    She was actually trained as a child to be serious and keep her emotions in check the time. It’s stayed with her and not really her fault. Hence all that drama after Diana died. My history teacher went on about that, and he pretty much dared us to find a picture where she’s smiling. (They’re plenty, but she’s definitely not completely open with her emotions)

        Why do people think she has to fake emotions? She is who she is and her personality is a result of all her experiences. Would it be better if she forced herself to smile all the time? For me that’s much worse… And it was a long ceremony, one is bound to look serious through some of it, specially at her age.

        Ask anyone who is any any profession that puts you in the public eye like this: There is no “she is who she is.” When you are at a public event promoting your country you are queen first, yourself maybe second. She is fully aware of that as she spent countless years preaching that to Princess Di, and I’m sure to Kate as well.

This is not nice. She’s in the old age. You’d look the same when you’re old. When your face muscles go all droopy. I think she was fantastic allowing to be in the opening scene like this.

  I agree. Considering her age and traditional personality, I thought it was awesome she participated the way she did. That video with James Bond and the parachute thing was pretty cool and a nice twist to her appearance. And the fact that she assisted to the whole thing must have been tiring. I’m not even British and I was thrilled with her!

This is offensive and disrespectful and I thought the queen looked suitably touched by the ceremony. It must be difficult when you know everyone is watching you and picking apart all your reactions. I was extremely proud of and impressed by everyone involved in the ceremony.

people who complain about her not smiling just don’t get the queen and her image. she doesn’t need to be an open book for people to know that she appreciates what is being done for her. as a brit, i prefer that she is classy and quiet about her feelings and not faking anything. the queen is supposed to serve the people and not let her own emotions take control. i see how you could think that she is not being grateful but she isn’t a celebrity and was brought up to be taciturn and put the the feelings of others before her own. I thinks the memes are hilarious but the comments seem pretty demanding of an 86 year old being made to sit in a stadium for 5 hours.
