The Hunger Games hit store shelves this past Saturday, and all numbers indicate that the release was a big success for Lionsgate.

The film sold 3.8 million DVD and Blu-ray discs, surpassing Breaking Dawn – Part 1′s 3.2 million and Eclipse’s 2.7 million. It did not beat Twilight and New Moon which sold 3.8 million and 4 million respectively.

Of the copies sold thus far, 1.3 million were Blu-ray.

Lionsgate says their Hunger Games launch was their “most aggressive marketing campaign ever.” Over the past few weeks we reported heavily on the sneak peeks, release parties, and special editions.

Thanks to The LA Times.

Frankly, I’m more relieved about the lower blu-ray sales. I still haven’t upgraded from my DVD player and I was worried it’d pull a VHS and go extinct.

I can’t decide where to buy it from since every store has something extra..anyone has any idea which one I should go for?
    Target, Walmart, Bestbuy, or Barnes
    & Noble

    • Keep Calm and Ship Klaine

Not Barnes & Nobles, I love them to pieces but they are always really overpriced. Go with Target.
