As its season premiere draws ever closer, Sherlock Holmes adaptation Elementary has released the official synopsis for episode 1 – which stars Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu.

The pilot episode hits screens on Sept. 27, and sees Jonny Lee Miller’s Sherlock relocate to New York after his drug addiction led Holmes Senior to send him to rehab. Having recovered from his addictions (thought not his arrogance and temperament) Sherlock finds himself with disgraced surgeon Dr. Joan Watson, who quickly becomes entangled in the great detective’s mood swings, cases, and extraordinary observational skills.

Read the full synopsis below, which first appeared on K Site TV.

It sounds interesting enough. But I won’t be able to judge it until i actually see it.

I don’t like that all they’ve done is taken ACD’s characters and played with them.  That doesn’t make it any different from the other crime dramas on TV today.  What they should have done is taken ACD’s STORIES as well, and adapted them to modern times – that’s what made the BBC version so successful.

probably won’t be as good as Sherlock but I still will be tuning in to watch

Is there going to be a Joan Watson/Ty Morstan romance maybe?

That’s what I thought when I saw the name as well. Seems likely, but this is America we’re talking about here. We kind of like to do our own thing (obviously).
