Using filing permits already submitted by Universal to the City of Orlando, a theme park enthusiast and artist came up with a detailed rendering of what Universal Orlando’s upcoming Diagon Alley expansion may look like.

Credit goes to Violarum in the OrlandoUnited forums for working up this impressive piece.

Good fans know that Universal is secretly working on Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida, the neighbor of Islands of Adventure (where The Wizarding World opened in 2010). It has yet to announce the project other than saying that it is indeed creating an expansion.

A working Hogwarts Express will connect The Wizarding World with Diagon Alley. Rumored attractions include an indoor Gringotts roller coaster, The Leaky Cauldron, and Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes.

    I seriously CAN NOT WAIT!

If the expansion looks anything like that, it’ll be absolutely amazing!!

I still think it’s so tacky that they’ll be in separate parks, meaning you’ll have to get both tickets.

    • Katie

      yeah that really sucks.

  • VoldyBored

The people behind Harry Potter films (props dept., animation dept., etc.) and the park artists are very creative. Great work!

  • d3erudite

I hate the idea of potter in both parks but I have to say I’m excited for this.

    • Pennytime101

       Both parks????

      • SnatcherGirl

The Hogsmeade area is currently in The Islands of Adventure. This, Diagon Alley, is going to be in Universal Studios, supposedly where Jaws was. The parks are right next to each other, but are separate. Which means paying for two tickets… *le sigh*

  • Rayeofsunshine

Was just at Universal. They sure are building something! Looks like a railroad!

  • applepie

    I’m so excited!! :)

  • Tom

It looks WAAAAY TO BIG! It´s bigger than Wizarding World itself!

Forced perspective, theme parks use it all the time. I’m guessing there will be a lot of false store fronts, seeing as there appears to be one large building in the center that will probably house the main restuarant. The streets look to be a bit than Hogsmeade, but I think the original is stil going to end up being much larger, especially when you factor in the space Hippogriff and Dragon Challenge takes up.

The large building is most likely Gringotts imo.

        • http://www.korracast.com/ Fravit

The building in the upper right is definitely gringotts, you can see the gringotts facade in front of it (not to mention it’s the only building large enough on the blueprints to hold an indoor hybrid coaster.) the building i was referring to was on the lower left. it will most likely be surrounded my false store fronts on the outside, but inside hold a restaurant / kitchen facilities /etc. at least, that’s my guess.

I just hate the idea of Diagon Alley and Hogsmade/Hogwarts are separate so you have to buy tickets for both parts. There both suppose be in the same world and the same book or the same movie.

    • Effielova

They will most likely introduce a park hopper ticket like Disney has. They know people especially families with not so big budgets will not want to pay for two tickets so they will introduce a parkhopper.

      • http://twitter.com/TSSD TSSD

They already have a park hopper ticket.

        • Effielova

Disney has the park hopper not Universal

          • CamdenHey

A two park ticket is a “park hopper”. You can opt two visit the parks on the same day.

Universal definitely has park hopper tickets… Look it up.

    • guest

they might be in the same world- but they’re definitely in different parts.

      Hogsmeade= somewhere in scotland

      Diagon alley= london

so it’s not too far fetched.

It looks like a big part of London… Maybe put a Ministry of magic also?? please??

  • Pudding

    This is awesome!!!

  • Holyangel104

    awesome!!!!!

Merlin’s beard! Is it going to have Gringotts there! OMG, I really can’t  wait to go there, and I hope that by the time I get money, all of those places are there, because I can’t afford to go there more than once in a decade, haha. Looks wonderful. And, hey, wait! Those internal spaces there are for people to walk in and have more things to shop for? If that’s true I am really excited about it, if it’s just a void, okay, I can cope with that.

Well, firstly, a huge thanks to any and all compliments, especially to Andrew Sims for actually finding it within himself to post some sketch I did based off of plans we’ve had for a while on a website none other than Hypable. There’s a past notion of mine that follows me – “I just died” – on Orlando United, and it definitely occurred when I saw this.

But enough about that, onto the information. This is my concept based on the official plans from the South Florida Water Management District, and I’d like to say that some of the more iconic landmarks you see (namely Gringotts, St. Pancras, Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes, etc.) are everything but confirmed by Universal at this point. Yes, you will travel on the Hogwarts Express and buy what will be something of a ‘Potter Pass’ which guests will use to visit either section (and which will probably be equivalent to a 2-Park Pass).

To follow more information presented about the expansion as it is known (as well as some nice fan photography), I also co-run a WWoHP blog with my good friend Claudia (more commonly known as Ravenclawdia): thewizardingworldofharrypotter.tumblr.com

    Cheers and butterbeers!

After this is done, all that’s left is finding a way to make it snow in Florida!

    I would love to visit

  • Katie

wow this seems wicked. It actually makes me (kind of) happy that i haven’t been able to go to the park yet, because now I can wait for the expansion and see even more!
