buying the tickets when they went on sale, given how little information anyone was given on the event.

      • http://www.hypable.com/author/lauracristiano/ LauraBC

Little Brown, even though they were not directly responsible to the ticket snafu, shares in this blame. It was simply unacceptable to have none of this information on their website. They booked this event, they should have known exactly how when and where the purchasing would take place. They didn’t even have so much as a link to the Lincoln Center site up. Rowling is making several appearance in the UK where the information is clearly disseminated. What a slap in the face to the fans of Rowling and Rowling herself not to provide this. It reflects poorly on the organization at Little Brown.

        • http://twitter.com/edclipse Edward Sam

Yeah, they should have AT LEAST told all of the staff the right information that they were supposed to tell customers.

  • Mon

Yesterday I couldn’t sleep because I was so happy and excited, tonight I can’t sleep because I’m frustrated and anxious.

  • lostfringie

I just can’t believe all of this nonsense. I was able to get two tickets yesterday by calling in and my purchase was confirmed around 10:30 a.m. However, just to share how unaware the JALC was…I called the Friday prior to ask about when the tickets go on sale, etc. The rep that I spoke with barely had a clue. I asked the rep where the section was on the website for the event b/c I couldn’t find it, and the rep said it is there, gave me the link, and while it wasn’t listed, the rep insisted it was in the calendar of events. It wasn’t…I also asked if there was a ticket limit on how many each person can purchase and the rep told me no, there was no limit and I could purchase as many I wanted. I said, “really? no limit on this event?” And the rep said no, why would there be…..!!! This was the Friday before tickets went on sale…seriously, the staff at the JALC didn’t know the details and were not prepared for the biggest fandom in the world.

  • Mandy

I’m still frantic over this. I keep refreshing this page and checking my email every five minutes in case we find out something more.

  • adice

am i imagining things or did the message for the customer service line yesterday say they opened at 8:00 and today it is suddenly 11:00

    • Liz

I thought it was 9. I was thinking the same exact thing. Maybe they are working on some kind of deal and they don’t want people calling and bothering them?

      • adice

hopefully! although making everyone just sit around and panic isn’t that helpful either.

    • Mandy

They told me 11 yesterday when I called. I am getting tired of waiting around for this. This is such a special event for me, and I just need to know if I have a real ticket or not.

  • Scandaroona

You guys! Don’t sue them! At the end of the day it’s just a person (who we all love, of course) who will be reading from her new book. It’ll ruin everything to be sour and bitter about the mix-up. Most of us have tickets, whether we bought them night before last or yesterday morning; they’re trying to accommodate us; it serves everyone’s best interests to be cheerful and optimistic. I, like many others, am pretty sure that they’ll have to let everyone in (my worst fear is that they do a sort of lottery among all ticket-holders — but I think they’d have too many angry people if they did that). Anyway, let’s just try to show Jazz that we’re good people, not inherently scathing ones, and though we’re incredibly frustrated right now, we’ll be happy as long as we get to see the reading.

    • Scandaroona

(That said, yes, of course I’m tense and annoyed! And I doubt those feelings will go away until I know for sure that my ticket will stay my ticket. But I’m trying to be hopeful, and threatening to sue the poor Jazz people is only making things harder for employees I’m sure are kicking themselves as I type.)

    • Mandy

I don’t think anyone is threatening to sue (at the moment). We’re all just nervous that our tickets will be taken away from us.

      • Scandaroona

I’m nervous about that too! Incredibly nervous, as I’m a college student and called my parents in a state of fierce excitement after I got tickets yesterday — it’d be absolutely terrible to have them taken away. But I did see some threats to sue below (I’ve been checking Hypable pretty much for the past 24 hours.) I just meant… show them what it means to really be a JKR fan, you know? Kindness and all that. I’m not saying it isn’t enormously upsetting and stressful, because it is.

  • http://twitter.com/JediShywalker Shylah

Just an FYI the statement has been amended and now reads:

**Due to a security breach,** tickets for the J. K. Rowling event on
10/16/12 were made available prematurely at 10 pm on September 9th.
Tickets then went on sale at the previously announced time of 10 am on
September 10th. Jazz at Lincoln Center is in the process of
investigating how this occurred and what arrangements may be made to
honor each ticket purchased, and will provide an update as quickly as
possible. Neither JK Rowling nor Little Brown and Company are
responsible for this situation. Jazz at Lincoln Center apologizes for
    any inconvenience.

Stars mine to show the change.

    • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

My terror that those of us who bought on Sunday (and I’m sorry, who exactly could resist that??) will be refunded with no other compensation (on the grounds that our purchases were never legit) is so real I can taste it. And it tastes suspiciously like earwax, which, as we all know, is unpleasant enough as it is.

      • Mandy

It still does say that they are doing all they can to honor each ticket that was sold, so there is still hope. I have the opposite fear. I bought my ticket yesterday in the second round of tickets. I’m afraid that those will be taken away as they had already been sold the night before.

        • Scandaroona

Ugh, I know, it really feels like no-one is safe. I’ve got my fingers crossed that all of us will be fine, though — New York is a big place, isn’t it? There has to be somewhere we can all go! And even if that means that not everyone can have their book signed (if JKR doesn’t want to sign the extras), I’m really okay with that as long as I can BE there… and I think that’s something Jazz ought to be able to accomplish.

        • http://twitter.com/edclipse Edward Sam

No, neither of those tickets will be invalidated if Lincoln Center knows what’s good for them. We all purchased tickets from the site of the venue, not some other site. I for one will NOT take this sitting down if they invalidate my ticket. It was not my fault that I bought a ticket at the “wrong” time.

    • http://twitter.com/mattwiz13 Matthew Carenza

I literally just saw that amendment on the website. I can’t believe that some fan hacked into the ticketing system to open up purchases. It’s ridiculous that that happened, but also it just goes to show how ill equipped Lincoln Center was to handle this event. My ticket better be honored, that’s all I’m saying.

    • Mandy

Huh, that’s interesting. I wonder if that’s even true. Seems more like an oversight on their part than a security breach to me.

    • Scandaroona

I’d think the security breach would have been whoever it was who found the link to the tickets — someone else was saying that these tickets would never have been sold if that link hadn’t been found. So there’s probably a single person at the root of all this. Ooooh I feel sorry for them. Despite being rather upset at them, too.

      • http://twitter.com/JediShywalker Shylah

That. If that one person hadn’t made the link public knowledge, this whole thing could have been avoided.

Once pandora’s ticketing website was opened though, no one can blame the fans for buying tickets. As we saw, They sold out in an hour. We didn’t know the source of the link, that the site wasn’t prepared, or if tickets would be come available the next day.

I’m not entirely sure that someone hacked the site. I think the page was created but not listed in the events section. Someone probably used the search feature, typed in “JK Rowling,” and it popped up ready to sell.

This was bad planning/implementation on the part of the JALC. Fans aren’t the problem here.

        • Mandy

That’s what I’m thinking too. It’s not a security breach or any kind of hack if you get there from the site itself.

    • http://twitter.com/smaloy Sarah Maloy

Thanks Shylah! We’re adding this to the story now.

  • adice

the message on the JALC site has changed from “technical difficulties” to “security breach”

    • http://twitter.com/edclipse Edward Sam

These people need to get their stories straight.

  • http://twitter.com/taylie27 Taylore Thompson

I spent 30 minutes on the phone waiting but I got tickets to see her in Scotland!!!! And it was only 11 pounds!! I’m jumping for joy!

    • Scandaroona

      THAT’S good news! Congratulations, Taylore!

    • Kor

You’d feel terrible, anxious, and upset.

  • Kor

Has anyone called today and pestered them for info? Just curious if they’re addressing the issue through customer service in any way.

    • Mandy

The customer service line doesn’t open until 11, so very soon we will be able to call.

      • Kor

        Good to know. Thanks!

      • LizH

        11:04 now… anyone get through?

    • Liz

I didn’t call but I emailed the subscriptions email address next to the customer service number I talked to last Friday. I asked if they could verify that I had the seat and supply me with any other information that was available. They did verify that the seat was mine and said I was “set” for the event. I did purchase my ticket on the 10th, but those who got them on the 9th could try the email address (subscriptions@jalc.org), they replied within an hour this morning and is I believe a customer service rep and not specific with the ticketing office (who doesn’t seem to know what they’re doing).

      • Mandy

Did you buy your ticket online or via phone?

      • Kor

Thanks for the info! I just sent them an e-Mail. Will update with what I hear back….

    • http://www.jkanemedia.com Jared Kane

I called – just now. Lady on the phone said they’re getting a ton of calls, and have no further update. She read to me the statement that’s on the website lol, I said thanks, and she said to try and call back this afternoon or check the website this afternoon for an update. When she read the statement, she stressed that they are working to see what they can do to honor *each* ticket purchased.

      • Kor

Thanks for the update! I imagine there’s a lot of big wigs currently in a meeting somewhere trying to sort this whole mess out. And I’m glad to hear she stressed the word “each!”

  • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

So they’ve now changed their statement to read “due to a security breach.” Great, now I’m even more worried about my tickets being invalidated since I bought them Sunday night.

    • Mandy

It is really bad. We’re all so worried. The statement says that they’re trying to find a way for all of our tickets to be honored, so I’m trying to stay optimistic.

  • http://www.hypable.com/author/lauracristiano/ LauraBC

    I don’t think that was a
security breach. In as far as I can tell, no one hacked their site vs someone figured out what
their pattern of URLS was and found the page before the link was visible on the
homepage. It was there. It was available. It was functional. They could even have had the link but had the software turned off so as to disallow sales until a specific time, but clearly either they didn’t think to do that, didn’t know how to do that, or have the most outdated software in the world that is incapable of doing that. There’s a difference between hacking and someone in the Jazz site being too
lazy or inept to investigate timed box office software with a secure lock down. Is the Jazz really accusing the fans who camped out on line for three days in terrible weather of being hackers? Because that really makes me never want to purchase anything at Lincoln Center again. They could have named their link anything “Aunt Tilly’s wedding” for example and then changed the name the next day. Instead, it sounds like they are blaming fans for what is not a security breach, but their own failure to understand internet protocols.

    • Erik

Also remember.. if there was a security breach, does the breach also mean that people have access to my credit card numbers? Are they stored in plain text or encrypted? Etc.

Why must people lie? They don’t want to be embarrassed that the link was possibly live for DAYS. But now they lie and think we’re too stupid to know it’s all BS.

OH NO! My web server got hacked! All they did was post a link to the JK Rowling event, and somehow, all the tickets ACTUALLY got sold out, not fake sold out! No, no one posted any racist or anti-semetic remarks. No one tried to get their hacker group’s message out there. All they did was publish a website to look EXACTLY like the one that was going to be published the next day.

Give me a damn break, JALC. You f’d up. Honor the damn tickets. You guys get more money out of it anyway.

  • Kara

This is just so frustrating. I couldn’t imagine them actually taking away tickets from anyone. We don’t deserve to be penalized for a mistake on their end. When I got a ticket it was the happiest I’ve been in months. I’ve always thought I’d die without meeting Jo. Now that I know I might not even get that chance and that it could be taken away from me…

  • http://twitter.com/BriannaOhara Brianna Selesky

When the women who worked at JALC came outside to speak to us on line Monday morning at 9am (when they were oblivious to anything having happened Sunday night, although we had been constantly telling security to let people inside know) she was completely surprised when we asked her about the tickets that had gone on sale the night before. Her response was “No tickets went on sale. Our system recorded 5 bots attempting to get through but none of them did.” So according to them at that time there was no breach of their system. Now they are changing there story. I hope this doesn’t mean they would use that as an excuse to not honor tickets from Sunday night.

    • http://twitter.com/mattwiz13 Matthew Carenza

It shocks me that they would either lie to us or be so oblivious that they didn’t even know the tickets went on sale. It’s atrocious how they’re handling this, and we all deserve to go even if it means they have to book another larger venue and lose money in the process.

  • nova

Is anyone else getting annoyed reading comments (not on this site that I can tell) by people who bought their tickets Monday saying that the people on Sunday somehow did something wrong. They keep using words like legal, fair, and cheat and it’s really getting on my nerves.

    • Scandaroona

Agreed. I did buy my ticket on Monday, but I can’t pretend I wasn’t upset the night before when I found out they’d gone on sale; I’m absolutely positive I’d have tried to get one if I had known. So would anyone. I think these comments are mainly coming from the stress levels we’ve got — Monday people hoping Sunday people won’t get them in order to give them a better shot. And I understand that temptation, but it’s generally better to hope that everyone can have a ticket!

That said — has anyone called? Have they said anything?

    • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

Same here. Everyone who bought a ticket, whether it was on Sunday or Monday, equally deserves to attend this event. We all bought legitimate tickets through the official site of the venue.

    • Liz

I’m one of the people who bought their tickets on Monday, but only because I didn’t get the tip-off the night before! I think people are taking out their anger on those who were lucky enough to get the tickets early because they don’t know who to blame (JALC, Ticketing agency, etc) and can’t get information from anybody. I’m just hoping it turns out well for everyone!!

    • LizH

Agreed. I tried for a Sunday ticket and was too late. If someone had posted a way to “hack” the system, I wouldn’t have used it. But it was just a link to the actual JALC page with the event. Once you see that the event is up, what are you supposed to do? Nobly refrain from purchasing on the off-chance that tickets will be left the next day? I originally thought the early “leak” was a way to release tickets in a trickle, rather than slamming the site all at once the next day.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1128995453 Lauren Spellman

I was on my computer Sunday night, but I didn’t see on twitter until an hour after the tickets had gone on sale so I figured I’d missed my chance. I did my best to call the box office between my 9:55-10:10 break between classes, but the lines were obviously busy. I was lucky to get some of the tickets online in the afternoon around 2:00 p.m. I hope everyone’s tickets are valid. Everyone bought them Sunday night because it came from the JALC website and there was no malicious intent. All tickets should be honored, fans bought them when they had the chance, simple as that.

  • njbuckeye85

I realize that everyone is excited at the thought of seeing JKR in person and disappointed if they couldn’t get tickets, but since I work at a non-profit doing ticket sales (among many, many other things) here is my 2 cents.

    1) Lincoln Center is a non-profit, not a for-profit presenter. Like every other non-profit in the country, they are likely understaffed and underpaid. It’s possible some intern accidentally posted the link early. (Although one would argue that if that’s the case, why are they presenting JKR, a whole other discussion).

    2) Don’t call the box office and throw a temper tantrum. Those people are paid next to nothing and have one job- to take ticket sales. Contact a higher up or ask for a manager. By calling and yelling at them you’re not doing yourself any favors.

    3) Take a deep breath, it’s going to be ok. The amount of crazy going on here is scary.

    • Liz

Well said! It’s easy to forget that while we’re stressed out about the whole things, they’ve been forced to talk to all of us stressed-out people for the last day. It’s not the ticket sales people who made the mistake, but someone behind the scenes.
Now could it have been handled better, of course, but again that’s not the front-line people’s fault but the managers behind them.

    • http://twitter.com/JediShywalker Shylah

      THIS.

As someone who works in customer service (at the lowest level in my department), we’re not the ones at fault when something like this happens, but we’re often the ones who get the brunt of the ire from frustrated customers.

PLEASE BE NICE TO ANYONE YOU SPEAK WITH.

This was an oversight/problem that came from way above the people you’ll be interacting with (who are most likely working with unclear/ever-changing information), and shouldn’t be held responsible for this problem.

    • Sarah

I completely agree that NO ONE should be throwing temper tantrums 1) to underpaid sales staff who likely have nothing to do with this, or 2) really to anyone at this point. Let’s wait and see how things develop. If some people’s tickets are invalidated, they should certainly contact the higher-ups to express their disappointment in a reasoned way (i.e. no craziness).

I do have to add, however, that although the JALC is a non-profit, understaffed, and underpaid, the management seriously failed in properly prepping what staff they do have to handle this disaster properly (at the very least, staff could have been told not to tell customers anything at this point, as staff has been releasing very mixed messages). I’m actually really sympathetic to what you’re saying about non-profits, and that could result for some of the blame, but mismanagement is likely also a factor.

  • Liz

So I called the box office to validate that I did indeed have tickets. I ordered yesterday morning and they said my order did go through and my tickets would be valid. I asked the lady about the tickets ordered the night before and she said “We still don’t know how we are handling those transactions. Customer service will be calling the people who ordered those tickets in the next few days.” As far as I am concerned, I still don’t feel like I am in the clear. The “hopeful” news, however, is yesterday I was told they could see my seating. Today, they cannot. Maybe they are going to change venues?

    • LizH

Thanks for getting an update. In order of preference, I hope they will (1) move to a bigger venue, (2) add a second date, or (3) at the very least, invalidate tickets that are being scalped online right now and offer those to the Sunday purchasers. I guess options 1 and 2 will both take some time because Rowling would have to agree to the extra work.

      • Liz

I’m not sure if they could find out which tickets are being scalped online as there isn’t much information that they know. They are claiming not to know seat numbers or anything right now, how would they know which seats are being scalped?

I would think the only reasonable thing they could do without imposing on JK Rowling would be to move it to a bigger venue.

        • LizH

A bigger venue would still impose on her, though. Signing 1200 books was already going to take hours. 2400 might be close to impossible. I’d rather get bumped to a different day than get a pre-signed copy and not meet Rowling, but that’s just me.

          • Liz

I think the stadium holds 1100, and I think I read they sold 1200. They only double booked 100. I am not positive, that is just what I read.

          • LizH

I hope you’re right! Accommodating an extra 100 would be a lot easier than the alternative.

          • http://twitter.com/mattwiz13 Matthew Carenza

Yeah, I highly doubt they double booked every seat. I’m sure it was just the few hundred tickets that were let out early.

          • Kor

Yeah. It’s weird; no one seems to know how many extra tickets were sold. It doesn’t seem like it was double.

          • Sarah

Unfortunately I don’t think there’s been any official word yet on how many tickets were double booked … it could be 100, 1000 …….

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I read somewhere that 300 were sold sunday.. i dont think its doubled the whole venue, only those that bought sunday and then the 1100 bought monday. either way, a bigger venue is ideal and fixes this whole thing.

  • Sarah

Ok, now things are getting a bit strange. I bought my ticket online on Monday and subsequently emailed JALC’s customer service (customerservice@jalc.com) with my order number, etc. very politely asking if my ticket was valid. I just received the following response: “Hello, The JK Rowling event is not a Jazz at Lincoln Center Production. For any comments, questions or concerns you will have to contact the publisher. You may reach them at LBPublicity.Generic@HBGUSA.com . Thank you.” Thoughts?

    • Liz

I just saw that email myself when I emailed them after I got the ticket to find out if the book was included in the price. Seems sketchy to me

      • http://twitter.com/mattwiz13 Matthew Carenza

I sent them an e-mail about the book as well and I got the EXACT same worded message you two received. This is very strange.

    • Mandy

Yup, I got the exact same reply.

    • LizH

Try the LBPublicity address? Maybe they have taken over at this point and JALC isn’t in charge of the situation anymore.

    • nova

I don’t think that has anything to do with tickets or venue. I think they are saying that they are not handling the books and therefore do not ‘know’ (aka. don’t want to deal with problems they don’t consider their’s) if it’s included in the price.

      • Guest

But Sarah emailed asking if her ticket is valid, not about the book.

        • Sarah

Exactly! I included my customer, order, and seat numbers and asked them to double check the validity with my name. Their response makes no sense contextually. How would LB be able to verify my order number?! They’re obviously just sending out a stock answer to every query.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I emailed them a question about seats and book info and I got a actual response, i emailed a few different people tho. the customer service one from lincoln center, the subscription one on JALZ and customer service at JALC, i got a reply saying the book is being given out that day and they asked for my customer # to look up my ticket cause i wanted to know if it was orch or balcony. Everyone is getting mixed messages about everything. no matter the question. I think moving venues is a perfect idea.

      • nova

O, I wrote that after I read the other replies and still had the ‘is book included’ line in my head without realizing that’s not what you asked them. my bad

    • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

whaaat this makes it seem like they’re changing the venue.

  • Kassie

I bought one the night before, and I’ve booked a bus ticket which is non-refundable. I understand that problems happen, but the legalities of this issue far extend a few upset Harry Potter fans.

I think it is the Lincoln Center’s best interest to try to sort this out as cleanly as possible.

I’m going to be so devastated if my ticket can’t be honored. At the very least, people who purchased Sunday night tickets should have been contacted early Monday morning so they could have tried again at 10 a.m.

