J.K. Rowling is heading stateside for her only U.S. stop to promote her first adult novel The Casual Vacancy.

As the Associated Press reports, Rowling will discuss her newest novel with author Ann Patchett and about 1,100 lucky fans at New York City’s Jazz at Lincoln Center Oct. 16 at 8 p.m. She’s also set to sign copies of her novel, out Sept. 27, for each audience member.

The Harry Potter author will be interviewed by Patchett, author of Bel Canto and The Magician’s Assistant, and take audience questions during the event that will be live streamed in bookstores across the country, according to Little, Brown.

Tickets go on sale Sept. 10 with prices starting at $37 for tickets bought at the Jazz at Lincoln Center box office, $43 for those bought online and $44 for phone purchases.

    I WANT IN.

I hope there is a contest to win tickets for adults since this is an “adult” novel

  • http://www.style-abuse.blogspot.com/ Marcia

I hope the tickets won’t be sold out. I need to see the queen.

  • thegarbar13

Kinda annoyed that she stay confined to NYC… not even LA or some Central state. Just saying… I know she is busy and everything!

  • Elmobon

Omfg my husband works there!!!!!!! I am soooooo going!

  • Kitster_kosh

I just hope we don’t have to catch the magic quill to get tickets.

    • Glaciusx

      LOL. Ahh, good times. <3

Why won’t she sign in Edinburgh?! Gahh, frustrating!

    • EuanLauder

I know she lives there. I need a Scottish signing cause I’m not going to NY or London. Edinburgh or Glasgow and I’m cool. I need to see her

      • http://twitter.com/JAKE_VINEYARD Jake Vineyard.

        She obviously will!

I hope it won’t come across as too disrespectful if I ask her to sign my copy of “Deathly Hallows” instead. That’s the book that I really want to get signed. I’ll buy a copy of “The Casual Vacancy” as well and bring it with me to show my support but I don’t want to get that book signed.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XKZIG7MXV2IMZZ3JDKGSNMJ2RE Chris

Hmm, I’m sure Jo wouldn’t mind but I wonder if people running the event may have a problem with it for promotional purposes, etc.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/5ZDHCGJNDZISSXTVOAKY7MCMTA EdwardS

Doesn’t hurt to try I guess. I will bring both books just in case. I know for a fact that I’m not the only person who will try so I’m not optimistic about it. It’s just that if I were to get a book signed, I would much rather it be “Deathly Hallows.”

    • http://twitter.com/JAKE_VINEYARD Jake Vineyard.

You get a free copy of Casual Vacancy with your ticket!

    • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

That is VERY rude. First off, this INCLUDES a copy of the book that you will probably get at the signing and thats what she should sign. Obviously I would love if she could sign HP but this isnt about HP. If you want her to sign that, try before or after the signing, not during it. I wouldn’t sign them if I was her.

  • Morgen71

YES I live right near there

  • http://twitter.com/HannahGann Hannah Gann

How do you think tickets will be sold?  First come, first serve?  If so, they’ll be sold out within minutes I predict.

    • http://www.hypable.com/ Andrew Sims

they’ll be sold online sept 10 first come first serve. we’ll remind you closer to the on sale date!

Will you guys be doing a Mugglecast talking about this soon?? Better yet, are any of you guys going to try to attend this event??

        • Elmobon

My husband is the lighting guy in Rose Hall which is where I assume it is happening since the Allen Room is much smaller.  If anyone from Mugglecast (most likely Micah) goes let me know and I will see what I can do about backstage.

          • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

Its been said its at Rose Hall :D

      • http://twitter.com/JAKE_VINEYARD Jake Vineyard.

wrong, there not first come first serve.

      • http://twitter.com/JAKE_VINEYARD Jake Vineyard.

        there selling assigned seats.

      • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I hope there’s a link to buy tickets because I can’t find the event anywhere on the lincoln center website or on ticketmaster and I am getting nervous about tickets on monday!

  • Glaciusx

MY WISH CAME TRUE. I will so totally be there!

  • Jason

    Oh, sorry… other states.

  • RussellTurner

If not for college, I would be buying tickets to go see her! It’s going to be 5 years since i saw her at Carnegie Hall.. <<<<< Yes im bragging.

I know, right?! GAH NO ONE EVER COMES TO HAWAII :(

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XKZIG7MXV2IMZZ3JDKGSNMJ2RE Chris

“…and take audience questions during the event that will be live streamed in bookstores across the country…”

I hope there’s one near me that will do so. Really hating living in Hawaii right now, there is not a bookstore near where I live :/

  • LotusCalm

Because these things just don’t happen in Minnesota.

  • RJack

That might as well be the UK for me…

  • Raffc

    What about the UK?!?!

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/5ZDHCGJNDZISSXTVOAKY7MCMTA EdwardS

I read a comment on Mugglenet’s article that there won’t be an actual signing and that copies of the “The Casual Vacancy” will be complimentary and pre-signed by Jo. I really hope that this not the case…

    • http://twitter.com/JAKE_VINEYARD Jake Vineyard.

That’s not the case. I’ve called and checked. She actually signs it there, but there wont be much time for pictures or anything

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/5ZDHCGJNDZISSXTVOAKY7MCMTA EdwardS

Thanks for clearing that up. I don’t mind not getting a picture with her…I just want her to sign my copy of “Deathly Hallows” as well.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1534802836 Kaley Eidson

I wonder if they’re going to do some sort of web stream for everyone . If not they need a ” I’m a broke college student with the money for neither the airline ticket nor the event itself fund”. I have a feeling that makes up about half of all people who want to go.

    • http://twitter.com/JAKE_VINEYARD Jake Vineyard.

      they are.

  • SnitchSocks4Dobby

I don’t have a passport. I don’t have a car. I don’t know anyone who is willing to drive me. WHYYYY!?!?!?

  • TRoseAlena

I so want to go!!! This is close enough to me that I can go and I want to bring my Deathly Hallows because this will probably be the only time in my life that I am going to be able to meet her if I can get tickets!! I hope she will sign that copy of Deathly Hallows, even so I might be too shy to ask her myself :/

  • http://www.facebook.com/kimberly.lala Kimburrly LeStrange

    I’m not sure she’ll sign at all… 1100 books is a lot… and it doesn’t say she’ll be signing

  • Jared

any word on what time these go on sale?

  • http://twitter.com/B3lieveInDreams Kristin ♥ ϟ

I find it rude and disrepectful that people plan on bringing a HP book for her to sign. I’d be ashamed of yourselves. This is her first post-potter book and you have the decency to bring a HP book when this is not about Potter? Don’t even bother to come!
