Despite the very public cheating scandal between Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson last week (recap: Stewart openly admitted in a statement she cheated on longtime boyfriend Pattinson), Summit says it’s “full steam ahead” for Breaking Dawn – Part 2.

The studio behind the franchise said in a statement to EW that they do not intend on changing any of the promotional campaigns for the film:

“While it is studio policy not to comment on the personal lives of actors, Summit is moving full steam ahead and looking forward to this November’s opening of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. We are confident that the film delivers amazing entertainment for our passionate fans and general audience alike.”

Do you think the film’s promotional tactics should change at all come November? Will all of this have been forgotten by then? Do you think the two will still appear together at press/fan events?

  • Tanyamsagendorf

    YES

  • Liderc

I bet they’re never together on the circuit. Rob didn’t take that crap, kicked her out quick.

  • britto0o

its too awkward, they should make it so they don’t have to appear in press/event.

  • Jess

I don’t think their personal lives should influence their professional lives. So, no, I don’t think the promotional tactics should change. Life goes on… if I break up with a co-worker we both still have to turn up for our work-project. Can’t deal? Don’t get involved. They’re professionals, no reason why they wouldn’t/shouldn’t proceed as planned.

Took the words right out of my mouth, no need for me to comment further.

Well, that’s going to be awkward.

  • Gary65

Glad to see someone’s copped the fuck on and is ignoring it.

  • Guest

Time for Kristen to deliver the peformace of her life! It’s going to be awsome, not awkward at all.

  • http://www.facebook.com/iDomi Domi Ed

Good. I know it’s going to be painfully awkward for everyone. But you have to be professional and full steam ahead.
I just hope for Robs sake people will have some fucking tact and not ask him about this.
” Do you think Edward would take Bella back if she cheated on him?”

    Omg…..can you imagine…

    • Liderc

Oh it’s going to be insane. He’s going to be asked that question 500 times.

    • http://benchpressabear.tumblr.com Joan

Oh, that’s the problem. As “journalists”, they will most likely feel that it is their duty to ASK about it. Unless Summit puts its foot down beforehand.

Having them be together at events or shows will certainly get the press attention but, with no control, it can also turn into a circus and completely take away from the movie itself. People will not be talking about Breaking Dawn, but about Rob and Kristen and how they love/hate each other. I’m pretty sure Summit doesn’t want that either.

  • Arial_29

Why should they? They’re promoting a movie, not there relationship.

    • Lucie-Elle

      *Their

      • Vee

Actually, Arial’s use of “they’re” was correct.

        • Vee

I take that back, I thought you were talking about the first “they’re”, not the second one. My apologies.

I expected nothing less. Summit is a company and they’re not going to stop everything because of that. Their job is to promote their product, not a personal relationship. It does suck that that crap happened, but that’s between them, not Summit & everyone else. And I’m sure that by the time promotion time comes around and one or the other feels uncomfortable, they’ll get around it.

  • PotionWillow207

Of course they aren’t going to change anything. This is free publicity. Every article mentions “November-release ‘Breaking Dawn.’” None of this is bad for them.

  • Crazy-Eight

Hell yeah thyey should go on with regular press events. Think of it as the consequence of being unfaithful to Rob. I mean come on! Is there no loyalty with couples anymore?!

    • Crazy-Eight

      *They*

    • electric bloom

Oh for goodness sake, it’s not like infidelity is a modern phenomenon.

  • Kay

looking forward to the soon to be awkward as hell interviews and premieres :)

    • http://benchpressabear.tumblr.com Joan

They were already awkward to begin with. LOL!

  • ForFrodo

this is going to be excellent

  • http://benchpressabear.tumblr.com Joan

Well, I even question Kristen’s safety on the red carpet… I wouldn’t want be her.

Of course Summit is not going to halt the promo, but I think there are going to be SOME changes (logistics, more than anything else…who’s gonna go to what and such) no matter what Summit says. It depends on whether or not Kristen and Rob are contractually obligated to make appearances together. Otherwise, I don’t think either of them would willingly go through that. If they are, then HOW FREAKING AWKWARD.

It’s just sad how this will end, at least with the films. I’m in no place to judge Rob and Kristen but I have this sense of longing and nostalgia thinking all those years. They started with Twilight. I guess it will end with Breaking Dawn. But I still have hopes for reconciliation. But it’s just that… hope.

  • Me

Good for them. It’ll come for some major awkward screen time between them and that should be pretty amusing.

  • Bella Cullens

They can still act as lovers in public`,after all Robert is a great actor. ^_^ Maybe Robert will have new an affair by then.^_^ That will solve all the akwards.^_^Or they can act as “good friends” in public. After all, Robert is such an English gentleman.

  • http://www.korracast.com/ Fravit

Man. The high ups and Summit must be pissed. What a marketing fiasco.

  • Jess C.

It shouldn’t affect the promotion at all! The Twilight Franchise isn’t about Kristen or Rob, its about the world of the Cullen’s and Bella and Edward! Yes, these actors portray these amazing characters, but that’s all that it is! Acting! Who really cares if they are together or not? I sure don’t! It’s not cool what happened, so I am not going to let it ruin my experience of the last movie of this amazing series!

  • Margo Mann

Rob and Kristen, so talk already and get it over with.  The first meeting will be the toughest so what?  You guys weren’t married, there are no kids involved.  Hollywood couples break up but sometimes can remain civil to eachother.