Many mistakes have been made in the aftermath of the problem and it makes me really worried about the outcome.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1128995453 Lauren Spellman

I feel like the sale of tickets should have been postponed until they figured out what happened. It would have given them more time to figure this out and everyone would have a fair chance to get their tickets.

  • Juan

If you knew tickets were being sold on Monday at 10 am, and bought them early is the same as getting a Harry Potter book before midnight: don’t expect to feel like a real fan who cheated your way through the system. Harry Potter ans wait in line, just like everyone else. Those who thought they were smart and beat the system, should get a refund and a slap in the face.

    • Kor

You’ve got to be kidding me. I waited in line out front of JALC Sunday night for SIX HOURS. When news broke that tickets were being sold online, I bought my tickets (without “cheating the system”—it was from the official website) on my smartphone while sitting in that line. I deserve that ticket (the one I paid AND received confirmation for) just as much as you do. Get off your high horse!

    • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

As far as I can see, no one thought they were “cheating” the system. We thought we were using the system, full stop.

That’s really unkind. Read some of the comments below from the Sunday folks. I think you might find that they’re just as human as you are.

    • http://twitter.com/JediShywalker Shylah

      That is a poor analogy.

This is akin to there are only 1100 Harry Potter books being released. To actually own one, you need to be one of the 1100 people to purchase it. Everyone else will get to read the story– just as an ebook or a synopsis online.

You are planning to buy the book when it hits shelves at 10 AM, but then a whole bunch of them (and it’s unclear how many) go up for sale the night before. You’re scared that you won’t get one if you wait, so you make the purchase.

THE FANS DID NOTHING WRONG HERE.

Not the ones who bought Sunday and not the ones who bought Monday. Everyone wants these tickets, and people bought from the official JALC website that was fully operational and selling tickets on Sunday night.

The fault is with the event organizers and your comment was shortsighted and completely unnecessary.

      • Kor

        Exactly! Thank you!

What if, while waiting in line for the midnight release of a book, the store opened its doors 5 hours early and started selling the books. The parameters of “cheating” change when perceived authority figures are enabling the purchase. If fans were buying tickets through a different channel, I would agree with you, but they discovered that the site was open (the legal, OFFICIAL site) and purchased their tickets without questioning the legality of the matter.

      • LizH

Exactly. I *have* gotten a Harry Potter book before the midnight release. Amazon screwed up one year and sent out the pre-ordered books a day or two early. That was Amazon’s fault, though. I didn’t feel the moral imperative to rush out to UPS and return my copy.

  • Sarah

Has anyone’s purchase gone through on their card yet? Mine is still “pending.”

    • Kor

Mine is still pending, too (but I purchased with a debit card and it usually takes about two days to process). I have other payments, made before I bought the tickets, still pending as well.

    • Mandy

It shows up on my statement, but it doesn’t say whether it is pending or has gone through.

    • GN

Still pending for Sunday and Monday’s purchases :(

      • Mandy

        You got tickets both days?

        • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

Since you can’t buy more than 2 tix per purchase, by the time I went to get another 2 on Sunday for friends they were sold out/the site was acting funny. So, I ended up getting another pair Monday online.

          • Mandy

Wow, so whichever way they decide to go, you’ll at least have two tickets that are valid.

          • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

@disqus_DWh71qfGC2:disqus I hope I at least I do! I remember the site saying it was sold out at noon but I got mine around 1:30PM online so I’m hoping those we’re doubled either :(

          • Mandy

That’s exactly when I got mine! I’m so nervous.

          • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

@disqus_DWh71qfGC2:disqus We can be nervous together!!! LOL

  • antonia31

This is just utterly heartbreaking. For everyone involved. It’s looking like it will be no jk rowling for me now!

    • Mandy

I still think they’re going to try to honor all tickets. At least I really hope so!

    • nova

Agreed. I feel like I’m in store for a full refund and a “sorry for the inconvenience” e-mail. Just got to way 2 hours for my heart to be crushed.

  • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

Sunday ticketers “may encounter trouble”? As if I didn’t already have quite enough trouble to be going on with?

  • Mandy

It doesn’t sound like either group is safe at this point. I don’t like all of this “more than likely” and “may encounter trouble” business. Either our tickets count or they don’t. I need to find something to do for two hours now…so nervous.

  • Kaitlyn

I don’t see how they could say that there was a specified time to buy tickets since there was never anything on that website about the event until tickets actually went up. Of course the box office opens at 10 so that’s when phone and email would start but (in my mind) that has nothing to do with online sales. The ticket agents obviously told people they would go onsale at 10am, but, as we have seen, their statements are suspect at best. I went online, saw a post about tickets being onsale and bought them, knowing it would sell out shortly. To take my ticket away would be ridiculously upsetting.

    • Kaitlyn

oops “email” = in person tickets. I don’t know what I was thinking about to make that mistake.

    • http://twitter.com/JediShywalker Shylah

EXACTLY. There was NO information available on the JALC website or in any of the (limited) material released by Little Brown. There was no reason for fans to suspect that the 10 PM launch of e-booking was a glitch (or a “security breach” as they’re calling it now).

I emailed the JALC last week about tickets and their email said that phone and in-person sales would start at 10 AM on Monday. It said NOTHING about online sales. Not that they would be happening. Not that they would also start at 10 AM.

      Nothing.

How was I supposed to know that the Sunday night ticket sales were in error when there was absolutely NO information out there!

      • Kaitlyn

Yes! That’s been my issue with this whole thing. Especially when some people say that their online tickets are legit because they bought them at the “right time.” There was no right time. I’ve been stalking that site since this was announced and there was no mention of Rowling until tickets went onsale. I thought they put online tickets up early to help their website (which is terrible, btw) deal with the inevitable onslaught.

        • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

I had the same thought when the link came out– that JALC was trying to ease some of the pressure on their website.

        • Mandy

Now I’m getting nervous. I bought mine online on Monday. I just want everyone to go. :(

          • Kaitlyn

I meant no slight to those who bought tickets on monday! I want everyone to go as well. If they can’t move the venue to accomodate everyone, at the very least they should have a place where those the venue cannot accommodate (due to fire codes, lack of seating, etc) can watch the webcast of the event & then get their books signed. Not a perfect solution, but it would be something.

          • Mandy

Oh, I didn’t mean to imply that you said anything against us. I’m just nervous and anxious for everyone at this point.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I think moving venues solves everything. they can make it first come first served seating so theres no problems and thats that.

    • Caroline

I certainly think everyone should be allowed to keep their tickets and see the event and go to the signing…I just have to say this.

While you have somewhat of an excuse to not have known the time the tickets went on sale, you have NO excuse to not know the DATE. We ALL knew it was September 10th, not the 9th. So they definitely can say there was a specified time. If the mistake had happened at 9 AM yesterday or 8AM or whatever – yeah, okay. They should have posted the time. But this happened on an entirely different day, a day that we all knew was NOT the day tickets went on sale.

The DAY was posted as soon as the event was announced.

      Just thought I’d mention that.

      • Mack

You’re a dummy, just thought I’d mention that. I just love how your camp acts so high-handed and spuriously noble simply because you were not as avid and didn’t catch this so-called “glitch” when it occurred. Something tells me you’d be in our exact predicament had YOU had the opportunity to buy the ticket(s) Sunday rather than sleep on it and wait the following morning.

  • Mandy

How much do the box office reps actually know about this though? They’ve given us a lot of conflicting answers already.

  • R.

Interestingly enough, I sent an email to JALC customer service about the disappointing nature of this whole debacle–even if there was a security breach that allowed somebody to access a page that had not yet been linked onto their website, that page should never have had a live link to purchase tickets before Sept. 10, 10am, regardless of whether the link to the event appeared on their events list. I simply said that the error created a scenario in which, one way or another, a group of people (whether it be the people who bought Sunday night or the people who bought Monday morning) would get the brunt of the unfairness.
HOWEVER, the reply was that the JK Rowling event is not a JALC production and any complaints should be directed to Little Brown. As far as I can tell, Little Brown was not the entity that put the tickets up for sale–and I sincerely doubt that Little Brown was working in JALC and was in any way responsible for how the SALE of tickets was managed. Publicity and such, yes, they are responsible for. Their ignorance of the problem as of yesterday is a whole other problem entirely. But JALC was and is responsible for the mismanagement of the sale of tickets. It was on their website, the event is being hosted by them, in their facilities, and somebody in the JALC office erred by allowing the link to purchase tickets to remain active though not posted. Not to mention, JALC is responsible for handling the mismanagement of ticket sales; Little Brown had no role to play in how the tickets were posted, put up for sale, or bought.

    • Mandy

I got the same response when I emailed them about the entire ordeal.

  • Mandy

I’d really like for that window on jalc.org to stop popping up every time I refresh to check for an announcement.

  • Liz

I know we are all feeling this but I am seriously stressing out over this ordeal. I didn’t think I was going to get tickets at all yesterday, but I did, and now this happens and it is unclear if they are even valid?! This is complete chaos. Why does this stuff always happen to the Harry Potter/Jo Fandom?!?! WHYYYYYYYY?!

    • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

      I’m inclined to blame Voldemort.

      • http://twitter.com/JediShywalker Shylah

You win the internet for the day.

Everyone else- pack it up and send it home.

      • Liz

I agree. The internet is yours… TAKE IT!

  • Mack

The only malicious-intent buyers are the ticket scalpers/extortionists who have posted their tickets up for auction for absurd prices to make profit. If you ask me, I say THOSE are the tickets that should be invalidated. In fact, I think I will be sending JALC those ebay links and insist they do this if they have no recourse but to void some

    • Liz

How would they get the information to invalidate it though? I agree 100% but I don’t understand how they would know who bought them…..

      • Mack

Hmmm, I’m not sure. I wish they would post an actual update rather than leave us completely disarrayed and frantic. I can’t handle this sort of torment. According to my credit statement, the purchase is still listed but still “Pending”
        :/

        • Liz

Dude, I feel you. I’m freaking the eff out over here! We should start a support group!

          • Mack

I’ll see how far they go. If anyone (aside from scalpers) are left in the dust, I’ll be lobbying for a sit-in or rally to contest this outrage. This is JO we’re talking bout here. Some of us have been yearning to meet her since our trainer-wheels days, they can’t rob that from us after confirming our tickets and escalating our anticipation to star-struck maximum.

  • Mack

    Outrageous

  • Kor

I’m starting to get the distinct feeling that those who bought tickets on Sunday (aka, me) are royally screwed. Someone please convince me I’m wrong? Hate to lose hope, but….

    • Liz

Hang in there. We should know something in about an hour. Don’t lose hope, and if all else fails, PROTEST!

    • Mandy

I’m still hopeful that all of us will be able to go. The statement on the website says that they are trying to honor all tickets. I know the box office rep said otherwise, but they have seemed extremely misinformed this entire time, so I’m not willing to believe what they’ve said yet.

    • http://twitter.com/JediShywalker Shylah
      • Mack

Wow, I just checked that link and they have tickets directly adjacent to my seat, which worries me.

  • Mandy

    Everything is so conflicting. ”
Neither JK Rowling nor Little Brown and Company are responsible for this situation. Jazz at Lincoln Center apologizes for any inconvenience.”
And yet they email me and say, “The JK Rowling event is not a Jazz at Lincoln Center Production. For any comments, questions or concerns you will have to contact the publisher.”
    Which is it???

  • nova

Called customer service and all the representative did was read me the blurb on the website word for word (although she said technical difficulty not breach of security). She then said she had no idea what was being decided or when it would be announced and to just keep checking the website for updates. I wish they would tell all the people who deal with customers to just say the same thing! Last night I called the box office and I was told that the box office has nothing to do with it and I should contact customer service in the morning and now it seems that apparently the box office has more info than customer service!

    • Mandy

Yeah, customer service hasn’t done any of us any service.

      • Liz

Customer disservice is more like it

    • Mandy

But on the other side, the box office keeps saying different things, so it looks like we really do have to wait for the announcement. It had better up right at 3:00.

  • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I think I agree with what most people are saying, move to a bigger venue. I saw that Avery Fisher Hall is not booked, so move it there. Its still through Lincoln Effing Center so it shouldn’t be much of a problem. Just make the seats first come first served. Cause if ANY tickets are refunded, there is going to be a uproar, suing threats, etc going on. They obviously weren’t prepared for this. By the look of the comments, they didn’t even see the problems coming at all. They obviously didn’t know JKR was the author of Harry Potter. We just all want to get the chance to meet her and to tell her a quick thank you or something quickly. I’m sure JKR would be furious with whats going on. Or make it 2 nights, but only for those with tickets already and no more. just split the total in half so shes signing less per night. But refunds are going to cause even more issues then they already have with seat locations, etc.

  • MrWill

I hope everyone’s tickets will be honored. I hope the venue will stay the same, too. This is the venue the author agreed to appear in. This is the beautiful venue for which we purchased tickets.

To those who bought tickets on Sunday: While you did not cause the glitch, I hope you realize you took a shortcut; there was apparently a glitch, or a breach, and you took advantage of it. While the ticketing pages was official, it apparently took digging to find it, and was a pretty obvious loophole. To my mind, it’s similar to having a large crowd wait for a performance that is set to begin at a certain time. Someone then discovers a back door to the theater and spreads the word, and various people from all sections of the line take advantage of the jump. When others who continued waiting in line enter the theater, they find others occupying a bunch of their seats.

To those of you who bought tickets on Sunday, I’m sure you felt quite lucky and excited to get early access and beat the rush. I might have felt this, too. I also expect I would’ve felt a bit uneasy, like I was getting away with something, despite the official nature of the page.

Finally, a word on this day, September 11th. Not to get too heavy-handed, but today is a solemn and reflective day, particularly in New York. There are some on this page who are using words to the effect of the following: “dreadful,” “terrible,” “unforgivable,” “horrendous,” etc…. I hope you will keep some perspective. This is an unfortunate situation, but let’s not blow it out of proportion. There are no life-or-death stakes. Everyone is physically okay. Life will go on. I urge you to please consider dialing back the hyperbole, especially on a day like this one, and remember what is truly valuable and irreplaceable in this precious life. Thank you.

    • Mandy

I don’t think it’s like that at all. It was never posted what time tickets would go on sale online. If I had been awake Sunday night at 10, I would’ve definitely bought a ticket too. No one did anything wrong.

      • MrWill

I’m simply saying there are shades of gray here. 10 am was in fact the official on sale time. Anyone who called the box office was told this time for all methods of purchasing. The time was widely mentioned on message boards. People who camped out based their plans on this time, as well. I did not say anyone did anything wrong. I said that, in my opinion, they took advantage of an accidental shortcut. I was quite careful to point out that they did not cause the glitch or breach itself.

        • Sarah

Actually, I called the box office and was told that there would be NO online sales at all, but that in-person and phone tickets would begin Monday at 10am. People were given so many different answers when they called in for information, and a lof of it was wrong.

        • Mandy

I understand, and I’m sorry for calling you out. We want the same thing: for everyone who purchased a ticket to be allowed to attend.

    • nova

I take offense at you saying ”
I’m sure you felt quite lucky and excited to get early access and beat the rush…
would’ve felt a bit uneasy, like I was getting away with something.” I was not excited to beat a rush I thought that the tickets were truly on sale. I have bought tickets from other vendors (most noticeably Roundabout Theater in NYC) where I was told tickets would go on sale when the box office opened only to find out the online link went live 3 hours before. Was I upset? yes! Is that life in the internet age? Yes. I didn’t expect the Roundabout theatre to dishonor the tickets bought before. I don’t understand why people who bought their tickets online Monday feel they are morally superior to the people who got them Sunday. The tickets went on sale, we bought them and received confirmation. That’s usually how commerce works. Now, if JALC invalidate my tickets for their mistake I will be extremely angry, but I think I’m getting even angrier at the people who bought the tickets on Monday and are taking the holier-than-thou approach to this event.

      • MrWill

I apologize if I offended you. Not my intent. Instead of “I’m sure” I should’ve said “I imagine.” I was obviously speculating, as I was not in your shoes, and one sentence can clearly not capture the feelings or motivations of all of the Sunday purchasers.

I also feel I was being fairly measured in my initial post. You are entitled to your anger, just as you’re entitled to toss around terms like “holier than thou” and “morally superior,” which some might call name-calling. I was simply sharing my opinion, while also acknowledging that I’m not exactly sure how I would have felt or what I would have done in your situation. I don’t know. If that offends you, then you might also consider the effect of some of the anger you are directing at others.

As I said, I hope this works out for everyone. You might have referred to some of the other aspects of my post rather than the one part that apparently hurt your feelings.

        • nova

I suppose if we must be level headed, which I will freely admit I have not been since 5 o’clock last night, that the fundamental question of this whole debacle is what constitutes a “legitimate ticket.” On one side we have the people who bought the tickets on the DATE (I believe the 10 a.m. time to be unofficial being that it was never publicized nor was it always confirmed to be the time of sale by those who work for the vendor) the box office and publicity said that the tickets would be on sale. On the other hand, people were able to purchase tickets the night of the 9th online where there was a live link to the official vendor’s site that allowed the purchasing of tickets, provided confirmation, and charged the customers’ accounts. In the end the only answer to this question that will matter is Jazz at Lincoln Center. Until then, I wish both Sunday nighters and Monday morningers would stop passing judgement on those who purchased their tickets in a different format.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I was one of the ones upset at those who got tickets sunday because i found out to late. Once i had a ticket however I didnt care anymore. I think its just the stress of maybe not having tickets anymore that is causing people to say shit. I think moving venues or making it 2 nights should be whats done since it wouldnt be fair to revoke anyones tickets because everyone did get them fairly.

        • Erik

In other words “idgaf about the others, but if it affects ME, then I act like I give a s—”

    • Mack

A high-brow statement if ever there was one. What exactly is YOUR ticket status?

    • http://twitter.com/JediShywalker Shylah

You are making a lot of (incorrect) assumptions about those of us who purchased tickets on Sunday night- the most insulting of all being that we were trying to cheat the system.

I emailed the JALC last week to inquire about tickets for this event because there was no specific information anywhere. Not in the press release from Little Brown and not on the JALC’s website. Their response was that phone and box office tickets would go on sale on 9/10 at 10 AM. There was nothing in the email about online availability– even though I had asked specifically about it.

Then on Sunday night, many Harry Potter and other fansite posted/tweeted that tickets were now available online. The link they provided took me directly to the JALC website where I was able to purchase my tickets to the event. My credit card was charged and I received a confirmation email with my seat assignments.

At what point was I suppose to realize that something was wrong? There was no information on online availability given to me so it just seemed like internet buyers got early access to tickets.

I was able to order from the official website of the venue holding the event. At no point then or in 12 hours before tickets went on sale via phone and box office was I contacted by that venue to say that my tickets were not good.

At no point did I believe (nor do I believe now) that I did anything wrong. The JALC was ill prepared for this event, Little Brown was not forthcoming with information, and those two things lead to a lot of unnecessary mystery and chaos concerning this event.

The only people to blame here are the event organizers. Stop trying to push the blame onto the fans who, for the most part, honestly beloved they were doing exactly what they were supposed to do.

Also, the reference to 9/11 was unnecessary. No one on this thread has EVER compared the mishandling of this event to anything of that magnitude. For you to evoke the significance of today to shame us for feeling upset at the way this debacle has been handled is not only insensitive but extremely self righteous on your part.

      • MrWill

I’m sincerely sorry that I offended you. I’m not trying to shame or blame anyone.

      • MrWill

I have apologized for unintentionally offending you, but I feel the need to defend my post. I never once used the word cheat. I expressed a desire that all purchasers get to attend. I acknowledged that I may also have purchased a Sunday ticket had I known about them, but that I would have felt at least somewhat conflicted about it. That is my own emotional reaction and should have no effect on you. It passes no judgment on your decisions or reactions. Perhaps the back door analogy was flawed, but I was using it to illustrate the Sunday sale as an accidental, though official, shortcut that was not the fault of any of the ticket buyers, but still presented an unfortunate situation.

I realize I strayed into a heated discussion here. I’m out of my league in terms of the intensity of feeling surrounding this event. As for my acknowledgment of the nature of 9/11, there were no words in my post designed to make anyone feel guilty or ashamed. I find it hurtful that you would accuse me of such motivations. Furthermore, I never accused anyone of likening this day to the magnitude of the ticket debacle. Ever. I would never be so callous or cruel. I was simply contrasting my personal feelings of walking through the city today with some of the intense feelings being voiced on this board, feelings that seemed to me to be a bit extreme even on a normal day. The contrast to me was striking. But I learned a valuable lesson in trying to voice a well-meaning if ill-timed and imprfectly worded reflection on a board that was mostly focused on logistics, expressions of anger and frustration, and varied reactions to late-breaking updates.

