Emma Stone is set to star in Cameron Crowe’s Deep Tiki feature, based on a revamped version of a previous Crowe script.
First Showing reports:
Variety’s Jeff Sneider learned that despite Crowe touting a “new comedy” earlier this year, that project is actually just a reworked version of his script for Deep Tiki. And while attempts were made to keep that story under wraps, it was said to focus on a military weapons consultant deployed to a dormant base in Hawaii to supervise the launch of a spy satellite. However, he soon has moments of self-discovery as he realizes the relationships he left behind. The story gets a little out there with Hawaiian Gods and a volcano sacrifice, and thus drew some comparisons to Joe Versus the Volcano starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.
Apart from this news, there isn’t much known on the project. It will certainly be fun to see Stone return to a comedy project after The Amazing Spider-Man. Are you interested in seeing Crowe (Almost Famous) and Stone team up?
