Those who grew up in the ’90s or saw the series on Toonami a decade ago are going to be excited come 2013.

At an event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the 1st series, with guests including the original voices of Sailor Moon/Usagi Tsukino (Serena in the American dub) And Tuxedo Mask/Mamoru Chiba (Darien). Naoko Takeuchi, the author of the original manga, made the announcement with Japanese pop group Momoiro Clover Z, who will provide the theme song for the new series.
At the event they sang a cover of the original theme Moonlight Densetsu.
The new anime will be released simultaneously around the world, Summer 2013.
The hype for a new series has been building up since last year when the Sailor Moon manga was reprinted and landed on The New York Times‘ Manga Best Seller list, and the prequel story Sailor V was brought over from Japan.