Everyone is entitled to her or his feelings. I am responsible for my post, and regret if my tone was unclear. But I think I bore an unfair brunt of your built-up frustration, as your post is peppered with a lot of the same inferences you accuse me of making. I felt personally attacked by your response. Now that tempers have cooled, I would welcome the same thoughtful reconsideration I have tried to give you (see my initial apology). Regardless, I remain sorry if I unintentionally hurt your feelings or anyone else’s (hence my request to have the post removed). I now know how you feel.

  • Mandy

*crosses fingers* It’s time for the update.

    • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

and yet their site still has not updated… I’m sitting here refreshing the jalc site even though I seriously doubt the box office rep who said there would be an update around 3 PM, since everything the box office reps have told us so far has been unreliable.

      • Mandy

I thought that might be the one reliable thing to come from the box office. Doesn’t look like it.

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I wish it was the one thing we would get thats right. I just wanna know what the eff is going on because its going to leave fans upset unless they are somehow honoring tickets to everyone.

Yeah, they should make their announcement so that we’re not all waiting around venting to one another.

  • Liz

It’s 3:01… WHERE IS THE ANNOUNCEMENT!

    • http://www.hypable.com/ Andrew Sims

They said ‘around 3′… would anyone honestly be surprised if it were late? … or if someone on the phone there had misinformation?

    • LizH

They aren’t so good at AM/PM. Maybe we’ll have an answer by early morning.

  • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

WHo were we kidding when we honestly thought there would be some answer at 3? HA. As if any of the info these workers gave us were correct.

    • Mandy

They probably haven’t come to a conclusion yet after all. If they did, why wouldn’t they just announce it?

  • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

Lincoln Center should never host any J.K. Rowling-related events, ever. This whole mess has opened up old wounds about the Deathly Hallows Part 2 premiere debacle.

    • jmurph92

What happened with that event exactly? I must’ve missed out.

      • Kor

All of the fans were fenced in like cattle across the street from the premiere in 100 degree heat. A few token people were picked and given wristbands, but the rest were left in the way-too-crowded barricaded area empty-handed and unable to see anything worth while. Basically: it was hell.

Well even the wristbands were done wrong… the first 50 people were guaranteed wristbands should wristbands be give out at all and not all of the 50 got them. Only the first group, the 2nd, my group and I believe just one more that were a little further back from us. and we were put in a barricade behind people. Luckily I was on the end so I can go to the side to get some autographs, while they put a new barricade up for the fans with blue or red in the barricade right next to us. But I saw the movie that night and I still met everyone that came near my barricade except for Emma. I’ve met everyone but JO and Emma that I care about.. the most at least. I would still love to meet Jason Issac, Ralph Finnes, Evanna and Matt Lewis. I have met Dan, Rupert, Tom, (will meet jo hopefully), and Alan Rickman.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

That was a mess but it worked out for me and my group so I am okay with it!

  • Mon

I’m really worried that we’re not going to get an answer today. Has anyone emailed the Little Brown email that customer service said to contact?

    • Mandy

I’ve been hesitant. Little Brown isn’t in charge of ticket sales, and I don’t want to bother them with something that isn’t their fault.

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I did and all they did was quote the blurb on the lincoln center page and said that we will be notified when a decision is made

  • Mo

I bought a set of earrings to give to Jo personally, I will be crushed if I cannot do this because my ticket is invalidated

  • mACK

    I WANT TO SCREEEEEAM!!! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHHHHH!!!!!

  • Scandaroona

    Hey guys!

I just called, and I got a lot of information. I don’t know how accurate it is, but the employee was very nice about it and didn’t sound like she was fabricating anything.

So: the 3:00 time wasn’t a given. She said that they hoped to have information up by some point in the afternoon, but that there was no set time — I’m wondering if the employee Hypable talked to simply translated “afternoon” as being around 3:00. Anyway, she said that no solution has been found yet, but they’re doing their best.

She also said that if you purchased a ticket after 10:00 AM, then those tickets are being honored. She sounded quite sure about that, and I very much want to believe her. As for the earlier tickets, she said that they simply hadn’t decided what to do. It sounds like no consensus has been reached as to whether they’ll be kept or canceled. So you Sunday folks can hold out hope, too.

That’s all I know — if anyone else has called in the last hour with different results, please say so, because I’d really like to believe this is true!

    • Mandy

Thanks very much for posting this. I hope we get official word soon!

    • Kor

Thanks for sharing! Any update is nice at this point.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1084724938 Lindsey Garcia

Well I hope that’s accurate, thanks!

  • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

Perhaps they expect us to “hack” the site again to find the announcement…

  • Molly

I think it is COMPLETELY unfair for Sunday night tickets to not be honored. I bought tickets at night, however, had they not gone onsale then, i would have been waiting at my computer at 10am on Monday to buy them. Instead, I felt confident that I had tickets, so I didn’t bother to even check on Monday. This is ridiculous and if everyone who bought tickets doesn’t get a spot at this event then something is wrong with the world. EVERYONE who bought a ticket should get a spot. Otherwise, I can assure you that JALC will get many strongly worded letters from me.

    • http://twitter.com/JediShywalker Shylah

If they wanted to invalidate Sunday tickets, then they should have done so by 10 AM yesterday to give all those who thought they purchased tickets the opportunity to rebook them with the rest of the 10 AM tickets.

This whole thing is such a mess.

      • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

@twitter-25147390:disqus @5cd8017ce29405f27fab039dcd61d230:disqus Exactly right. We all would have tried at the announced time if there hadn’t been this apparent opportunity to purchase early. That’s why the thought of not being able to meet Jo at this event makes me so upset. I’ve been waiting for this opportunity since I was thirteen (and I’m twenty-five now, so no pressure!) and to have it snatched away not because I just couldn’t get tickets, but because I happened to choose the wrong path in Lincoln Center’s ticket maze? It’s almost physically painful.

        • http://twitter.com/JediShywalker Shylah

Exactly. They missed their opportunity to ‘fix this’ yesterday. They cannot invalidate any tickets now without it being EXTREMELY unfair to people who purchased on both days.

10 AM came and went with no mention of invalid tickets. To go back and say ‘whoops sorry’ to people who purchased on Sunday is completely unfair.

At this point, they have two choices: invalidate ALL of the tickets and redo the sale with clear and accurate guidelines or find a way to accommodate ALL people who currently hold tickets.

Any decision outside of that is inherently unfair to all of the Rowling fans who just want to see her.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Its pretty much move venues or refund everyone and do this again fairly. It really isn’t fair that fans would be denied at this point. They are the ones that should of stopped this yesterday and deff could of because they obviously knew about it sunday night.

    • nova

That’s the thing that really is sticking in my craw that I just can’t shake. If they had told me at 9:55 my tickets weren’t valid I would have just tried at 10. However, when they went on sale at 10 I had an e-mail confirmation that I had two tickets, which, according to the site, was the limit a person was allowed to buy online. Whenever I think about this one point blood starts to rush to my head and I get heated all over again.

    • LizH

I have a nagging feeling that if the most ardent fans hadn’t already gotten confirmed tickets the night before, those who bought on Monday wouldn’t have been successful. Certainly, I *know* I didn’t work harder for a ticket than those who waited in line for days. The good news is, the longer JALC waits to hand out a decision, the harder they are trying to make things right.

      • Mandy

I don’t think that’s true. I bought mine Monday because I was asleep when they went on sale Sunday night.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

YEAH I only missed the tweet sent out because my mom cant pay phone bill so I wasn’t aware until I came back online. I eventually found out but it was too late. and had I had money to go to the box office, I would of camped out. I camped out 3 days for the premiere and have for many other things. They aren’t more deserving then anyone else. It sucks that some fans might be denied tickets now. Everyone with a ticket deserves to go.

    • Sarah

We really have to realize, though, that if they oversold that they have to do something. They may not be able to accommodate everyone, for a variety of reasons. JKR may not be able to physically sign the number of books. She may not be available for or willing to do a second night. They may not be able to move the venue. It is just as fair to decide that the first tickets bought are the ones honored as it is to say that the ones bought starting at 10am on Monday are the valid ones.
This sucks, admittedly, but unfortunately, something will have to be done, and it may not be possible to accommodate every ticket sold.
I also am saddened at the rage towards JALC because they are such a wonderful organization in general. But I know this hasn’t been handled the best.

    • steve

The fact that it was a Sunday night that the tickets leaked made it almost impossible for them to do anything about it. I’m sure no one was even aware that tickets went on sale the night before until they got to the office at 10AM Monday morning..

      • kat

They were called and notified Sunday night. One of my friends called and ask if it was real and the woman who answered told us the site wasn’t supposed to be up but they would be honored. So they were working, and they were aware it was happening

  • Sam

I was told at 12 today to check the website around 3, and that hopefully everyone would get a ticket.

    • Mandy

What time do they close? I really hope we get something by the end of the day.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

they close at 9 i believe!

        • Mandy

          Thanks!

      • http://forgiveyourmind.tumblr.com/ Tariq

        They close at 5.

        • Mon

Why do I have the feeling that they purposefully held off on giving the announcement at 3pm so people wouldn’t call in angry? That’s not an uncommon tactic.

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

          its actually 6…

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ
  • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

Although I’d like an official update right now, it makes me happy that they’re at least trying to find the best solution that will please everybody. That’s better than getting an update right now that says Sunday tickets are invalid.

  • Mon

I know I really should just get off the computer, and read a book and relax or something, but all I’m doing (and probably will do until an announcement is made) is refreshing this page to read new comments. Even though I’m really sad this whole thing is happening, I’m glad that I’m not alone in it.

    • Mandy

That is exactly what I’m doing and exactly how I feel.

      • http://twitter.com/JediShywalker Shylah

        Same.

    • Kor

      You’re definitely not alone! :)

    • Gina Nicole

Ditto! :( lol well, i’m at work haha but still

      • Mandy

I’m at work too, but I can’t seem to concentrate on anything but this.

  • http://twitter.com/BriannaOhara Brianna Selesky

My friend called and they said the most likely case is they are goin to either a) move the venue and everyone gets to go, but its general admission and the books will be pre-signed; so no interaction with Jo. Or b) all tickets are voided and they re-sell.
Don’t take any of this as fact though, as it seems everyone who calls is getting different answers. Neither of these options are too great.

    • Mon

I was literally about to write in the same thing! My friend’s mother called, and they told her both of these things too.

    • LizH

Ugh. Both of those options are sucky. Meeting Rowling is the main reason I was willing to travel from Boston to the event. Signed books can be had online, speeches can be streamed.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I’d rather have a resell because I care more about meeting her then anything else.

      • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

LOL, even when they make everyone happy, we are all unhappy! Meeting her was the most important thing to me as well. What I really wonder is how many extra people there really are, is it really too many to have her physically sign all the books? Like, if the audience doubled I could understand, but if there are only like 100 extra then not so much

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

If its completley doubled, then i can see why she couldnt. but then maybe the first 1100 can and the rest presigned books or something along those lines because thats why i wanted to go at all, was because i would meet her.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

IF they were to move venues, they should at least have her sign for a certain allowed time or certain number of books. Thats the whole purpose anyone really wants to go.. to meet her.

    • GN

TBH, I doubt they will do a re-sell.

Also, the signing – just have half of the audience meet her before 8PM and then the rest after the event at 9PM. I just don’t get what’s taking so long to figure out a solution.

They obviously don’t know how to deal with situations like this….which is kind of sad.

  • Mon

YES! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Hypable for following this story and updating fans!

  • Tea

Can Hypable please try to look into whether books will still be signed? Thanks for all of your research on this topic & giving us a place to post our thoughts.

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I didn’t even think about that, with the increased audience, she may not be able to sign anything. That was kind of the selling point, meeting Jo, I mean I’m still thrilled to go either way, but meeting her was definately the main reason I really wanted these tickets.

    • http://twitter.com/smaloy Sarah Maloy

On our last conversation with Lincoln Center (the main customer service line, not the one specific to JALC, because it was closed), we asked if the signings would still happen, and the representative said that there were no plans to change the structure of the event — only the venue. That isn’t completely official and may not be the final word, but it seems like they’re planning to keep the signing!

  • Christina

OMG THANK YOU FOR THIS INFORMATION AND KEEPING US UP TO DATE ON EVERYTHING!!

  • Gillian

So now how is this working? Is it now first-come, first-serve for seats since it’s a different venue?

  • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

Praise the LORD!!! I literally just screamed out loud at my internship and I don’t even care! I knew they couldn’t void all these tickets. Now all I wonder is how this will change the seating, but I really don’t care as long as I get to be there!

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

What are you talking about? Nothing has changed on the jalc site?

      • http://forgiveyourmind.tumblr.com/ Tariq

All of this information was via internal email that the Lincoln Center rep was kind enough to read aloud to me. She stated that everyone will receive an email and the website will be updated soon.

          I saw it now, thanks!

    • Mack

  • j

    YEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! im so happy!!!

  • Gina

Hm, so now we need to know:

    1) Once we get our tickets in the mail or will call, will we get assigned seats or will it say GA (general admission)?

    2) Will she still be signing each book in PERSON? Or will it be pre-signed?

    • sarah

This is absolutely what I want to know. I will be so devastated if we are unable to get our books signed personally :(

    • Thiago

I called the box office yesterday to ask if books would come pre-signed, since the website says that we would receive one signed copy of the casual vacancy, but it isn’t clear if she’s gonna sign them at the event or not. They told me that she would sign all books IN PERSON. But, considering everything that happened since yesterday, I’m not sure if that’s still gonna happen…

  • http://twitter.com/mattwiz13 Matthew Carenza

OMG THAT JUST MADE MY DAY!!!! I can’t believed we went through all that stressing out for nothing. I’m so happy right now it’s unbelievable. I’m still going to meet my idol!

BUTTERBEER FOR EVERYONE!! (Everyone else, that is– after the madness of the past two days, I need some firewhiskey.)

    • j

im with you on the firewhiskey! cheers!

  • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

If it helps, the Koch theater seats 2,586 people. Obviously they wont all be filled because even double sold, that would only be 2200 but the question is how many seats will be filled? Too many to proceed with the signing? And, if they do decide they already have too many people for a signing to take place, with the remaining 300 tickets be put up for sale?

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I dont think it was doubled booked at all. I think only a couple hundred were. and I hope they still have the signing cause thats what everyone wanted and was promised with our tickets. I do hope its GA now, that would make me happy since i had bad seats. omg.

      • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I’m torn about GA.On one hand my tickets were not great, but on the other I have my internship and all the people I am going with have school. Its not like we can stand outside all day. And if this becomes one of those things where they say GA and people line up days in advance that would be a big problem because those of us with jobs and school cant just drop out of society for a week to camp at Lincoln Center. I’m assuming that the seating in the venue can’t be much different and they will try to give equivilant seating to the ticket you purchased, with the exception of those that were double booked.

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

That would cause problems I think with those with double booked seats because who would earn that seat? Cause then they would be pushed to the back. Its more then likely going to be GA. I LOVE GA and you can bet I will be a crazy person camping out. I did before, and we know those girls who did for this will too since they camped out 6 days for the premiere. YOu still get to go though, remember that! :)

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

and its very similar in seating and numbering but there isn’t any box seats there so it deff cant be anything other then GA…

        • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

I understand your pain about having other commitments and not being able to camp out, but that’s how most fandom events usually are, whether it be a premiere, a concert, or a TV show/movie screening. At least with this event, I don’t think THAT many people can camp out days in advance because it’s on a Tuesday, and a lot of people have school. I myself cannot camp out days in advance and the earliest I’ll be able to go is that morning.

          • Gillian

I would have no problem with GA if that was always the case. Since the tickets did have specific seats, I do not feel it’s right to then just make it GA regardless of the screw-up. I didn’t think people would start camping out on Thursday for these tickets but they did. You can’t predict what the fandom is going to do and it means people will get screwed even more by GA.

          • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

I emailed them long before this whole ticket fiasco, and they told me it was general admission. And yes, I realize that their information is clearly not always reliable, but if it is true then that means they were always planning on making this event GA. *shrug* It’s not like we can do anything about it anyway, we’ll see what they decide to do. At least now we know that everyone who purchased a ticket will be able to attend.

          • Gillian

Then why would they let you pick your seats when the tickets actually went on sale? When I picked them up yesterday, she showed me the seating chart and where my tickets were. You don’t make people pick out their seats and then make it a free for all. It’s dangerous for everyone.

          • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

Oh really, they let you pick your seats at the box office? I wasn’t aware of that. When I bought my tickets online, it was just pure chance because the system randomly gave me a ticket out of whatever was available.

      • Mack

        GA?

        • Liz

          General Admission

      • Mack

Oh, brainfart on my part, dismiss that

          LOLL its okay!

SO confused right now to what message people are talking about! I hope if its true venues were switched but I hope we still get to meet her.

There’s an update posted by Hypable above, titled “UPDATE 4″

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I know! i saw it after that fact :D

  • juliana

thank you so much hypable for keeping us up to date. this was a stressful 2 days but i’m so glad it ended well for everyone who bought tickets. and it was great to read the comments and know i was not alone. i dont know any of you personally, but on october 16th it will be great to know you are all there too!

  • http://twitter.com/edclipse Edward Sam

Nice! Looks like everyone who bought tickets on both days will have their’s honored. The only downside to all of this is that Jo may not sign for everyone or at all in person.

  • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

AS much as this is a good thing… I really hope she still signs. I heard it was only a few hundred more tickets. This could always start earlier then planned. Or maybe she only signs for a certain amount of time or certain number of books. I really just wanna meet her. I also assume it will now be GA? I hope so!

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I hope she still signs too. Maybe they could keep the Talk part of the event at 8pm but have her sign some books before the event for those who can make it and some after, as planned for the rest.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I hope they dont sell more tickets or we deff wont have a chance at them being signed. I also doubt with the double booked seats no matter how many, that it will be assigned seats so I assume it will be GA, its the logical way to do it. I really just wanna meet her. I would crumple to pieces if we don’t. I have been too excited for this, as we all have, for a while and I would be greatly saddened if I don’t. My birthday is 2 days after, perfect birthday!

  • Samisemicolon

Does this mean more tickets will go on sale? The Koch theater has a capacity of 2713.

    • http://twitter.com/edclipse Edward Sam

I guess it all depends on if Jo is willing to sign for 2,713 people.

    • hpspnlover1

That is what I was thinking…please go on sell please!!! I think if Jo agrees to the 2713 we will be good to go… but then if they sold 2,200 total thats just 500 more tickets

      • Scandaroona

But then there’s no way any of the books will be signed. Which would be sad. I think people here are still holding out hopefully for telling her “thank you” and having the book signed.

    • LizH

If it’s general admission and/or Rowling is still signing the books in person, I hope not. This event keeps getting downgraded. I’m waiting for the email that says I can view Rowling’s interview from an adjacent room and stamp my own book with her approved signature.

I realize how bitter that sounds :) but I am feeling a little bait-and-switched (as I know others are as well, for different reasons). Still, the last thing I want is to decrease my chances of meeting Rowling by adding even more people to the mix.

    • Mon

If they plan on keeping it a signing, then no, I truly doubt they’ll do that. I also don’t think they oversold the whole event, just a few hundred. I’m hoping they don’t sell anymore because then we’re more likely to have the signing. Also, if it’s general admission, that’ll just make it even more of a headache to have THAT many people lining up to get seats.

      • sarah

Or if everyone who has a ticket now gets a different ticket that includes the signature, but they sell the extra seats to people who don’t get signatures. I mean, that seems fair. There’s no reason to not let people in perfectly good seats.

        • LizH

That sounds like a nice idea but awfully complicated to execute. If they open it up to the full venue, I’d be shocked if anyone gets to meet Rowling.

  • Mack

    THANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Mack

    Me so happy! :D
We did it kids! Pressure from the Potter Pundits has predictably prevailed again!

  • Liz

Ok. Sooo. I just called because I’m crazy. They said they moved it to the bigger theatre, yes. The lady on the phone may or may not have known was she was talking about when she said they did not know the status of the Sunday buyers tickets being valid or not… God, I hope we all get to go! I asked about seating also, she said they were trying to work it out. Also, and MOST IMPORTANTLY she said there were no changes to the event, so she will be signing the copies in person :D

    • Mon

Thanks for sharing this update! I hope that she was right and books will still be signed.

