Director Michael Bay can’t seem to catch a break with his Ninja Turtles reboot, which was postponed today by Paramount Pictures. You may remember a few months back, fans of the popular TV show and live action films were up in arms over Michael Bay’s decision to rewrite the Ninja Turtles as “aliens.”

“Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script.” – Michael Bay

Originally planned to be released Christmas Day, 2013, the studio has now postponed it by 10 weeks, resulting in a May 16, 2014 release. Apparently the studio is hoping to cut $10-20 million from the budget through this move, bringing it down to a reported $125 million. Given the uproar the last time his Ninja Turtles reboot hit a snag, Bay might be rethinking his decision to remake the popular 1990 live action feature, which resulted in two sequels. The turtles are being shot with motion capture CGI, much like what we’ve seen in Peter Jackson’s epic remake of King Kong, which was also used in Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Are you starting to worry about whether or not the Teenage Mutant (Alien) Ninja Turtles will even see the big screen again?

Thanks to SuperHeroHype for the tip.

He can’t get a break, can he :b. Y’know if this movie does well, Michael Bay is probably gonna be stuck doing late 80′s/early 90′s bad kiddie TV shows. Who wants to bet he does a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie next?

    • rdh014

Not gonna lie. I would see a Power Rangers movie.

This is good! Not bad! Hopefully they find a new director wanting to bring something fresh, not full of booms and boobs.

Better News: They decide to cancel plans for a TMNT movie altogether, and instead make a new, original movie that isn’t based on some old kids cartoon!

  • gcw07

I hope they just cancel it instead.

GOOD! I seriously do not like this man. It’s like he’s hellbent on ruining all of my favorite childhood cartoons!!

Either the math is off or the date is off:  10 weeks from Christmas Day would be around March 16, not May 16…

Ugh, somehow I knew that the Ninja Turtles would be shot in CGI when it came to Bay remaking it.
