‘The Mortal Instruments’ filming kicks off, on-set photos featuring lead stars surface

It didn’t take long for the first photos from the set of The Mortal Instruments to surface!

These photos reveal the first day of shooting – which was today – in Toronto, Canada.

In the pics we can see Jamie Campbell-Bower (Jace) and Lily Collins (Clary) decked out in leather and/or dark clothing.

The film will be released August 23, 2013. It is based on the book of the same name by Cassandra Clare.

  It’s more auburn, which is technically a shade of red, but I agree, I thought it’d be more ginger. Other than that, she and everyone look awesome!

    “Carroty hair” I really wouldn’t call it carroty :( Also Izzy is supposed to be “tall and ribbon slim” which isn’t the most important thing, but it was a little important in the book. The fact that Izzy didn’t really like Clary at first and Jace explained to Clary that it was because Izzy had always wanted to be petite like her. That being said, it may not matter in the movie like it did in the book. Still excited :)

I am so tired of people complaining about lily’s hair and/or the way alec looks (on other sites). I am just so freakin excited that movie is happening that I’m not even worried about the little things! :)

  Look. Clearly you arent a redhead because let me tell you, that every book they have made that has a redhead character ISNT a redhead. That is Auburn from a box at a drug store. That is my opinion, other than that everything looks amazing. Only one person on this site is complaining about the hair and that is ME. So your “people” comment is incorrect its “person”.

Lily looks exactly how Clary was in my mind. Im really loving the Shadowhunter Gear. I really hope we get more pics because this has got me very excited for a movie :)

So excited for this movie cause I’ve been a fan of the books for years, but I’m really not a big fan of Jamie as Jace. I still don’t see it, but hoping I will.

  The books are really cool! They are a great mix of magic and kinda scifi with modern world! So if you like that stuff go for it! But the warning I tell all of my friends is Keep On Reading After the First One. ;)

aaaah! something big’s finally happening in Narnia! i live an hour and a half away, i need to see this filming! i’m not a fan as jamie campbell bower as jace though. like, really… meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh. :/

They better not screw this up. But until I see the movie, I’m going to (try to) withhold any opinions. I have faith though. I just wish they’d get Cassandra Clare in on the movie like they did Suzanna Collins for the Hunger Games. I believe it would save the movie if they were trying to change anything drastic.

Jamie Campbell Bower is so horribly cast dude lol. I’d have some faith in this movie but he kills it completely. He ruined Camelot.

  I really have to agree. I was looking forward to Camelot until I saw Jamie in it and it was just blah. Stopped watching the series after the first few episodes. I was dismayed when I first read jamie got the role after the first actor they offered it to declined.

i like everyone except for the guy they casted for jace …. hopefully he proves us wrong but im a little skeptical i feel like they are going to make the movies less dark so younger kids can watch it