      • Liz

        Trust me! Me too! :D

The website says she is only signing The Casual Vacancy which is definitely awesome. However, my husband and I will both be in attendance and we don’t need 2 copies. I was really hoping she would sign one of her book and my first edition of Deathly Hallows. Oh well. WE GET TO FRIGGEN MEET JO!

        • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

It said specifically on the website that no outside books will be signed. I was going to try the same thing, but if they put it explicitly on their website, I am not going to risk it. I wouldn’t want to get thrown out or anything

          • Liz

Exactly!!! So, I guess I’m gonna make some money off of one then. :D LOL

          • Mack

Sooo technically asking her to sign a body part would not be an infringement of these rules?

          • Liz

They only said books… LOL :D

    • sarah

See, I just don’t see how this can be possible. If it’s double booked, we’ll be there til like 6am for everyone to get a signature. While I know we would all wait, I don’t think Jo would stay up to do that for us. :/

      • Liz

I think they only double booked 100 or so seats.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I dont think it was fully double booked. I think only a couple hundred were!

      • Liz

Jo loves us!!!! She would do anything for us!!!!! Except write another Harry Potter book….

      • nova

It’s not a true double booking. Logically, they would only have double booked the amount of tickets that were available online, and no one is sure if all of those tickets were double booked or not.

    • Danielle

      What time did you call?

      • Liz

        5:25pm.

  • http://twitter.com/edclipse Edward Sam

I hope Jo realizes how much everyone wants to see her in person and signs for everyone in attendance even if it is a couple hundred more people. It’s not everyday that she comes to NY for signing and I would be extremely disappointed if she doesn’t.

i was in the middle of buying my tickets yesterday when the order expired because the connection was slow. like i was about to enter my payment info. i emailed the publisher. like i should have those tickets. i really hope theyll have more tickets available.

  • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

YESSSSSS FINALLY, MY STRESS FROM THESE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS IS GONE.

  • nova

Awesome! Now I just guess the last things to learn will be seating (which I hope they just do randomly, put everyone’s name in the computer regardless of day and let it do its thing) and whether the books are pre-signed or signed live.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

its most likely to be GA seating because for one thing theres not even box seating there to make it similar to the jazz place and that way would totally be unfair too. I think GA, first come first seated. and I hope she does sign or i will be devastated!

      • nova

Yea but how are you going to safely let 1,500 people pick their own seats? Plus the Koch theater has 6 different levels how would they manage getting people safely up the stairs? Unless everyone lines up at the door and they fill up the rows like a graduation ceremony. I mean if they can figure out how to do it I’m not opposed to GA, it just seems like it would make life harder for everybody involved.

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

That can be done orderly if done right. But its also harder for them to assign seats SIMILAR tho. Random, sure, but similar? Thats impossible. Thats all I keep saying and keep getting yelled at. I just like camping out, SO WHAT.

    • Gillian

They have no way of contacting the people who bought the tickets in person. I bought mine at the box office and they didn’t get my email address or my phone number.

      • Mon

Wait, really? How are they going to alert people who bought them in person of the change at all?

        • Gillian

Well, I was always going to check out whatever was posted on the internet/their website and I hope the others will do the same so it’s not like we’re completely in the dark. And I’m sure the box office will get some calls too.

        • LizH

Probably post someone at the door at JALC. The venues aren’t that far apart, and you have to be a half hour early anyway.

          • Mon

I think this kind-of kills the idea of doing General Admission then. Anyone who bought tickets in person would have no way of finding out they would need to get there early to get a good seat. They’ll probably just go through and assign new seat either randomly or in order of purchase.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I hope they don’t do that. I’d be upset. I like GA.

      • nova

That does make it more complicated then.

    • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

I hope it’s first-come, first-serve seating. This event is general admission since we all paid the same price regardless of seating, and usually general admission means that it’s first-come, first serve. Like when you buy tickets for concerts at Irving, Gramercy, or Roseland, they also have designated seat numbers, but that’s just because the venue has a certain capacity so they have to sell the correct number. I think that would be the best way to solve the seating problem, since we’ve moved to a different venue and it’s absolutely impossible to assign seats fairly. Fandom events are usually first-come, first-serve anyway, so people shouldn’t be too disgruntled about that.

      • nova

I’m in no way the spokesperson for assigned seating and am all for general admission, but I do think safety wise the Koch Theater is not very conducive to it.

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

WELL Lincoln Center had the experience of fans camping out for the premieres that have happened there so its not that bad. and i wouldnt be THAT out of control since only ticketed people would even get in.

      • Gillian

You keep saying fandom events are usually first-come, first-serve and that is true. However, this event is not for Harry Potter, it is a book discussion for her book and that means that they didn’t expect the rush of people and it was supposed to be done in an orderly fashion. Most book discussions in venues like this are always assigned seats. Your examples of concerts at Irving and Roseland are not sound because there are no seats anyway.

        • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

It’s the only thing I had to compare to because book discussions are rarely in venues like this. The only book discussions I’ve been to have been at Barnes & Noble Union Square, (even for big celebs like Tina Fey, or when they had a Hunger Games signing with Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson), and seating was first-come, first serve. But hey, even though I prefer GA I honestly wouldn’t mind either way. Assigning us seats would reduce a lot of hassle and make it safer. Obviously it would still suck for people who are in the back.

    • siriusly

First-come first-serve seating would be horrible, considering people will probably camp out for that too! I don’t want a seat all the way in the back simply because I have a job.

      • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

But if they randomly assign you a new seat, you might get a seat in the back anyway :/

        • LizH

I’d almost rather get a seat in the back that no one’s going to elbow me for than wait in line and still get shuffled somewhere crappy.

          • KitKat

I agree, actually. Would like to not be trampled!

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Well, thats your problem.. you could always ask the day off, or to only work in the morning or something. I would camp out, simply for a good seat but because I actually love camping out, you make friends that way. My seat was last row at JALC, I would love if its GA which it really has to be to be fair to everyone.

        • Anna

“ask the day off” You obviously never had a job.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I have had a job actually and my mom obviously does and she can ask for days off so that IS possible.

          • Wendy

            is your mom an escort?

        • Liz

Have fun camping out. Seats will be assigned.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I wouldnt camp out for no reason. I just LIKE to.

    • Liz

Assigned seating similar to the original ticket. Signed live. I kind of used your comment as script when I called :D

  • Mandy

I was refreshing this page for 8 hours, and I leave my desk for half an hour to drive home from work and return to crazy awesome news! I am SO excited that I will, indeed, be spending my birthday meeting and listening to J.K. Rowling!!!

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

AHH my birthday is 2 days after! so im sooo happy too! :D

  • KitKat

So Sunday ticket people DEFINITELY get to go, right? For sure?! (I still feel anxious!)

    • GN

      Yep! You are safe!

      • KitKat

SUCH A RELIEF! :) I feel like I can finally *officially* tell people I’m going!

    • GN

I wonder if they stopped printing tickets today and will print new tickets? And ask all who bought tickets at box office, to return and get a new one in order to attend the new event location?

So many questions are still unanswered :(
      ….more waiting…

  • josh

I cannot handle the stress of a general admission. The comfort of assigned seating would be the only thing saving me from a heart attack. Please no GA

    • Liz

No GA. Seats will be reassigned and they will be contacting people starting tomorrow. :D

      • Gillian

How are they contacting the people who got tickets at the box office? I gave them no information aside from my credit card number.

        • Liz

I have no clue. I would call and ask them. :) They close at 9. Keep us posted, please!

          • Gillian

I called and she said to send an email with your information to customerservice@jalc.org. She was going to give me a phone number but said they would be swamped for days. So anyone else who bought at the box office, send them an email!

          • Liz

            Thanks for posting this!!!

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

How is that possible though… how would people in boxes get similar seats? I dont have a box but im wondering about that.. i dont wanna be in the back, I this isn’t true.

        • Mon

They’re not going to make it GA just so you can get a better seat. They’re doing this the fairest way possible for all customers. She’s still doing the signing, and you still get to go to an event that so many people would kill to attend. If you’re this disappointed in your seat, I’m sure there are many fans who would be willing to take it off your hands.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I only WANTED GA because it was said she may NOT do the signing which we still do not know about! Thats why i cared about having a better seat. I also just in general LOVE camping out for things, so excuse me for wanting GA. Its not against the law to want that. Its not fair to those with box seats that were near the stage or w.e who will prob now be in the back so it really isn’t fair. My friend had a perfect box seat who prob wont now.

        • Liz

They said similar seating, not exact. GA is not the best, people don’t have the luxury of camping out or getting there early because of people who actually work.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

EVEN If I did work, I would of asked for the day off for the event! I just LIKE camping out in general.

          • Liz

So obviously you don’t know how it works. Your job is your responsibility and not everyone gets days off.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I HAVE worked before. And before you ask, NO I didn’t get fired. They were seasonal jobs. My mom has a job, and SHE can get off if she needs to, especially in ADVANCE since this is in a month afterall.

          • Liz

I’m not saying she can’t get the day off. I’m saying that not everyone can get the day off! Different jobs/companies have different policies and it might not be possible to get that day off.

  • Liz

Literally just got off the phone with them. They had JUST made the decision and will be contacting everyone starting tomorrow. There WILL BE assigned seating. According to the lady, if you had Orchestra, you will still be in Orchestra.. etc. :D This is great news and we are ALL going and she will still be signing all books :D

    • KitKat

      Such good news!!!!! :)

    • Mon

How? I called at 6:30 and they were closed.

      • Liz

I called the box office, not customer service. Customer service seems to have been closed all day.

        • Mon

ok, cool, thanks for the update! I wonder how they’re going to assign seats for people who were in boxes.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

How can they do assigned seating? Like the people with boxes.. there is NO boxes at that new venue. I really hope IF they do assigned seating, its random because I dont wanna be in the back again. I like GA.

      • Liz

Similar seating, not exact. GA sucks for people who work and they know this. It is the fairest way to do similar seating.

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

similar seating doesnt exactly work very much with a total different seating chart. especially those with box seats. even IF i had good seats, id still want GA. I always loved GA seating, has nothing to do with my bad seat at all. I just love a reason to camp out. Its not fair to those who had box seats close to the stage like my friend, or anyone with box seats really. There is 3 levels of those. in reality, it really makes NO sense to do so.

          • Mon

I had box seats, and I think it’s perfectly fair. I still have a seat, I still get to see Jo, I still get my book signed. You want to camp out? Go ahead. Have fun. Your sense of entitlement is extremely grating. They’re doing what is truly the most fair for all parties involved. Don’t like it? Don’t go and sell your ticket to a fan who will actually appreciate it.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I NEVER freaking said I didn’t appreciate it! OMG. Everyone is being rude. It’s just my opinion. I truly am happy I am going, I say I want GA and its WWIII. I wouldn’t throw a tantrum if they don’t, which its looking like they aren’t. I am okay with whatever seats because shes apparently still signing!

          • Liz

I’m sure they will work it out just fine. You need to get over yourself. You’re going to see Jo. Shut your mouth!

          • JM

Kristen sounds like a bratty tween. Ignore her! Lets just be happy we’ll be getting our tiks & seeing JK live! :)

      • harrietpotter

your attitude is getting obnoxious. i’ve found your comments on all the sites and all you care about is you getting GA tickets or wanting better seats because you don’t want seats at the back. you have a seat, stop complaining. you aren’t lincoln center’s target audience, they aren’t going to appeal to you so just stop complaining already!

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I dont effing care if its getting obnoxious or not. I can state my opinion all I want, thank you. I for one go to a lot of events and I just like GA better because I love camping out for things. I actually care more about JK actually signing then it better GA or not. If shes not signing I want it to be GA, otherwise I wouldn’t even care. I had got over the bad seat yesterday.

          • Liz

So camp out for this no one is stopping you. You are friggen annoying. Nobody cares where you are sitting or what you want. This is an adult novel, act like a effin adult.

Let’s relax, it’s been a taxing day for us all. No need to lash out at one another, this is a joyous occasion lets treat one another with respect.

thank you. Even if your against me or not. I am not even trying to start anything. I voice my opinion for GA seats and its the end of the world. Like, whats wrong with wanting GA. It’s just an opinion. Everyones acting like I’m commiting a crime by saying that. I think the stress is A little too much for some people.

    • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

awesome, thanks for the update. I’m so happy Jo’s still going to sign everyone’s book. It’s actually happening, we’re going to meet her! This is a huge relief, although I know I’ll anxiously be waiting to be contacted.

      • Liz

I know. I may be able to sleep a bit better tonight!

    • kitster_kosh

YES! I was worried about losing my seat. I have Orchestra seats! And GA seat would totally stink because I’m flying from the other side of the country and with work and money can’t afford to camp out or anything.

  • Liz

Also, I say we should all get together outside before the show :D LOL All this stress really brought us together :D

    • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

Yes! We should all wear, like… I can’t even think, something that identifies us as Debacle Survivors.

      • Liz

YES!!! We should get shirts that say “I survived the sell-out of 2012!”

        • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

LOL someone should have those little plastic bracelets (like the LIvestrong ones) that say that. You can get them for like $1 a piece and sell them (not for profit just for reimbursement)

          • Liz

I agree. Jo would be bound to ask why so many people have the same bracelet :D

          • Liz

OMG! Or it should say “A Casual Over-Booking” LMFAO

          • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

            aha I love this idea.

          • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

Hmm… Would people really buy something like that?

          • http://www.facebook.com/elizabeth.a.galarza.7 Elizabeth Ann Galarza

            I would!

          • Mack

I’ll definitely do it if we could form a consensus of agreement among us (don’t want to be the only lone loser in a custom graphic t shirt). I love the idea tbh, I’ve felt a great sense of camaraderie on this page voicing my anxiety and lethal concern with you guys, i’m in if you are :-)

          • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

OMG that is Great! I would totally buy one. Maybe we could start some type of poll to find out whether or not people would really buy them? Unfortunately, there is no way of getting a deposit (even though they only cost like $1 each to make, that adds up when you buy a bunch). Maybe one of the fan sites like Mugglenet could engineer something? They would know better how to handle it and would be far more trustworthy than just some fan should it ever actually go foward and involve money.
BTW I think bracelets, although less obvious, would be better because a) people like me who have to come directly from work may not have time to change and b) we could wear the bracelets every day as a souvineer while the shirts will probably end up sitting in the back of the closet somewhere.
I agree with Mackthat I have felt a great sense of community on this page during the last few days and I never would have made it through the ordeal without everyone.

          • Liz

Anyone know anyone at Mugglenet?! :D

        • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

          I’m so in lol

  • hpboy13

Thank Merlin. Can I please breathe now? These last two days have been hell in a handbasket.

Also, since only 100 extra tickets were sold, I guess Jo is up for signing all the books as planned (because I doubted she’d sign 2200, if all the tickets had been double-sold).

  • Gillian

I commented this below but just in case: If you, like me, purchased tickets at the box office, send an email to customerservice@jalc.org with your address and phone number so they can contact you about the seat reassignment

    • nova

Just wondering how they would verify that you actually have a ticket.

      • Gillian

I honestly just thought the same thing. I gave my full name so maybe they can verify it with the paper I signed since I used a credit card. But I know people used cash too. I probably should have put my seat number in the email.

        • nova

if you used a card they could match the card info to your info. its the people who pay cash that could be tricky i would think. just sounds like an easy thing to scam.

          • Gillian

I think another option would be to go to the box office with your ticket. That way they know you bought one and can’t take the seat away.

        • Mon

Did they give you a ticket when you purchased at the box office? Or did they just give you a receipt? Because I would think that the procedure would be exactly the same as how it would have been if it were still being held at the Rose, so it really wouldn’t matter if they have your contact info. It only would have been an issue if it had been GA, so thankfully they didn’t do that. They’ll probably have a sign or a person at the Rose to make sure everyone knows that the event is happening at the new location, which is really close to the Rose.

          • Gillian

Yes, I have two tickets and a receipt but it’s hard to show that in an email. If they seem skeptical, I’ll go back to the box office with my tickets and get them adjusted that way.

          • Mon

No, I mean anyone who purchased at the box office today shouldn’t need to worry about emailing them at all. You’ll just give them the ticket you purchased. Each ticket has a unique code/number that is already in their system. When they assign new seating/tickets, they’ll assign them to the number on your ticket. So anyone who doesn’t check fansites and isn’t following this but bought tickets at the box office should be fine. They’ll just show up the night of and be given their newly assigned ticket/seat. That’s how any event I’ve ever attended that had been rescheduled or moved has been handled.

          • Gillian

Oh, okay. I understand what you’re saying. I’m just neurotic and would like to know where I’m sitting ahead of time. I don’t think they’re trying to take my ticket away, I just want to be informed of what they’re doing.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

but theres the problem with DOUBLE seats and box seats and there being more rows at rose then this place. i doubt its gonna be very similar at all.

          • Gillian

Since the rows have more seats in them than at the Rose Center, I think the people in the boxes will get in those seats. Like I was in row K at the Rose Center which only had three seats, row K in Koch has 14.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

true! but theres 3 LEVELS of box seats to do that and the fact theres AA-CC then A-T at JAZZ so everything would be messed up.. I just wanna know what the seating will be ahead of time, and if shes signing.

  • http://twitter.com/gaminette gaminette

Just want to say THANK YOU to all of you at Hypable for your ace reporting. You’ve been pretty much the only source of information about this ticket craziness. Your hard work is very much appreciated!

  • bagginsindeed

This may be a silly question, but I notice that lots of people seem to be commenting about “meeting” J.K., but it seems unlikely with an audience this size. I thought she was just speaking and the audience would be provided with books that she had pre-signed. Does anyone know for sure? It’s going to be awesome either way!

    • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

@disqus_KYiEhDqPO1:disqus just called them a couple hours ago and they said that J.K. Rowling will be signing everyone’s books.

      • bagginsindeed

But does that technically mean she could have signed them previously? A line of over 1,000+ people for signing would take hours, especially since we all love her so much…I just don’t want to get my hopes up. Thanks for sharing the info, though! I hope it is the case!

        • Mon

Yeah, I just assumed that the books would be pre-signed and given to audience members. It’s what they did for Much Ado with David Tennant and Catherine Tate. I can’t even imagine having her sign 1100 that night, let alone more.

        • Mandy

The way it’s worded on the JALC website makes me think that she will be signing them in person. “Only one signed copy of THE CASUAL VACANCY per person. Books brought in from the outside will not be signed.” Why would they worry about us trying to get her to sign books from the outside if they’re only giving us pre-signed books?

          • http://twitter.com/PteradactylCat Cat Koski

Basically, they don’t want you to bring your HP books to get signed. When John Green went on tour, they provided pre-signed books as you entered, but you were also allowed to bring your own books and get them signed in addition to the provided copy. Hope this helps. ;]

          • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

Well, if they are worried about people bringing HP then that means people will definately be going up to Rowling to get their books signed, otherwise it wouldn’t matter.

          • http://twitter.com/PteradactylCat Cat Koski

Yes, I was just trying to explain why they wouldn’t want outside books brought in. For those who say signing 2000+ books in one night might prompt pre-signed books, are forgetting that either way she still has to sign 2000+ books. So there really isn’t a reason to do that. At John’s signing he knew people wanted his other books signed which is why he pre-signed the one provided at the event.

          • Mandy

I get that they don’t want people bringing in other books to be signed, but if she’s not actually signing in person at the event, then there’s not much of a reason to warn us against it.

  • Kelly

I called and they said they will probably sell tickets for all the extra seats due to the larger venue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

wow. That means Jo is being very generous if she’s willing to sign over two thousand books! Can she get any more perfect?

      • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

Do you think we can hug her? (No. No, we can’t hug her.)

        • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

ha I wish. This woman shaped my entire life.

      • Mon

I would take everything with a grain of salt before getting too excited. They may just be guessing and not even realize that there’s supposed to be a signing too. The people you speak to on the phones are not the ones making decisions.

        • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

True. I mean, it doesn’t affect me either way since I already have tickets, but if they do decide to sell more tickets then a lot of people will be happy and those greedy scalpers won’t make any money.

          • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

Actually, if they sold more tickets it may effect you. If they decide to sell the 500 or more tickets that they now could, there is no way that this event could be a signing, it would last until 5am! Unless they somehow sold the extra tickets with presigned books…

    • http://twitter.com/smaloy Sarah Maloy

When we called customer service and were told about the new venue, they said that they would not be selling any more tickets and the event was officially sold out. Looks like there is still a bit of conflicting information going out!

