Add Kanye West to the long train of potential celebs to fill a seat at the judges’ table next season on American Idol!

TMZ is reporting that Kanye West is in talks to be a judge on American Idol next season. According to the report, Idol has reached out to him and he was interested. Apparently Kanye is holding out because he isn’t sure American Idol is “in his wheelhouse,” according to the source.

TMZ is also reporting that there will be a 4th judge replacing Randy Jackson with frontrunners being Keith Urban, Brad Paisley and Enrique Iglesias.

Yesterday we reported on Nicki Minaj being added to the list, who seems to be a couple of dotted lines away from actually being a judge.

    Why him?!?! Hate this guy

  • Mia

    Please: anyone but him!

But then he’d interrupt performances if someone he liked was eliminated. Bad choice.

  • upper_westsider

I agree Kanye – Idol is definitely not in your wheelhouse!  BAD CHOICE!

If he joins, I’m officially out!  He’s the biggest waste of skin. He is an air thief.

I stand by my comment on the last AI story. Just end already!

I was about to make a comment then I scrolled and saw yours and I HIGHLY AGREE!! First I saw the Nicki Minaj article then snorted, then I was about to go on Tumblr as I finished scrolled halfway on Hypable seeing this article’s headline and I had to go “click” on the back arrow and check it out. A big SMH. They are just making bad decisions for choosing these 2 to be judges. To me it is just a sad and pathetic choice. If he agrees and so far no news of the fate of Randy, then there would be 3 black judges and one other judge who may or may not be black.. I may not like AI anymore but if I were them I would be in talks for Beyonce or someone of a much higher authority or GOOD (not bad) reputation in the music business.

He’s going to interrupt every single performance, talking about how great Beyonce’s music video was. Haven’t watched Idol since the last few years. Can’t wait for the X Factor though.

  • Brittanajeya13

No way in HELL am I watching idol with HIM on it.

  • Theaterboy1

If he became a judge i’d seriously consider not watching American Idol!

  • Jael

Who wants to boycott American Idol if this —– is made a judge?

NO THANK YOU. I didn’t watch last season, but I certainly don’t think he’d be a good fit for Idol. Also, I still love Randy. He’s been there from the beginning and I don’t think I’d want to watch the show without any original judges.

Ok, so I think all the new judge casting info has made it official…. AI had become such an insane joke!!!  I mean really, I do not understand their choices at all!  I can’t even decide which was worse, Kanye or Nicki…

  • upper_westsider

The picture is great!  Kanye should go for “True Blood” instead of Idol.

  • Luna97831

Can someone please explain to me why they seem hell-bent on keeping the show? From what I’ve heard, other shows, especially The Voice, are consistently better ratings-wise. All they’re doing is giving AI a really slow death. Plus, nobody can argue that they haven’t had enough seasons.

Nicki Minaj? Kanye? ENRIQUE IGLESIAS?? Are they joking?
