Coraline writer Neil Gaiman is to pen a prequel mini-series to the comic that made him famous.
The announcement was made at the DC panel of San Diego Comic-Con, with Neil himself announcing a collaboration with J.H. Williams. The as yet untitled prequel will be released next year, to celebrate 25 years since Sandman #1 was released. Gaiman will tell “the story of what had happened to Morpheus to allow him to be so easily captured in The Sandman #1, and why he was returned from far away, exhausted beyond imagining, and dressed for war.”