I think it would be a shame to have moved it into a bigger venue and then not fill it! I think what they should do is honor everyone who got tickets on the 9th and 10th, and have them get a book signing, but open up tickets for the talk again, so more fans can get a chance to at least see her!

        • Mandy

That does make sense. I’d love for more people to go, but I really still want to meet her.

  • http://www.facebook.com/christythede Christy Thede

I’m curious what will happen to tickets purchased at the box office, since they don’t have any contact information for me and I have physical tickets already. I guess I might go by the box office to see if I can exchange them for seats at the new venue. I don’t want to have to deal with any confusion on the day of the event.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I saw that you can email
      customerservice@jalc.org with the info :)

      • icestudent

Just a heads up, I emailed customer service days ago about my seats, and they never got back to me. I would try calling, or going to the box office because it seems like they aren’t answering emails at the moment.

        • Gillian

I emailed them too it was past 6 o’clock and customer service hours might be different from regular ones. If I don’t hear anything during normal business hours tomorrow, then I’ll call again. The woman I talked to this evening (the one who suggested I email in the first place) said that the phone line for customer service has been really crazy.

          • icestudent

Have people been able to get through to customer service at all? I tried calling a few times today, and never got an answer, so I called the box office, which did have real people answering the phone. I sent of my email early Monday morning, I think they might just be swamped with emails over this.

  • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I don’t understand those giving me issues, just because I LIKE GA seating.. I never said I’d throw a tantrum or something if its not like that. I just happen to be able to go early & ENJOY going early. I have nothing against where I sit. I only said it will be difficult to make it similar with all the seating chart differences. Everyone has an opinion and thinks what they think will happen and at the time, before anyone had called about seating, that seemed the most logical way to go. I, like so many of you, only want to meet her, I don’t care where I sit at all! I am incredibly grateful I am going and I don’t care if I’m first or last row, as long as I get to tell the women who gave me & YOU a childhood, thanks. I hope we all find out officially tomorrow whats going on with the signing and we officially get word the venue is really being changed like they “said”.

    • Mandy

Yeah, it’s weird that they’re giving you such a hard time. We can all have opinions. I don’t happen to want GA because I can’t camp out, but I’m just happy that I have a seat. I don’t care where it is at this point. I just want to meet Jo.

    • LizH

I don’t think the issue was that you like GA seating. But the event was already assigned seating, and people were worried that they might lose their ticket entirely, get bumped from their existing seat into a nosebleed section, and/or not have their book signed because of the volume of people. If the event went GA and the rest of the theater was sold out, people who already fought for tickets to an intimate venue could’ve ended up waiting in line hours only to still end up with crappy seats.

When you say “I hope this goes to GA so I can get a better seat, and I will camp out days to do it” people hear “I will get YOUR seat, and you can go sit in the nosebleed section for all I care.” It’s fine if you think that, but it’s not going to be a very popular sentiment to share. Similarly, the people who posted how they hoped Sunday people would lose their tickets were also met with downvotes. It’s just rude, you know?

  • Sarah

A lot of people have mentioned that they think only about 100 extra tickets were sold. I’m curious where this info comes from (if anyone can tell me that would be great!). If that’s true, I imagine she’ll still sign all our books!

    • icestudent

Just peoples best guesses at this point, and the fact that she is still signing. The number is most likely somewhere between 100-300 seats oversold.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I heard 300 from someone on twitter early monday who I think found out from box office or something and everyone on here keeps saying 100 so hopefully thats all it is, because shes more likely to sign for everyone.

      • Mandy

It’s really not likely that only 100 seats were reserved for online purchase for a 1100-1200 person event. My guess would be more like 300-400.

  • Mack

I have to admit, the frayed sense of panic I’ve been in for nearly two days from all the misinformation has kind of been worth it; it’s like I got to feel the ecstatic euphoria twice (the second time being even better since I felt the anguish of the possibility of losing my ticket) :3

    • nova

Agreed. Life can definitely be more interesting when you’re a JK Rowling fan. I’ve never been so exasperated since I had to find that damned enchanted feather!

    • Mandy

Oh, I would rather have not experienced the crazy worry I had yesterday. I was ecstatic enough the first time, haha. The possibility of my tickets being taken away was devastating.

  • http://twitter.com/PteradactylCat Cat Koski

Has anyone who bought tickets on Sunday received a confirmation email, but not had their credit charged? I’ve been checking my statement since Sunday, and have hoped that it was just the usual delays, but I’m worried that they won’t honor my purchase seeing how they haven’t apparently charged me.

    • Mandy

I’m assuming all the confirmation emails were the same, but they said they’d be mailing tickets out within 72 hours, so I’d email/call them on Wednesday if you still haven’t been charged. If you give them your customer/order number, you should be able to prove that you did buy a ticket.

  • Kor

I noticed the weirdest thing on my statement this morning. My payment
was made, but before it was made, they credited me the amount. Doesn’t
    that cancel it out? Worried!

    • Mandy

Mine has been credited as well. :/

  • Nymeria

Guys! I just got off the phone with the box office. If money has been put back in your account it’s OK, someone will be contacting you in a few days to organize a new ticket for you. ALSO, no more tickets will be sold, and the total number of tickets sold was 1,700. In the official letter, it said that Jo wanted to make it so everyone got to go and no one was disappointed. I’m sure she knows that we would be disappointed if we didn’t get to have a book signed by her. 1,700 is a lot, but I think she’s done bigger signings before, hasn’t she?

    • Mandy

I respect this woman so much. She is such an amazing person.

    • Gillian

Even though I have emailed them my information, I don’t understand how they’re planning on contacting everyone who bought a ticket in person. Not everyone is on these sites to learn about this new information

      • steve

If you bought a ticket in person, you bought it on Monday. I don’t think anything needs to be done for those who purchased on Monday, just have someone at the original theater to direct them to Koch…

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Everyone who purchased a ticket should be emailed with the new location.. should they not? Not only the people who bought on sunday need to know that information. Or theres gonna be a mob of people angry that they weren’t notified about the change in venue ahead of time. Maybe there slowly letting people know?

          • http://twitter.com/PteradactylCat Cat Koski

Accept those who paid cash at the box office left no contact information for JALC.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Yeah I dont know what there doing with them at all. Maybe the day of they will get new ticket? I think the majority of tickets were bought online.

          • http://www.hypable.com/author/lauracristiano/ LauraBC

Here’s what our staffer found out in regards to anyone who paid cash at the box office. We believe this is a relatively small number of people.”Anyone
who paid cash is told to give their names and numbers to Lincoln
Center. Representatives will give them a call as soon as they get the
information about how they will go about this.” My assumption is that they’ll have to come back with the hard copy tickets they have in their possession and then be issued new ones since the seating in teh new venue is a completely differnt configuration

          • http://www.hypable.com/author/lauracristiano/ LauraBC

That is an excellent point! Let me bring this to the attention of the staffer who has been heading most of this investigation and see what info we can find out here!

    • Mack

      Are you sure?

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

ah, thought this was in reply to mine, but it wasn’t, my bad.
I’m not positive, no. But I heard one of them shes signing for everyone and the other one only 90 min. I believe both UK signings were over 2000 people but I could be wrong with that.

        • http://twitter.com/bagginsindeed Jessica Jordan

Is anyone else wondering if she is pre-signing the books and then they will be passed out? With 1,700 people, even if she only spent a minute with each person, it would still take over 28 hours for that line to move. Even if she only spent 30 seconds it would still take over 14…

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I believe one of the UK signings that shes signing for everyone at is over 2000! I’m glad to hear she didn’t wanna disappoint anyone! :)

    • Kor

Oh, good! Instant relief. Thanks for sharing!

  • Mandy

Just got this email from customer service:
“On Sunday, September 9, Jazz at Lincoln Center’s
ticketing system was breached and an unauthorized link to purchase tickets to
the J.K. Rowling The Casual Vacancy event on October 16 was distributed online. This breach did not result in the breach of
purchasers’ personal information. In order to accommodate customers who
purchased tickets on September 9 as well as customers who purchased tickets on
September 10, Jazz at Lincoln Center has secured the David H. Koch Theater at
20 Lincoln Center as the new location for the event. Each customer who purchased tickets prior to
the official on-sale date and time will be contacted directly by Jazz at
Lincoln Center to process tickets for the event at the new location. The event
remains sold out. At this time, only customers who purchased tickets on
September 9 and 10 will be accommodated. Although neither Little, Brown and
Company nor J.K. Rowling are responsible for this situation they were keen to
make sure that no person who legitimately bought a ticket was left
disappointed, and are delighted this matter has been resolved in this way and
apologize for any confusion that may have been caused in the meantime. Jazz at Lincoln Center apologizes too for any
inconvenience and looks forward to welcoming everyone to the David H. Koch
    Theater on October 16.”

    • Mandy

My concern is that this response says that each customer who purchased tickets on Sunday night will be contacted to process new tickets, but I purchased mine on Monday. My account has been credited, so now I’m worried about my tickets.

    • nova

Does anyone know if “each customer who purchased tickets prior to the on-sale official on-sale date and time for the event at the new location” means that Sunday buyers’ seating will be changed to be behind those who bought their tickets Monday?

      • Kor

Someone who spoke with the box office yesterday evening commented on here saying that they’d been told seats would be similar no matter when you bought. So if you had Row A, you’d still be Row A and so forth. Not sure how that works for the Box seats, however!

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Maybe they are refunding sunday tickets and then contacting everyone back to repurchase the ticket? Because theres all the double seats so they cant all fit where they originally were.

          • Kor

The tickets are already repurchased according to our bank statements, so I’m willing to bet they’ve already made seat reassignments and will inform when they contact the customer about the change.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Well mine is on my moms and she doesn’t ever check that. But that is probably the most logical thing they did then.

          • Mandy

            Mine has not been repurchased.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Now I really wanna ask my mom if it was or not cause I’m just curious. I just want to know before the show where my seat is. I don’t care where. it’s such a beautiful theater! Much better then Rose in my opinion! :)

          • Kor

            I agree! It looks beautiful!

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Reminds me of radio city which I adore a lot! I also love Lincoln Center which Rose was not actually in so I am happy with the change in venues. No one should be in the top of the venue since it won’t be fully sold. SO excited to go here instead! Especially since the HP premiere was there last summer and I attended it.

          • Mandy

So if we’ve been refunded and not charged again, will they probably re-charge us later?

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I would deff assume so! Some bank accounts are just slow, especially when you keep checking to see if anything changed. If 1700 sold is correct, that’s a lot to do that to if everyone is being refunded then recharged again.

          • Mandy

Haha, that’s a good point. I’ve been checking so often that their website won’t even load for me anymore. I think I single-handedly crashed their system.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

LOL. RELAX. it’s a lot to go through and fix. I was able to check my moms statement online and it still says pending.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

            Did it still cost $43?
my moms still shows pending from monday but money was taken out for it.

          • Mandy

But they also refunded my Monday ticket.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Did they? Then never mind. That statement makes it seem like only sunday people were.

      • nova

Apparently my fingers decided not to type the whole quote without informing my brain. I meant “Each customer who purchased tickets prior to the official on-sale date and time will be contacted directly by Jazz at Lincoln Center to process tickets for the event at the new location.”

        • Mandy

Yeah, I would think they should contact everyone who purchased tickets because no ticket will be the same.

  • http://twitter.com/summeryday Summer Ogata

It’s on the website now!!! http://www.jalc.org/concerts/details309a.asp?EventID=3251 It’s official!

  • josh

I sure hope she signs them all in person. I know its a lot of time and energy for her to do that, but an autograph means nothing to me unless I get it directly from the source. How do I know 100 percent she signed it unless she does it right in front of me? Love you Jo!

    • Kor

A looooot of people have been told by the box office/customer service that she’s still going to sign. It seems to be the one bit of info they all agree on, if that helps any. :)

  • josh

plus the chance to say a quick hello, officially meet her, and thank her would be amazing

  • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

Each person will be contacted with their new seat section and number, which will be similar to your seat and section you bought on September 9 & 10. Box seats will probably be placed in the AA/BB sections in the 1st/2nd/3rd rings and other extra rows that weren’t in the Rose Theater. That’s my guess.

Here is the PDF of the seating chart.http://davidhkochtheater.com/Downloads/DHKT-FullChart.pdf

    • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

Also, I do think she will be splitting the signings up and not doing them all after the show. Probably before and after or something like that.

    • Mandy

I’m really hoping this is true. I need to stop worrying about it and just wait until it’s all sorted out. I’m sure everything will be fine as long as we have our confirmation emails.

      • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

Looks like you can get a good seat wherever you sit which is good. It’s an older theater but it still looks beautiful. It’s across from Avery Fisher Hall/the fountain court, right outside from where the DH Pt II premiere was.

        • Mandy

I don’t even care what my seat is at this point. I’m still not convinced that I’m even going since my ticket was refunded.

          • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

TBH, it may just be your bank. My transaction is still pending..but I guess it looks like I’ll get my $$ refunded too.

I feel like we’re going to be on her discussing till the day of with all these slow updates!

          • Mandy

Thanks, I’m just so stressed about all of this. I need to walk away from the computer for a bit.

          • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

Walk it off, walk it off :) You’ll be fine! We’re all in this together.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

YEAH my moms account showed pending also, but money was taken.

          • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

Money was taken from me too. I’m hella confused, lol. I wish they gave a more in-depth explanation through e-mail or something. I don’t like getting bits and pieces at a time.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I think thats why it is so stressful. We technically aren’t finding a lot of this information from them. Only people who have called & got an answer and wrote it on here know anything. I think eventually they will send out emails with new seating/ venue information and possibly about the refunding/recharging since it looks like at some point it will happen to everyone. Its prob due to the change in venue because the tickets are gonna be changed too. I just want my ticket in my hands so I know 100% I am going.

          • Mandy

Exactly. Only when I have my ticket will I be completely satisfied.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

SAME HERE. I just want that! Knowing like 99% she is signing makes me only care about that ticket. I would love to know where I’m sitting as well though but I don’t care where that is anymore. SOOOOO excited this is working out for all :)

    • Kor

Did this information come from the box office?

      • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

Noooo, that’s why I said “That’s my guess” at the end of my comment lol

        • Kor

Whoops! Haha, sorry! Wasn’t paying attention; it sounded so official! Thanks.

          • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

            haha it’s ok! :)

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

It’s possible! Anything is at this point. There’s more seats in the rings then Rose Theater and the orch seems to hold more people as well so I think everyone is gonna be in totally different seats. Double seats and box seats more then likely will be in the rings for most part but quite a lot can fit in the orchestra since its bigger. but there is one less row then Rose here so most will prob be all the first orchestra people.

  • http://twitter.com/PteradactylCat Cat Koski

My account has been refunded? I purchased on the 9th, and finally got through to the main JALC number, apparently I’m not the only with this issue, as other have called in. I was told that they don’t know what’s happening and they’ve sent word to a higher up. Currently there is no one to refer me to, and I was encouraged to keep track of the updates.
This does not sound like honoring all tickets sold on the 9th.
I shall continue to wait to be contacted by the JALC, as stated above, but once again I’m in a horrible place of stress.

    • Kor

Maybe your bank hasn’t caught up yet? Could be! I was refunded as well, but then directly after the payment was taken again.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Did you use a debit card or a credit card? I think debit card payments show up faster cause its being directly taken out of the persons account.

      • Kor

        Agreed!

    • Mandy

I bought mine on the 10th, and I have been refunded. I have not been charged again yet. Maybe some are just slower than others. And mine is debit.

      • http://twitter.com/PteradactylCat Cat Koski

        Mine is debit as well.

        • Mandy

I think we just need to wait it out. It looks like we will be charged again, and it is just taking longer for us for some reason.

          • http://twitter.com/PteradactylCat Cat Koski

Yeah, it sucks that this is happening to all of us, but I’m kinda glad we all have each other for support.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I would just go with some banks are slower then others at showing up. They said everyone who purchased tickets both the 9th & 10th are the only ones aloud at the new venue so I doubt your not going to get a ticket.

      • Guest

Sadly it’s not a bank thing, as my account and several others have been refunded (not just Sunday people, but Monday too).

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Yeah but some people were also then recharged right after. It’s possible it just didn’t show up yet? Like my moms bank shows its still pending but the money was taken out. Doesn’t show money put back in.. yet,

        • Mandy

Yeah, but we think they’ll be charged again. Some people have been charged, refunded, and then charged again. I’m hoping that it’s just taking longer for some than others to see the second charge.

    • http://twitter.com/smaloy Sarah Maloy

One of the Hypable staff members was also refunded for tickets purchased on Monday — so it’s not just the Sunday tickets. We’ll keep you updated if we find out why this is happening!

Edit: It’s starting to look as if everyone is being refunded. It’s possible that they need to reprocess the transactions for the new theater. (Although that’s just my speculation…)

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Maybe only the tickets that were double sold were refunded?

      • Mandy

Thanks for all of the updates. It’s really good to know that we’re not alone in all of this.

      • http://twitter.com/PteradactylCat Cat Koski

I’m hoping it’s just some kind of system thing, where in order to relocate the tickets, money has to be shuffled around, that sort of thing.

      • http://twitter.com/PteradactylCat Cat Koski

        That’s what I’m hoping too!

  • Kaitlyn

Thank you Hypable for providing such complete coverage. I haven’t seen another site with as much information as quickly. I’m so relieved to have this resolved.

  • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I think Lincoln Center deserves the Dementors kiss for causing all this stress! It seems once one thing is resolved, there’s another thing right on top waiting to stress us out even more! This is going to be a long ass month, that’s for sure!

    • Mandy

To be fair, they are doing a pretty good job of cleaning up the mess so far. They made the best decision possible by moving to a larger venue. The initial problem was horrible, but I think we all just need to calm down and let them sort it out, which is much easier said than done.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

HAHA Oh I know! It’s just theres always something wrong. First it was tickets were released early & people thought there weren’t gonna be more monday, then there was and people were okay. Then there were more tickets sold then there should of been. It went back & forth about them being honored or not. Then they moved to a bigger venue, yey everyone gets to go & shes still supposed to sign. Now theres stress over refunds & recharged stuff, its like when will it end! They are getting stuff done though which is a step up from the mix answers for the first day.

        • Mandy

Yeah, that’s definitely true. Right now, I’m just trying not to worry about the refunds because they announced we’d all get in, so that says to me that in the end, all will be well.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

It does! It was officially posted on the site so it means everyone will be going! We all just gotta relax. I think I’m gonna go read a book instead of checking here all the time for up to date information.

        • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I think the refunds are because it says that we will be contacted to process new tickets. They probably cancelled all SUnday night orders to eliminate the double booking and will recharge us when we rebook

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

But people with monday tickets have been refunded as well. Its more likely the refunds are because of the new venue and everyone will be recharged at the new venue with new tickets and will then be contacted with the new seating information/venue.

  • nova

Is everyone getting the e-mail or just people who have already e-mailed customer service? Cause I still haven’t gotten one yet and I can’t tell from comments if the e-mails were sent as mass e-mails to everyone or replies.

    • Mandy

I received the email because I emailed them yesterday. The exact same message is displayed on their website though.

      • nova

perfect, thanks! one less thing I have to think about

    • Gillian

I think it’s possibly just replies, but it could also be sent to anyone who ordered tickets online. I don’t know since I bought mine in person.

    • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

I sent an e-mail to customer service on Monday: never got a reply. I didn’t get the e-mail sent this morning either.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I think its being sent to anyone with questions regarding sunday tickets being honored, its what was posted on the JK ROWLING event on JALC. I think EVERYONE will eventually get an email with new seating and the change in venues. They have to, or everyone but fans on here or people who have checked the website will even know it was changed.

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

Mine came through as a reply to what I sent them the other day. I would imagine they are starting with replies and then contacting the rest of you based on the email you used to buy the ticket.
The email says that everyone who bought tickets on the 9th will be contacted to process tickets for the event at the new location. I’m assuming this means that the people who bought tickets at the “proper” time will get seats that are as similar as possible to their JALC tickets and we will get reassigned to new seats, probably either in the back or filling in the extra seats in each row (as the rows are longer and can accomodate more people). I may end up with worse seats because of this, but I really don’t care as long as I get to go.

