Kelly Clarkson took a moment to remember her 10-year American Idol anniversary by serenading fans with her winning song, “A Moment Like This.”
The first Idol winner rarely performs her coronation song, but chose to perform it after receiving “a lot of requests [for the song] because 10 years ago, I won Idol,” Clarkson told the crowd at her Independence, Mo., concert Tuesday.
“It was a really cool moment for me. It was my way into the industry, so I am super thankful for American Idol,” she said. “It’s crazy that it’s still on. It’s crazy that you’re all here watching me.”
Watch her performance from Tuesday night, as well as her performance during the season finale of Fox’s singing competition in 2002, when Clarkson beat Justin Guarini for the title of American Idol (back when Idol had two hosts).
Kelly Clarkson is touring North America with the Fray until Sept. 15, before heading to Australia Sept. 25 and to the U.K. in October.