Someone on the leaky page about this said JKR signed for 2000 people at Carnegie Hall, and this is a little less so she should be. and by the statement, JKR didn’t want anyone who bought a ticket to be turned away so she obviously cares! She is a great women afterall, so no surprise! We shouldn’t need to worry about that then.

    • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

Omg, I’m going to bring her some Advil or a heating pad or something hahaha

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I know right? I don’t know how she does it.. but I think the event should start a little earlier or have some signing done before or were gonna be there SO late. I know I will be since my ticket will probably still be in the balcony area and I dont wanna be stuck missing all the trains home. But I am SO happy were still meeting her! I was SO worried about that.

        • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

I know! I don’t want to miss my bus either :(

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Depending on how late I personally get out, I don’t know if I will feel safe taking subway back to penn so I may walk and thats an hour. There is trains every hour up to 1 am so I should most deff be fine but you just don’t know how long this will take and its probably gonna go by section and I won’t be that close.

          • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

The area is pretty safe – I work like 4-5 blocks away from Lincoln Center, near Columbus Circle. You could take the 1 which is right there to Penn too. The only prob is late subway trains never come lol

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

HAHA I know! I went to the premiere at LC last summer and we went to the screening which was at the theater up the block from there. I took the subway back from there and have a few times since then but LATE at night, I just don’t feel safe. I’d rather walk. :)

          • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

Or just take the subway from Columbus Circle a few blocks up. Walking from LC to Penn will take a while lol. It takes me 20 minutes to walk from 41st to 57th and I’m speed walking haha

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

LOL. I don’t mind the walk! I walked there with 2 heavy bags of shit for the 3 days I camped out for and It took a little over an hour. I walk all the time when I go alone so I probably would end up walking. I will however take the subway to there cause I will probably still be very early cause the trains going there are odd so I have to take a 4 train.

          • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

            Power to ya girl hahahaha

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

LOL :) its just cheaper then taking the subway. Money is way to tight to get any extra money. PLUS I have to have my pinkberry fix since the last few times Ive been to NYC it never worked out.

        • http://twitter.com/PteradactylCat Cat Koski

A benefit of being closer to the end is actually having a chance to get a photo with her.
          !

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Does she ever take pic with people though? I feel like she doesn’t. I don’t care when I meet her or how long it may take because the longer it takes, the longer I can just admire her LMFAO

          • Mandy

I would definitely not get my hopes up about getting a photo with Jo.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

OH I know! @twitter-156562780:disqus mentioned that. I don’t have any hope to get a pic with her! She doesn’t really do pic I dont think. Maybe if at all, at GMA if I go.

        • kitster_kosh

Do you really think she will sign them all there? If the event is so late, I thought that maybe they would be presigned…? (although hoping not)

    • Mandy

Knowing that they contacted her about this issue makes me feel just a tad closer to her, haha.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I know! I mean they kinda had to ask her if its okay! Little Brown probably did though, not JALC since Little Brown booked this. JKR just consented to it :) SO excited!

  • Liz

After this mess, Jo is never coming back to America. LOL :) She’s probably thinking “THIS is why everyone calls them crazy Americans!!!” :D

    • Mandy

Haha, I wouldn’t blame her. It has been pretty bad.

    • http://twitter.com/edclipse Edward Sam

Well, anyone would have been upset over the possibility of getting their ticket invalidated, especially for an event of this magnitude.

      • Liz

I know. I was making a joke. :D I am extremely giddy that we all get to go :P

  • Liz

Would Hypable have the funding to sell bracelets at face value for this community who stuck together from the beginning until “the very end?” :D

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

Love that idea and several people below have said they would buy them. They really don’t cost that much to make and they could be sold for like $1 or $2. Someone last night said they should say ” A Casual Overbooking” and we could maybe put the date too

      • Liz

I said that :D LOLOL. Which date should we put? 9/10/12 or 10/16/12? LOL

        • Kor

Maybe 10/16 so that 9/09 people don’t feel left out? :D

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I would totally buy this! and 10/16/12 would be good LOL

          • Mandy

            I would too!

        • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

          I think 10/16 is best

      • Kor

haha! “A Casual Overbooking” is hilarious!

  • Kor

Anyone have any idea if Sunday ticket buyers can pick-up their tickets at the box office tomorrow? Should we wait and give them a few days or?

    • Mandy

According to the email, yes, but I’m guessing they won’t actually be available yet. I would definitely call first.

  • Sarah
    • Sarah

Shoot, sorry, the link isn’t working! But she signed exactly 1700 copies for a Deathly Hallows signing!

  • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Has anyone called today to find out anything? I was thinking of calling to ask when we will get updated seat location and when tickets will be mailed out.

    • Mandy

Yeah, I hope somebody has/can. I’ve been at work and can’t make a call. I’ve tried emailing, but they haven’t given me anything other than that statement.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I may try calling after I have some lunch. I hate talking on the phone though. We’ll see.

Cool, let us know if you find anything out if you do call. :)

            Of course!

          • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

            Let me know too!

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I just tried to call customer service and it rang about five times before the line just went dead (to one of those beeping sounds as though the call couldn’t be connected). I imagine that they are getting hundreds of calls an have just given up answering the phone.

      • Mandy

        How helpful of them.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

        What number is customer service?
        (212) 258-9800 is what I had my mom call and they answered about 2 hours ago.

  • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

Does anyone else care much more about just meeting Jo in person than they do about getting the book signed? While that would be cool, it’s unlikely she’ll be able to personalize anything– I really just want a few moments of face-to-face time with the amazing person who defined my childhood and left a beautiful lightning-bolt scar on my heart.

    Drat, where are the tissues…

    • nova

At the singing for Carnegie hall you basically stood in front of her for half a second while she handed you a book and then staff nudged you along the line. The only people she really seemed to stop for were children. At least that’s what I remember, it was, like, 5 years ago.

      • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

I guess I should bring my 12 year old twin sisters? LOL

      • Sarah

Were you able to say anything brief to her … like “thank you for everything”?

        • nova

Sure, you have the time while she’s handed the book, signing the book, and handing the book to you to say something. and I’m sure if you say something the handlers won’t stop you mid sentence as long as you don’t go on (not that I’m an expert on this in the least)

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I deff care about meeting her more than the book being signed. I am writing her a letter tho!

  • Mandy

From Leaky: everyone will be “contacted via email with information regarding repurchasing tickets to account for seating changes in the new theater.”

    • Mandy

So everyone will be refunded and then sent an email about purchasing a new ticket for the new venue.

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I’m assuming that this whole “repurchasing” thing means will will just be re-buying seating in the new theater that is similar to our old seating? They’re not putting all of the tickets back out there for first come first serve seating right, because that wouldn’t be fair?

      • Mandy

Based on everything else we’ve heard, that’s what I’d assume, but really who knows?

  • kitster_kosh

I made a facebook event for us to freak out together– cause that’s what Harry Potter fans do! Please join.

      I joined :D

  • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

So according to Leaky, EVERYONE will be refunded and we’re all going to be contacted to repurchase tickets. Oh jeez, I’m now worried about how this is going to work, since they don’t have everyone’s email address & phone number.

  • http://twitter.com/edclipse Edward Sam

-.- Every time I come back to this comment section, there’s a new development. So we have to purchase ticket(s) for the new venue now?

    • Mandy

Yes, you will be refunded for the old tickets. Then you just wait for an email from JALC telling you to purchase new tickets. This is true for everyone who bought tickets on Sunday and Monday.

  • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Yeah what leaky is saying is true! Thats what they told my mom when she called a few hours ago! They said everyone will be refunded but they dont know when we will be emailed regarding getting new tickets. I’m curious to how this is working? Maybe they are doing it this way so IF anyone for some reason can’t go anymore (a lot bought without even finding out if there able to) there is less people at the event. I also think a lot of it is due to the new venue and the double booking of some tickets. Maybe they will only allow US to repurchase at a new link as if we were buying them to begin with? I guess this stress is never going to end. Back to checking my email like a crazy person. The days go so slow wondering whats going to happen next. What should of been a simple purchase of tickets is taking forever.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1128995453 Lauren Spellman

What about those who bought tickets on Monday? Will we be contacted with our new seats and information?

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

everyone has to be contacted at some point about new seats and the venue cause besides us, leaky people, mugglenet and ppl who may of went on JALC site, even know most of this is even happening.

    • http://www.facebook.com/elizabeth.a.galarza.7 Elizabeth Ann Galarza

When I called today they said only Sunday night purchasers will be called. I’m confused.

      • Mandy

Everyone’s receiving different information because the box office people don’t make the decisions. They just do their best to tell us what they know. What I do know is that I purchased my ticket on Monday, and I have received a refund, so I believe they are having everyone repurchase their tickets, not just the Sunday people.

  • Mandy

    Another update on Leaky:
“Update 2! If you bought your ticket with a credit card they will call you. If you bought it at the box office with a credit card, they will also call you. If you bought your ticket at the box office using CASH, you have to call THEM. Call 212-258-9800 and indicate you have a ticket and a confirmation and paid cash. DO NOT go down to the theater: call instead.”

  • shannonmcclendon

So, will everyone still get a signed copy of her book? And when can we pick our tickets up? Can’t wait!!!!

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

They said everyone is supposed to when people called and I believe her signings in 1 of the UK ones is about 2000 and this is 1700 apparently so I am sure she is! They said the event itself is supposed to go ahead as planned.

      • shannonmcclendon

Great to hear! Thanks for the response.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

someone called earlier today and posted on leaky that they said EVERYONE will get their books signed and will be called up section by section! It will just take time!

  • zechs

Confused: what if you bought ticket over the phone? Will they call me? Because they never requested an email from me. I even asked for a confirmation email when I bought the tix and they said that they don’t do that with phone orders.

    • Mandy

I would call them just in case.
So far, though, I don’t think anyone has said that they’ve been called/emailed yet.

  • Amanda

Thanks Hypable for the info! Now just waiting for refund and to repurchase tickets. Since there are going to be more people, will JKR be signing books for everyone? I really hope so, but that at is alot of books

  • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

Are we sure that EVERYONE will be getting refunds? When I spoke to the box office today, she said they would just be contacting us about new seats and that she didn’t know why we would get refunds or have to do anything to repurchase tickets, just that they would be giving us new seats. But then again they aren’t always right, as we have learned!
My account also still shows the charge, although it says pending. Maybe only the orders that actually went through are being cancelled and reprocessed while those that were still pending when the decision was made will not?

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

MAYBE. that actually seems likely. My moms statement still says pending so its possible only those that went through did but who the eff knows. We keep getting mixed answers and its making me so stressed.

    • Mandy

The posts on Leaky and Mugglenet say that every person will receive a refund and be contacted to repurchase their tickets. The box office hasn’t been the official word on any of the matters so far, so I wouldn’t jump to any conclusions based on what you hear from them.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

LEAKY AND MUGGLENET are getting their answers from the box office also…

        • Mandy

Oh, okay. I didn’t see that mentioned in the article.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Its the only way to get answers…they more then likely call them just like we do but tell them they are from blah blah site.

    • nova

Don’t forget they have to refund 1,700 charges. Mine was refunded at about 4 p.m. today which was hours after the first person mentioned it happened to them. We all know how unreliable the employees’ information is at this point. It makes sense that everyone would get a refund if by ‘processing tickets’ they mean ‘repurchasing tickets,’ like Leaky says. I would think they just haven’t gotten to your charge yet.

      • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

That’s true…it may show up in the next day or two. I think that the woman at the box office may have been confused becaue this is not really a true “refund” insted the order is just being cancelled and reapplied.
At think point, I really don’t care how this is going to work as long as I get to go. I’ll just sit back and wait until they call and see what happens!

  • Mack

Has anyone yet received an email or phonecall for repurchasing tickets yet?

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

i dont think so. I think they have to refund first then probably contact everyone at once? unless they are truly calling each and every person which would take so long to do.

  • Mandy

So now, neither the original charge to my card nor the refund shows up on my statement. They were both there an hour ago. I don’t know how important that is, other than the fact that I can’t prove that it was ever there.

    • Guest

The charge and credit are now showing under my posted transactions, as opposed to pending transactions. I guess they wil now (hopefully soon) reprocess and charge me again?

      • Guest

By the way, at least we’re progressing here. I hope this will all be straightened out within the next day, or two.

  • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

As of this morning, the money has been deposited in my bank account. I noticed extra money and got excited hahaha but it’s because of the tickets :(

    • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

P.S. I had a dream last night that we all got e-mails stating our new seats and sections and we had to follow some link to follow through with the purchase. LOL, I am NOW dreaming about this……jeez!

      • Mandy

If only it were real life. I want the e-mails now, haha. I have no patience.

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I have the worlds worst patience. UGH.

  • Mandy

Okay, yesterday, the original charge and the refund were on my account. Last night around midnight, BOTH of them disappeared. And now a new charge on 9/12 shows up for (I’m guessing) my new tickets. It looks like progress is happening! Hopefully I will see an email today as well.

    • Katy

You make me hopeful! I still have a refunded amount/debited amount combination that basically cancels itself out. :/

      • Mandy

Yup, that lines up with what my experience was. It looks like it just happens after different times for everyone. Eventually, you should be charged for your new ticket like I was. And then we should all be contacted sometime after that, I believe. I know it’s stressful, but it’s nice to come here and see that everyone is experiencing the same things.

  • josh

The pending charge has disappeared as if no purchase ever happened. This may be the first time I ever want to see a new purchase be added to my activity. (needs to see David Koch theater charge soon, or will be stressed all day)

    • Mandy

You should see a new one eventually. The same thing happened to me.

      • josh

        sweet,thanx

  • zechs

I hate to keep bothering the employees, but has anyone contacted them today for any update? Maybe their recent statement is self explanatory but I’m still anxious about when and how this re-processing thing works.

    • Mandy

Edit: Whoops, responded in the wrong place.

  • Kor

Apparently JALC has been too busy redesigning their website to give us answers….

    • Mandy

As far as I can tell, the message about changing venues is gone, and I don’t even see the J.K. Rowling event in the event calendar.

      • Kor

Yeah, I don’t either. :/ I guess JALC doesn’t consider this one of their events anymore since it moved to the David Koch theater? But that’s a bit nerve wracking because they still need to handle our tickets (or so they said, anyways).

  • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Now my moms statement shows the JALC charge as going through instead of pending.. I thought it was supposed to be refunded and recharged. GETTING stressed here. As if I wasn’t already. I miss the first 2 days when there was a lot going on. Now I am just impatient.

P.S, since JALC seems to of redid there website instead of helping with this, does it mean all this is now moved to the new venue? Maybe there taking care of new seating?

    • Mandy

I don’t think so. My re-purchase is from JALC.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

ohhh. well idk then. i will see what my mom says whenever she gets home.

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

My order has gone through, but when I spoke to the box office yesterday, they said they didn’t think that we would be refunded, just that the venue would change and we would be contacted about new seats. I imagine it will be a day or two more before we are conacted because they not only have to reassign seats to everyone, but make sure all those people get seats that are equal to their original seats.
BTW to anyone with a box seat (like me) I was told that we would probably be put in the second level.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Well according to the person that called Koch, they may not even be similar anymore. Which I honestly don’t care about… bad or good seats, I just want to know WHERE my seat is. That’s all.

They keep changing their answers. To be honest, I never thought they would try to keep it similar. I mean they could be trying to keep it similar in the order they call people, but it is very hard to have to call 1700 people, (well prob about half since majority of people prob bought 2 tickets together), but thats hard enough, imagine having to call people in a specific order? That would just be hell. I assume they are calling because they prob wanna bring the number of people down if people are unable to go anymore and because they can’t possibly have us do it ourselves as if we were buying them to begin with cause anyone could give out the link, etc.
I do hope my seat isnt TOO bad because who knows how long this will take and I don’t wanna miss my train home. I will end up walking back to penn since I don’t like being alone on a subway late at night.

As far as you being told about no refunds, I doubt thats true. That person obviously is one of the ones who don’t know shit about whats going on. My charge went through as of yesterday. They are doing this slowly I bet. Maybe tomorrow we will start getting phone calls? Or next week,

I don’t know how much more I can take. I just want the ticket in my hand.

        • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I will be taking a cab back to Grand Central as well rather than taking a subway but I am still super worried about missing it.
I’ve given up asking them for information and I’m just waiting for my call.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I am the worlds most impatient person. I just wanna know whats going on at the moment. I doubt anything is gonna happen until next week… they dont do this stuff on weekends right?

  • Liz

This is absolutely insane! We are back to little information again with the new theatre. I called them and they told me that yes, they would be the ones contacting us. They don’t know how the seating is going to work though. Ugh! When this process is all over, then I can celebrate. Until then, stress it is!

    • shan

      I feel the same way!!!

  • Mon

    I
don’t think JALC is handling it at all anymore. I just called the Koch
theater, and the ticket office said that all the charges from JALC would be
refunded and that you shouldn’t see a charge until the Koch theater
contacts you to repurchase your ticket. She also said this would take a few days
before they start calling/emailing, and they don’t know in what order they’re calling. Everyone who already had a ticket is guaranteed a seat, but they are not guaranteeing it will be similar. I think that’s fine though, since nobody paid extra for special seating.

    • Katy

      Thanks for the update!

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

thats strange because my card statement just switched from pending to charged, although I guess that doesn’t mean they won’t still cancel it. I was also told that we would have seating that was failry similar to what we already had. But the box office giving different information every time someone calls isn’t news! Perhaps they just can’t guarantee it will be similar because that’s not true for everybody. With the double booked seats, someone (probably those of us who bought on Sunday) will end up with a different, most likely worse seat.
I’m curious to know how they are going to handle contacting everybody. If they aren’t doing similar seating, then will you be seated in the order you’re called (like the people called first will be in the first row, because that doesn’t exactly seem fair). I would have to guess that they will be calling people with Handicapped seating first, since they are the only ones who need specific accomodations. Then probably the Monday buyers and the Sunday buyers, but I don’t know what the order could be beyond that.
As long as I am guaranteed a seat somewhere in that theater and a chance to get up close and personal with Jo, nothing else matters (although I am worried that if I wind up too far in the back I will miss the last train home.)

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I would assume the order in which were contacted, which looks to be the phone cause they’e said that to a lot of us, will be in order of seating. The only way it can be similar is if they try to call people in order of the other seating which would be harder for KOCH since the seating was done thru JALC and there refunding us and they may not have the info anymore after that. I just want some time frame of which there starting to call us and how long they think it will take to get to everyone.

        • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

Yes, I just want to know where I am sitting!
I wish that they could make a special ticket for those of us who could prove that we need to take a train/bus home. The last train to where I live is at like 1am, and my seat is kind of towards the back (my old seat anyway). I don’t care about waiting for hours in line to meet Jo, but I will care if I wind up stranded in Manhattan because I live way to far away to take a cab home.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Yeah same! The last train is 1 am, then theres not another one until 3. I wanna try to get home as early as possible since my mom has to get me from train station as its too far to walk alone in the dark, nor is it safe. I don’t wanna be stranded at the train station. In the past, when I got home at almost 1 which would be on a 12 train, she had fallen asleep and didn’t pick up the phone or my phone died and I couldnt call her and I had to borrow peoples phones. I have no problem waiting, like you said, but I would love to be on a train by 12 the latest but that would mean getting out of there by 11 which isn’t going to happen unless I manage to get a really good seat which I won’t if its going close to the last seating. BTW, I was bored and counted the orch seats and theres 852 which is a bit more then JALC which I believe has under 700 or about 700.

          • Mack

Which train? Where do you live?

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Maybe we should email THEM instead. Maybe then we would get SOME answers. I just want to know WHEN they are starting to contact us so I don’t sit in front of my email and here all day. It’s beyond stressful and I hope I never have to deal with LC tickets again. IF she happens to write another book and come back to NY, it better be SOME WHERE ELSE.

    • Mandy

I’m still unsure about this. I was charged, refunded, and then charged again by JALC.

      • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

SINCE the koch theater seems to be taking care of everything now for the most part, maybe we should start calling/emailing them for answers! Above are all the contact info for the theater is you wanted to ask them anything :) I am going to email them in regards to when we may start getting contacted for new seats. If I get anything back, I will let you know!

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

Thanks! Hypable and fans have been the ONLY source of information this week. I think I will wait until tomorrow though to contact them, give them a little time to at least start sorting this whole mess out before I bombard them with questions they may not have answers to yet.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

:) I asked them to please respond with whatever they know. I am just way to impatient waiting for answers. I did say that ANY info they have would be nice and if they can let us know exactly what there doing right now so we know would be helpful also. I mentioned seats as well. I wasn’t rude or anything. SO far, I have no response.

  • Katy

Anyone else completely annoyed by the fact that articles (such as this one: http://observer.com/2012/09/relief-for-rabid-j-k-rowling-readers/) completely place the blame of this mess on fans and claim that we bought “fake,” “illegitimate” tickets when we totally didn’t? I left a comment telling the truth on this article and they deleted it almost instantly.

    • Katy

EDIT: Now the comment has reappeared; I guess it was being authorized. Still annoyed by the article, though.

    • Liz

They need to stop blaming the fans and start blaming the venue for having such lax security measures in place. The link was posted, and people bought the tickets fair and square. I was not one of them, but if I had saw the link, you could be damn sure I would have been.

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I do take offense to that. Its not like someone posted and said “Hey! I just Hacked the Lincoln Center website, lets all get tickets early!” The link was posted and because it was ON THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE we all just assumed it was legit.
This mess is ENTIRELY the faul of Lincoln Center and maybe if ANY information had been posted on their website about sale times we would have been a little more suspicisous. Most people (including myself) were either told that they were unsure if there would be an online sale or that there wouldn’t be one. So when tickets poped up, most of us assumed that they changed their mind and chose to do a presale online to lessen the impact on the phone lines the next day.
However, I don’t really think this article is saying it was our fault, just that we bought the tickets “iligitamately”, which is sort of true, but not really. They don’t give the whole story here, about lack of information.

    • Mon

I just saw that and left a pretty hefty response.

    • nova

To be fair to news sources the words ‘authorized’, ‘unauthorized’, ‘legitimately’, and ‘illegitimately’ have been thrown around quite a bit by JALC . The only line that matters to me though is ‘Little, Brown and Company (and) J.K. Rowling…were keen to make sure that no person who legitimately bought a ticket was left disappointed.” If I’m reading that correctly at least J.K Rowling and her publisher think are tickets were legitimately.

In the end these stories do get me mad though.

  • Liz

This is all absolutely riddikulus to put us all through so much stress over this event. We all purchased tickets like we were supposed to. The fact that will now have to wait to be called, and then repurchase our tickets is appalling. They effed up, why are the purchasers being jerked around!?

    • josh

Siriusly! Just tell me what my new seat is and mail the Damn ticket

      • josh

Lol let me add please. I cant be too upset because I am lucky enough to see JK Rowling!

  • shan

My charge has dissapeared from my bank statement! I am very worried. Has anyone been contacted yet? I purchased mine on the phone. I have called David Koch center and they tellme I will be contacted shortly. I just want to make sure I have my ticket, I feel so nervous.

    • Gillian

      Mine is still pending.

      • josh

Thought mine vanished but it is still pending as well

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

mine went through as of yesterday but no other charges.

    • Mon

That’s a good thing! JALC has to refund you in order of Koch to charge you for your new ticket. At least, that’s what Koch told me.

  • park

I am so nervous, my bank statment no longer has a charge for the event. Has anyone been contacted yet? Hopefully this will all be settled soon before I have (we all have) a nervous breakdown. Good luck to everyone.

    • Hannah

Me too! They took the charge off my card and now I’m freaking out :( :( :(

      • Mandy

That’s happening to everyone. You will be charged again eventually.

  • Mack

    I say we all pitch in and buy Jo a special gift, then present it to her there :-}

  • Mack

    I say we all pitch in and buy Jo a special gift and present it to her there :-}

  • Zechs

I hope we see some major updates and ticket processing/finalizations going on friday or else I may need a case of butterbeer.

    • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

I’ll buy some for you! Ironically, I’m headed to Wizarding World on Sunday.

      • Mandy

        That’s so fun!!! Yay!

  • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

Yesterday I see they deposited the ticket purchase into my account….and this morning I wake up and see they withdrew it again and it’s POSTED. I didn’t repurchase tickets tho – why would they take the money back out for good? Ugh, esp. without calling me! That’s not right. Any transaction they do they should call or e-mail the person esp. if they withdrew, deposited, then withdrew again.

    • Mandy

They did the same to me yesterday.

      • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

I don’t see this getting any better. The Koch theater has no idea what they are getting themselves into and they aren’t doing much to make us feel reassured.

JALC should have sent EVERYONE e-mails about whats going on. A lot of the people who bought tickets aren’t checking websites like this so they are going to call numerous times esp. with the random charging on their cards. So, to relieve some of the phone lines – just write a quick e-mail and that’s that. I feel like our money is a juggling act between Koch and JALC.

        • nova

Was the new charge by JALC or Koch? I wish they would just send us an e-mail outlining the steps they’ve decided on taking to resolve the issue. Especially if it involves our bank accounts.

          • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

The POSTED charge was JALC. I don’t have any transactions from Koch at all.

          • Mandy

            It was JALC for me.

    • Gillian

Just saw that this happened to me. Only mine was still pending last night and nothing is actually posted but the money’s gone.

  • zechs

Please hypable, or mugglenet, leaky, whomever..do some more investigating. Things have been pretty quiet compared to last few days

    • http://twitter.com/saltshul sami ariel

does anyone have any new info? i mean, it’s sunday and i have yet to hear anything and am starting to wonder if i should call the box office?

      • Cj

        I’m wondering the same thing!v #scaredv

  • josh

I emailed the david koch theater for an update and got this:

    -”The
two organizations are working out the logistics of the transfer of this
event to the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center before ticket
purchasers are contacted. The event remains “Sold Out” and only
customers who purchased tickets on September 9 or 10 will be
    accommodated.

    Thanks for your patience.

    DHKT Customer Service.”-
I guess it’s best to try to control my self and let time pass and let them work it out. Just don’t know how I’ll stop stressing until physical tickets are in my hand.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Yeah I got this also in reply to my email to them. while the other one says to call them when I can.

  • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I don’t know why, but I got an email from someone from the theater that I didn’t email, to call them when I can… going to do so now and see why.

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

So did you get a new seat then? Or do you have to wait until next week as well?

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

NO, she just asked my phone number to call me on when they do, my seat info (i guess there attempting to make it similar), when I bought tickets and how i bought them, and she said they dont know what there doing exactly about seats and SHOULD be calling early- mid next week about the NEW seats. I SO wish I had a new seat now. I dont think anyone will be seated higher then ring 3.

        • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

They definitely won’t because this theater is so much bigger. Everyone will probably end up closer to the stage than they originally thought because even people with balcony seats will probably be moved forward to fill in the extra rows. I’m just as impatient as you and I hate waiting, but at least I can calm down now that I know I definitely get to go and that they are working on the matter. I was getting super paranoid that I might miss the email or call or something.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Yeah I was too. I am a little calmer now. The lady was very sweet about it also which is nice. I hope if my seat is in any of the rings that its like AA cause they are closer to the stage but honestly, I really don’t care. I just want to know. The orchestra at KOCH has 852 seats ( I got bored and counted, yeah dont ask, I have a lot of free time with no school right now) as opposed to like 550 I believe at JALC. Everyone will be closer, or should be at least, but I dont know about box seats or double seats, I think thats whats causing all the problems.

          • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I would imagine that is the problem. They probably have to look through all of the orders and determine how many seats were double booked/who has them and where they will now sit before they call everyone.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Yeah which is probably why they won’t start until next week. I hope once people start getting called, we can figure that out. I think they may try to sit all the first level box seats, and everyone from orch in the orch at Koch if they can. but who even knows. they could also just do it completely random too.

          • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I hope its not completely random. I would hate to wind up with worse seats simply because I can’t take the phone call.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Well we also don’t know if there calling in order of seating… they may do the seating first and just call us to tell us that and to make sure we can still go… They can do it so many ways honestly. I hope they start calling on monday and people post about it. I liked this better the first 2 days when things were happning.

    • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

ugh now im going to have to be on stand-by while im on vacation :( i wanted all of this sorted out before then haha

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

yeah you and me both. I am the worlds most impatient person.

    • Mandy

Ugh, next week. :( This is taking so long.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

:( I know but thats what she said. She like its probably going to be next week, early next week – mid next week.

  • josh

Ok the pending charge is gone and no money is currently deducted. Anyone else have this showing up? My friend was charged but mine looks like nothing happened. I ordered my tix over phone and so have no email proof that i even ordered. Though i do have confirmation number.

    • Gillian

Yup, my card is back to the amount it was before I purchased the tickets. I’m taking this as a good sign but who knows at this point.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

They did say to me early next week! SO maybe on monday we will start getting phone calls! @josh I would call KOCH as there the ones calling people, and give them your information so they know to call you!

      • Mandy

Same happened to me a few days ago. The next day, a new charge appeared.

        • Mandy

Just checked again and found something weird. I was originally charged on the 10th and then credited on the 12th. Then both of those disappeared from my history, and I was charged again on the 12th. Now I’m looking, and the charge from the 12th is still there, but there is now ALSO an identical charge on the 13th.

I can’t seem to find their email address on their website anymore. Does anybody have it?

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

            I have them. subscriptions@jalc.org or customerservice@jalc.org
and your account is so odd! I haven’t had any changes to my order. It processed on the 12th but if it was ever refunded & recharged, I have no idea. Could of and I never saw it since I only check on the 12th.

          • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

            Mine was never recharged either.

  • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Has anyone spoke to either JALC or KOCH recently? I hate the lack of news now :( I miss that. I hope they start calling people tomorrow!!

    • Erik

      It’s the weekend.. Relax. lol

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

LOL. I am impatient. I was told early this week so maybe tomorrow they will start.

        • Erik

Remember the Holiday, there might be a skeletal staff there. So don’t get too down if they don’t! ;]

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I forgot about the holiday, I don’t have school this semester or I would of been off. Idk, maybe they won’t start until tomorrow then.

  • icestudent

If anyone gets a call tomorrow, be sure to let all of us know! I hope they get it all done by Wednesday, because that’s when I go back to school, and I can’t pick up the phone in classes.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Will deff post here if I get a call! they told me last week, early – mid week.

  • zechs

So its been a week and nobody has their tickets finalized? Errrrrr

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

A lady from KOCH told me last week that they would prob start calling people about early- mid this week. I think its possible tomorrow they will start.

    • nova

just came to post the same thing. It’s been a week, I’d like to know my seats so I can get on with life instead of obsessing about this. I e-mailed Koch Theater for an update early this morning but still haven’t heard back.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I emailed the lady who had emailed me saying to call her to answer my email personally but no answer yet.

      • zehs

It shouldnt be this difficult to assign new seating. And at least give more of an update. This vague idea of them calling at some random time maybe this week is irking me. Im grateful to go see Jo but this waiting around is terrible.

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I just got an email from a person who works at Koch and she said sometime this week they will start calling people. So they’re still unsure.

          • nova

When you e-mailed them originally did you do the davidhkoch e-mail or the tickets email cause its going on 7 hours and I still haven’t gotten a response

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I emailed both of those originally and the davidkoch i had got a reply that was sent to a lot of ppl and was posted below somewhere. the tickets one I did not get a reply from. but i had gotten a random email from a different koch address and asked me to call her when I can, because she wanted to answer my email on the phone. I was told on the phone that they would start going out THIS week, early-mid this week. Today, I emailed the lady again and asked and she said SOMETIME this week. Which sounds like there still unsure whats going on. I just emailed the koch emails and the JALC emails this: “This is probably the 10000th email you’ve gotten about the JK ROWLING event but I really think the lack of info is ridic. It’s been a week of non-stop stress. I just want to know what day your starting to call us about the new seats, etc, because I can’t just sit around all day,all week, waiting for a phone call that may never come. ”
I think there purposley not answering anyone. I don’t like speaking on the phone or I would call them. My mom sure as hell won’t call again, shes had enough of my constant talks about this.

    • Shan

This is driving me crazy! I just want to have my ticket in hand or at least a confirmation. Is it too much to ask for? :P It’s at least reassuring that we are all going through the same thing.

  • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

They are ridiculous! I don’t think they know exactly when there calling still as this was the email I got back from them. It’s a part of the same email they sent last week.
The two organizations are working out the logistics of the transfer of this event to the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center before ticket purchasers are contacted. The event remains “Sold Out” and only customers who purchased tickets on September 9 or 10 will be accommodated.

  • zechs

The event is now less than a month away and people are still wondering when they get their tickets. Let alone, where they will even sit! I wish hypable or leaky or mugglenet would get back into the story and maybe find out a real update. I guess lincoln center only gives us regular folk scripted and vague answers

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

This is what I was thinking. LIKE ugh. Nothing has been said since the 12th from any of these sites. They should call them and find out REAL answers, cause I am tired of being ignored and given a scripted email. Someone told me THIS week they will start, people can’t just sit around waiting for a phone call that may or may not come this week. HOW hard is it to do this? They’ve had a complete week so far.

    • zechs

at the same time though, I feel guilty pestering them as I’m sure they are working hard. It’s just frustrating

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

We don’t know that they are actually working hard… we know NOTHING. They denied this for the first day that anything even happened. They posted 2 updates which was only that they were trying to accommodate everyone and that the moved to the Koch Theater. They should of posted a statement about how long it will take them to make the transfer to Koch. Then people would stop pestering them. I am too impatient for this. If I had info, I’d be fine but they don’t tell us anything.

        • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I agree. They seem annoyed when we call but don’t give us any information to prevent us from doing so.
I haven’t been on here in a few days but came back to see if anyone else had gotten their call/email because I still havent. With less than a month to go, this is getting a little ridiculous. I’ve stopped stressing about this for the most part, because I know I am guaranteed a seat, but its just really annoying not knowing where I’m sitting and not having tickets yet.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

It’s stressing me out because they could call on my house or cell phone and I don’t wanna leave the house and then they call or something. I check here everyday to see. If it wasn’t for that though, I wouldn’t mind so much. I do want to know where my new seat will be, but I really got over that. I don’t care where, but I do love knowing that information so I hope they call soon. I’m grateful we know that were deff going but its still stressful anyway. I mainly want the ticket in my hand.

          • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

lol at least I know someone is always home at my house. I really just want my ticket in my hand too, just to know its all final and nothing else can go wrong.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Yeah I don’t have that luxury. My moms almost never home, and I’m the only other person. I changed account to cell, but like I said in another post, I told the person on phone my house phone so it can still be either phone. Once that ticket is in my hand, maybe I can truly celebrate the fact that were really seeing/meeting JKR!

    • nova

Got an email back yesterday and it was just a cut and paste email in regards to the timing – just said that they will contact people when everything is sorted out between the two venues (didn’t even mention anything more specific than that – nothing about this week or next week etc). They did say that they will contact us with the phone numbers we gave to JALC which is good because at least now I know the call should be on my cell phone and not my house phone. Other than that I’m just going to let it all go and sporadically check back here to see if people have gotten called.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

It’s still incredibly frustrating. Especially for me. I had my house phone originally on my jalc account and then changed it this weekend to my cell and the lady that I spoke to took down my house phone so I can’t really be sure it’s my cell phone. I don’t wanna leave my house in fear that they will call.

  • Seej

Right?! No offense to TLC, but I mean come on… some people have to work all week and can’t sit around waiting for a phone call. What if we can’t answer when they call? Will they leave a message? They better… this whole ticket thing has caused some wicked unneeded stress for the past week and a half. I just wish they’d get their stuff together and start helping us fans out! After all, we DID pay for our tickets and they got our money. wahhhhhhhhh

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I agree. The number on my account is my home number and I just keep worrying that if I’m not home, nobody in my house will answer it because they won’t recognize the number. Now that I think about it, I had a missed call from the 212 area code when I came back from walking my dog yesterday, but they didn’t leave a message. Based on the fact that there was no message and that nobody else got a call yet, I am assuming it wasn’t Lincoln Center but its really bothering me.
I think my main fear is that if you are unable to answer the call as soon as they make it that you will end up with worse seats. That would be totally unfair, but based on the way this whole thing was handled, it wouldn’t surprise me.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

That’s exactly whats worrying me! We have NO idea how there going about anything ticket related. They could have the seats done before they call and they just let us know. It could be totally random and the order they call us could be where our seats are so like you said, then you end up in a worse seat. It could be a number of different ways so I don’t wanna miss the call. I HAD my house phone as the number on my account but changed it this weekend, but when I spoke to the lady on friday about this, she took down my info and I gave her my house by mistake, I did email her saying I’d rather they call on my cell but never got a reply so idk. We don’t answer unknown numbers either, so I make sure I always check the phone to see who it is.

        • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I don’t want to change mine to my cell because when I am in class I can’t answer and I don’t always have it on. At least at my house someone can pick up if they hear the message.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Yeah, true! It’s only me and my mom. She’s at work most of the time (part time job) and doesn’t answer numbers she doesn’t know, nor do I, but I know what area code to look out for. My friend said she was letting her professors know shes expecting a important call and sorry if it goes off in class, and is keeping on a low ringer. IF I had classes this semester, I would probably do the same. But, obviously there is ALWAYS that horrid professor who would never allow that.

Oh my professors don’t mind if I leave the room, but I always keep my phone in my purse rather than my pocket so I’m afraid that I would still miss it. I trust my parents to handle it if they call here!

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I wish I could trust my mom if I was out while she was here but I can’t.

  • Danny

You guys! CHILL! They’re giving it they’re all to accommodate us and give us time to ensure we are TRULY ready to receive the tickets. In the meantime you all ought to be preparing for what you will do for Jo. So impatient!

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

It’s not really the TIME its taking them to call everyone, its the LACK of info on their part. They ignore calls, they’ve hung up on people, they email scripted emails instead of actually answering. I’ts now been a week with NO info at all. The least they could do is make a statement about where there at so people can calm down about a phone call when they are at work, etc. I am impatient, but if I HAD info, it wouldn’t really bother me. There is less then a month now to the event and they haven’t even STARTED calling people yet.

      • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I agree its the lack of info. They could have at least sent out an email/posted on their website the day they planned to start calling. People are freaking out over the fact that they might miss the call because they have no idea when to expect it.

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Exactly. I mean, I don’t work (damn people for not hiring me, le sigh), school financial aid didn’t come in time so I’m off this semester, but I still have friends and if they want to go somewhere, I am afraid to leave the house in case they call. My mom is working almost everyday and wouldn’t pick up the phone anyway. For most tho, they don’t have the luxury of being home all the time, do I can’t imagine the stress of being at work and they may call.

          • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I’ve instruced everyone in my family on what to do if the phone rings and it says Lincoln Center or is a 212 number. I think right now they are just collecting personal information again to reprocess the order, so its not important that I do it myself.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

When I spoke to the lady on friday from the venue, she took down my information. phone #, when I bought tickets, where I bought them and old seat information. I think its possible the phone girl the girl above got was about same thing, not seats at all. I think the 48 hrs is about when they will start calling people.

  • Mack

Well? Does anyone want to pitch in to get Jo an elaborate gift or not? :)

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I like that idea, but what would we get? Also, how would we arrange payment for it. No offense, but I’m not just going to hand over my money to someone. I doubt any true Jo/Potter fan would take money from other fans, but this is the internet and we have no way of knowing who is who here.

      • Scandaroona

Also, she’s got what she wants in terms of material things; she’s JK Rowling. We’re not exactly her houseguests — we’re going to hear her speak. Buying her something smacks of hoping for extra attention from her, whereas I think she would most want people to come so that they could hear about the book. (I don’t mean anything mean by that, by the way — it’s just that it could be construed in a way that isn’t so good, and at the end of the day we must remember she’s a human being who probably has lots of elaborate gifts from fans already.)

        • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

Thants a good point. I was thinking that she would see the gift as appreciation for her on behalf of her fans, but it totattly could be seen the way you just described it as well. I think just getting the opportunity to thank her will be enough for her to know just how much she influenced out lives.

  • jish

Today better be the day or else there will be a dark mark in the sky!

    • Megan

I just got a call from them! The woman apologized for the time it’s taking but they’re going through 2,000 people one by one and forwarding their information to the people at the new venue.

      • josh

so did you get your tickets?

        • Megan

No, not yet – once everyone’s info is sent to the Koch theater, they will then start to contact people to send them the new tickets. The lady who called me said this SHOULD be within the next 48 hours.

          • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

But do you at least know your new seats? Or did they just call you to get your info (credit card, address, etc) to process the new order? Also, when did you buy your original ticket, Sunday or Monday? Just curious if they are doing this in any kind of order.

          • Megan

I bought my tickets Sunday the 9th. I also called them on the 11th during the heart of the mess to see if I could confirm my tickets then (this was before they even changed the venue) and they said they would cal me back asap, and I never heard from them until this morning. So it is possible I was called today because I had called them last week and they were getting back to everyone that had called first.

So I do not know my new seats; they just wanted my name, phone number, email address and order number. I am just glad to know something is going on over there to get order together and finally get everyone their tickets.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I feel like by your information, they only just started working on the event today. I wonder if they know how there going about new tickets. I mean, even if the seats were similar for the most part, the new venue starts at A, where the JALC started at AA, so pretty much everyone is gonna be in a different row anyway. At least we have SOME information now. I would say by friday we should start getting calls then. UGH.

          • Mack

I only just received my email an hour ago. Keep checking

          • nova

at least now we have some kind of time frame

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

i bet we wont start getting calls until next week. do they do this stuff on weekends? i doubt it.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

The phone call had nothing to do with the new seats then?

    • Mack

      tough $hit

  • John Murphy

    I just received this e-mail.

    “Dear Patron:

Please note that ONLY tickets issued from the David H. Koch Theater will be honored at the door.

    Thank you for your patience.

    Best,

    DHKT Customer Service”

Hope is on the horizon! :)

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

FINALLY! I haven’t recieved the email yet, but PROGRESS! thank heavens! and thank god they are looking for a phone number to best contact you with as they could of called on either one for me!

    • Mack

Make sure you call at the number they issued to give them your number rather than waiting for them to call you. I did and they picked up immediately and took my information.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Its deff better service then it was when this first happened. They actually have a link just for this event which I guess takes away the traffic of every ones calls. The first time I called it, went to voicemail & I left message but just called back 10 min or so ago and someone picked up & took down my info since I was not refunded yet. Finally things are happening.

  • KitKat

I just received an e-Mail from Koch asking for my phone number so that they can contact to repurchase the ticket. Sounds like progress is being made! :D

  • Snapesgirl

I got an email saying asking for a number where I can be reached to reprocess the tickets. I’m a bit relieved as I booked a hotel room in NYC for three days and was starting to worry! What a horribly disorganized venue.

  • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

What day did you guys purchase tickets and by what method? Curious how there sending out these emails.

    • John Murphy

I ordered mine the Sunday night.

    • KitKat

      Sunday night by debit card.

  • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

Just got my email and called! They still have to contact me with my new tickets but at least there is progress.
For people wondering about how they are doing this, I purchased my tickets Sunday the 9th online obviously and I selevted mailing to recieve them.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Was your order refunded? Mine still wasn’t. I don’t know if I should call now before its over-load or wait till I get the email.

  • Sam

I haven’t gotten an email yet, should I be worried? Also, what’s the phone number for Koch?

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Don’t be worried! I think they have to do it one at a time, I was worried cause I didn’t get it for a good 20 min after people started posting about it. IF you haven’t been refunded though, you can call
      (212) 258-9825 and tell them and they will make note of it. The phone line is just for this event.
      (212) 496-0600 is the number to Koch. :D

  • Mack

SO! What gift should we all collectively buy for JK Rowling for this event? Something sentimental that will make us a memorable crowd I say!

  • Nova

Well that was painless at least still a little more waiting but at least we know comparable seating

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

In general, they all will be different only cause Koch starts with A where JALC started with AA. its mainly the double & box seats that are gonna be weird.

      • nova

Yea, but when I called the guy said that what’s taking so long to assign new seats now is that they are still trying to map out the Koch Theater so that everyone’s tickets are in the same general area as before.

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Yeah I know that. I kinda figured it would be hard. Mainly double booked seats but I don’t care where I sit, this theater is gorgeous and were meeting her, thats all I care about.

  • Kor

And now we all wait for the magical phone call….

    • josh

      And still we wait….

  • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I was called back today and was told refunds were started today and should see a refund within a few days. I also saw on a FB page that they are giving KOCH are original tickets to re issue… which is still confusing since its so different. I wish someone would ask if we deff ALL get our books signed cause thats all I care about. Whenever they do call about new tickets, I will ask.

    • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

      I’m still waiting for a refund! ugh…

p.s. i’m back from wizarding world! lol

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

        Yeah so am I. UGH.

  • Mack

How about we all CHILL out with the frantic disarray, there is nothing here that warrants a meltdown. They have made new arrangements to accommodate Everyone so reissuing tickets will obviously take time. Try accessing the Hufflepuff within and strive for a little patience.

  • josh

Ok its been like 2 business weeks. Wtf?!! Even a hufflepuff knows when patience has been exhausted

    • Gillian

And we have been contacted by them. It should be all worked out by next week. Everyone really needs to calm down. If we didn’t get contacted at all, then I think this reaction would be warranted.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

i am impatient too but i think next week they will start. they emailed us only 2 days ago. relax :)

  • Sam

I got a call today where they checked the info they had on file for me, and where my seats at the rose theater were. They said they will call with our new seats sometime next week.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

      omg really? THEY BETTER.

      • icestudent

Yeah, they said that it’s taking them a little longer then they planned because they really want to make sure all the seats are done right, and that everyone who should be going goes. The guy I spoke to was very nice about it, it sounds like Koch is doing a much better job then Rose.

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

sounds like they do have it together more then jalc ever did. its a lot of work to make the double seats and box seats similar so i understand its taking a while. but they should of made a statement saying something.

  • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I just came across this picture
http://instagram.com/p/PzaTbtue0m/ on twitter while searching the JK ROWLING tickets search. I haven’t got a reply yet as to HOW they got the ticket but if I do get info I will post it.

  • Kor

    Has anyone been called?

    • shanshan

No! I am getting so anxious. I called the Koch center yesterday and they told me they had not called anyone yet but that I should recieve a call by the end of the week. I know some people have tickets already, I am just wondering how? I am going down to the Koch center today and see what they say. It can’t hurt to ask. I really want to be able to hold the tickets in my hand, as I am sure most of us our!

    • josh

No but i called them and a guy said maybe wednesday. Which is probably same thing they said last week before sending out that email. Ugh lol

    • Mack

      I have

  • Chris

Okay… could someone from Mugglenet, Leakynews, or any site help keep us updated? I I feel like no one has heard anything, and I’m sure almost everyone who managed to get a ticket (myself included) is freaking out because of the lack of info. Im sure I’m not alone in thinking there should be a temporary portion or blog or something on one of these sites where things get posted about this event, like if anyone has been called, what they’ve said… I realize this is pretty much just like the comment thing here, but it’d be nice to have a separate section or something… Just a few thoughts… #overlyfreakedoutfan

  • Mack

I received the phonecall from them today.

    • zechs

So you got your tix ? Cool

      • Mack

No actually, they called me to tell me they do not have my name/transaction on their system due to apparently another glitch. Trying to sort it all out. From what they said they will start contacting people for repurchases by next week or possibly in a few days

        • Kor

They need to figure it out soon…. It’s less than a month away now!

          • Mack

It’s weird. They sent an email regarding questions to post to be asked to JKR yet I’m like ‘okaaay, and the tickets?’

          • shan

Yep, I got the same e-mail and asked the same question. Where oh, where have the tickets gone? :(

  • Livy

I want to urge anyone who purchased tickets in person at the JALC box office (I know there aren’t many of us) to call the Koch Theater and give them your contact information if you haven’t done so already. Even if you paid with a credit card–as I did–you should do this. I left my information with them last week–more because it made me feel better than because I was certain they didn’t have it!– but today a very kind rep called me back to tell me that they currently do not have me in their system! Very scary, though she was very consoling and assured me they are working to locate me. The big problem seems to be that those of us who bought tickets in person do not have customer ID numbers, which seems to be the main way JALC and Koch are keeping track of us. If I had not called Koch last week, I am not sure they would have been able to get in touch with me at all. So I strong advise everyone who purchased tickets in person to get in touch with Koch and make sure they have you on file!

  • shan

I talked to the Koch center, they said that they hope to have contacted everyone by the end of the week and that they will start calling tomorrow. Let’s hope this is true :D

  • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

I work 4 blocks away from Lincoln Center….I’m debating to go there and demand 1) my refund and 2) my tickets or info on what is going on.

    • Finnick

Did you miss the NO REFUNDS disclaimer when you bought your tickets??

  • zechs

Still nobody has been contacted for ticket finalization? All I know, is that I need to have tickets in advance of going. My schedule will be tight on the 16th and I’m not going to be waiting in a will-call line and possibly miss part of the event.

    • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

I’m going to go by there in person to the box office today for both Koch and Jazz. I’ll report back before 4PM EST.

      • zechs

        that’ll be good, thanx

  • John Murphy

I just got the call! They gave me my reassigned seating :) I ordered on Sunday night so maybe that has to do with why I’m one of the first.

    • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

Haha, just talked to you on fbook! but yay! I’m heading down the box office now.

    • KitKat

Hooray! I ordered mine on Sunday, too, so my fingers are crossed that I’ll get the call today! Yay for progress!!!!

  • icestudent

I just got the call! Just did a quick check, and I actually have way better seats at this then I did at Rose, although the seats didn’t move much.

    • John Murphy

I got better seats too :)

    • nova

How can the seats be way better if they didn’t move much?

      • icestudent

Because they got me up to the second row of ring one, on the isle, dead center. My other seats were on the side, in the middle of row like F at Rose (in Mez)

  • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

I just got back from the JAZZ box office. Apparently, EVERYONE should have gotten refunded. They may have put money in and took it out instead of taking it out, putting it back in, and taking it out again. Double check with your banks.

    • Kor

Did you get your new tickets?

      • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

No :( they gave me the phone # of the ppl dealing with the repurchasing and they said they would call me ASAP and I didn’t get anything yet! Even tho the guy at the Koch box office had a folder labeled “JK Rowling Tickets” next to him.

        • Kor

Ha! Love that he had the folder nearby. Ah, well. At least they ARE calling, I suppose. I will continue to practice my patience….

        • http://twitter.com/Corellianjedi2 elisa g schneider

You get your tickets from Koch not JALC. That’s where I got mine. JALC can only give you info, Koch issues the tickets.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

If they did that to me, it didn’t show it. Did your refund say KOCH or JALC? Mine still just has a payment saying Jalc.

      • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

        JALC

      • Sara

I also just have a payment from JALC … No refund.

  • http://www.facebook.com/theginanicole Gina Nicole

I got my phone call – phew!

  • Chris w.

Got the call when I was at work! The woman was extremely nice and left a message. I called as soon as I got out, and she answered promptly and I have a great seat similar to my original in the Rose Theater. Ticket is in the mail as I speak on its way to me! Woohoo!

    • Chris w.

Also- I was one of the phone purchasers on Monday, Sept. 10th, for those who would like to know! :)

  • Kim

I received my call today!!! I officially have my seat for the event!!!! Thank god I was starting to really freak out!

  • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

I bought tickets Sunday night and I still haven’t received a call yet. Anyone else in the same boat as me? I can’t stop worrying about this until I know for sure that I’m getting tickets for Koch :/

    • KitKat

Same boat here. I think we’ll be called by the end of Friday, though!

    • Erika Quinteros

Same story here. But there’s been a few people that bought sunday night that have been called already so I’m pretty sure they’re calling at random. At this point I’m not too worried.

  • http://twitter.com/mattwiz13 Matthew Carenza

Just got the call! I was one of the Sunday night purchasers and wound up with Ring 1 tickets which the lady told me were comparable. Apparently JALC was really screwed up because the lady told me they had only said I had 1 ticket as opposed to two, but it was easily straightened out. She also mentioned that there will be a VERY quick turn-around time with the tickets. So glad this is all finally over!

    • Kor

Where were your seats originally? (Just curious!)

      • http://twitter.com/mattwiz13 Matthew Carenza

They were Row AA 116 and 117. I’m not sure which AA it referred to (balcony or mezzanine) but I’m assuming it was balcony since I’m in Ring 1. And my new seats are almost dead center in the row so I should have a pretty good view!

        • Kor

Awesome! It’s so comforting to hear that we’re all getting similar seats to what we originally purchased.

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

JALC went mezz then balcony.. haha. i hope mine isnt too bad cause i had last row, but i just want to know! i hope they call me tomorrow like i asked cause if they call before, im screwed.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1084724938 Lindsey Garcia

I got my call!! Now it’s really real

  • Kohlby

I want to get better seats than the JALC ones, which were terrible :-(

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I’m with you on that! I think they are better then JALC just by the fact KOCH is way different. I would be okay with row AA in any ring level. but i have a good chance at possibly being like row E on ring 1 cause row e was only orch and bal at jalc. I dont really mind though. Were still meeting her. Where were your original seats?

  • nova

still didn’t get a call. hoping calling is random and not by seat location!

  • http://twitter.com/PteradactylCat Cat Koski

Question to those getting calls! Did you email or call in your information? I emailed because I have class during there buisness hours, and work on the weekends so wasn’t able to call.

  • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

Hey Potter fans! You all have been so supportive over this last month and I am so glad that this situation has finally been worked out!
I am an intern for newsday, and since I have tickets, my editor wants me to cover the event! I’m reaching out because we are a local paper and are looking for people traveling from Westchester County or the Hudson Valley area to interview and photograph. If you are interested in being part of this potential story, you can DM me and I will give you my email so we can find a way to meet at the event.
If you don’t have a twitter, just reply to this and we will find a way.

  • Erika Quinteros

Still no call. *pout* they’re definitely calling at random, from what I heard, but I would just like to get my call and know which seats I’m getting. And just -sigh- I did hear that tickets were mailed out today, though.

    • R

I just called them and the lady found my order and got new tickets for me. I was tired of waiting!

      • Kor

No way! I’m going to call after I get off work now. Thanks for the info!

      • Erika Quinteros

        totally doing that. then.

      • shan

I tried that and they told me to be patient :P I will try again tomorrow though! What number did you use?

        • R

          212-496-0600

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

Yes, I got my call yesterday and was told that the tickets would be mailed out later that same day. Are we sure that they are calling at random because, so far, the only people I know who have gotten calls were people who bought tickets on Sunday night.

      • Erika Quinteros

I bought sunday night and was not called. I actually called in earlier and they told me that I was on the list to be called today and they finally gave me my ticket info. They told me they wouldn’t be mailed until monday — at least the ones they did today. I think it’s been a mixture of people that bought monday and sunday, not just sunday from what I’ve heard.

        • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

huh, interesting. Maybe its alphabetical? My last name is B and I was called failry early yesterday, your last name is Q and were on the list for today, so thats possible. My friend is H and she was called a few hours after me…

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

It’s totally random! Deff has to be. The FB event that someone created, people were called at different times. Deff wasn’t based on day you ordered, how you ordered or by last name. Seats are deff not assigned either. There similar, yes, but there not the same. Like I got one row better then I had at JALC but not everyone is getting better seats. Some are and some are getting worse. No order to this at all. I feel like they put everyones names in a hat and picked out everyone and have a list per day.

          • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

That may have been the case, but at least we all get to go and that is what really matters!
If you don’t mind me asking, where are you coming from for this event? I know you mentioned a train and I am looking for people from the Westchester/Hudson Valley area to interview for a news story.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

            Long Island.

          • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

Oh, I need Wescthester/Hudson Valley. If you know anyone from there, pass it along?

  • nova

do they assign your seat when you’re called or is it already assigned?

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I think they assign it when you are called because the lady I spoke to had to wait a second for my new seats to come up on the computer and even had to hang up and call me back because of a glitch.

  • KitKat

I went from row H to row O… Anyone feel like they got way worse seats during the reassign? :

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

That may not be worse. You could have gone from row O in a balcony to Row H in the orchestra, or in a closer level.

      • KitKat

I went from row H in orchestra to row O in orchestra. Seems like everyone else was assigned in fairly nearby rows to what they originally had, so I was surpised I got moved back so far. (It honestly doesn’t matter in the end as long as I get the meet Jo; I was just curious to see if anyone else had the same thing happen.)

        • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

Oh, thats strange. I went from row D in the Balcony to row A (I’m assuming still in the balcony. I don’t understand why they have the same numbering system for each level without making any distinction between them).
Did you happen to miss the call from them and have to call back? That could have something to do with it?

          • Erika Quinteros

Mine are worse too actually. I went from balcony row B to second ring row E, which she claimed to be comparable. But is definitely worse. Which ring are you in out of curiosity? Because they don’t have balcony — they have orchestra, and then the rings. We’re assuming they won’t have filled up more than up to the third ring. And then other people have actually gotten really good, better seats than what they had originally.

3 rows worse isn’t too bad :) ring 2 is same as balcony. I had legit last row at JALC and got 1 row better in ring 2 for this. but i think they may of went to ring 3 for this. we wont know till the event.

          • Ker

            I’m in Ring 4.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Yeah I heard people were in Ring 4. I think they sold way more then 1700 tickets.

          • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

I got my tickets in the mail yesterday and I am in the 2nd ring. I was in the balcony at JALC so my seats are basically the same. Only plus is now I am in the first row of the balcony insted of the 4th, so there will be nobody in front of me!

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I was told what section I was in so I know where I am.. that odd that you weren’t told that on phone.

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Thats only 4 rows worse.. that not that much worse.

    • Erik

I was in the 5th row, center in JALC…. Now I’m in the 4th ring, row A. I’ll be bringing oxygen and a space suit with my binoculars to the event. This is going to be greeeeeat. -.-

  • Aldren

Im so confused, they told me I had an AA seat, but did not indicate which row I am in…

  • Adrian

Sorry guys, but if you haven’t received the call by today, chances are you won’t receive it at anytime forthcoming. From what I was told on the phone, all arrangements have been finalized, and those who were not given a reissue of tickets were either unable to be contacted or have redacted their seats.

    • Sarah

How is that possible?! I have the charge on my credit card and have received an email asking me to submit a question to JKR. You’ve just given me some major anxiety.

      • KitKat

Call 212-496-0600. They should sort you out.

        • Hannah

I was able to get my ticket just now. What Adrian said is incorrect.

      • Adrian

Sorry dude, I was just yankin your crank, didnt mean to upset you. Wanna meet up before the event for a little Casual connection? i’ve got an open vacancy ;)

  • Nymeria

I got my call! This is really happening!
And I’ve never been so excited to see 86 dollars missing from my account…

  • Livy

Does anyone know how (or if) we can submit questions to be asked at the event? I never received the email about that process.

    • Albie

Im pretty sure that ship has sailed. I got that email two weeks ago

      • Livy

Hmmm. I think it may be a little early for the ship to sail. The event, after all, is still two weeks away and the book we’re discussing only came out a few days ago. Any chance you have the contact info from that email? I may try my luck…

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

You can submit them through tomorrow night the email to submit them is jkrquestions@hbgusa.com

      • Livy

        Thank you!

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I never got the question email either, but the event page I am “attending”, someone posted the email they got so its no biggie. but odd that not everyone got one. Sadly, I still havent got the book from my library to really ask good questions. I may go read it at barnes and noble this weekend but thats too late to summit questions so trying to think of good ones.

      • Livy

I probably never got the email because I bought my tickets in person and didn’t leave an email address — but I think we can both agree that things have been so disorganized that it’s no surprise that people were left off the email list. I’m sure you can ask non-Casual Vacancy questions if you haven’t had a chance to read the book! I bet they want questions about her writing process and general outlook on life too.

        • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I thought of questions about the book that wouldn’t require actually reading the book cause I will deff be spending time at barnes and noble probably sometime before the event reading the book so I can actually know whats going on. So bummed I haven’t read it yet. DAMN library and damn JKR for being SO popular. haha.

  • mack

will they mail out the reissued tickets or do those have to be picked up?

    • Kor

whichever you selected as your original preference when you purchased from JALC.

  • Finnick

    too many dumb folks here

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

you’re so nice, aren’t you? how are we dumb?

  • Mack

Why havent my tickets been mailed to my home yet?/

    • http://twitter.com/MusicandHouse J

Are you sure you selected the mail option when you purchased them? You could either have them mailed or waiting at the box office.

  • PPinsta

Cant wait to meet JK :-)))))

  • Mack

    That. Was. AMAZING.

  • Mack

Meeting Jo has left me in a blissful high. Making direct eye contact with Jo, having my existence acknowledged by Jo, Being told “Thank you” by Jo (after having yelped ‘You look beautiful, Jo!!’) THANK YOU JO, you have marked my finest hour, I have never been more content.

  • Jess

This event was amazing, if you missed it…SUCKS FOR YOU LOSER!!! Should’ve been more attentive, you had plenty of opportunities, and if you had a pathetic excuse like your stiff work schedule…all work no play, you get it. Your dweebness made you miss out. Bye suckers ;)))))
