Hollywood screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis is throwing his name into the ring to write the book-to-film adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey. He even went so far as to suggest who should direct.
The American Psycho writer took to his Twitter to share his thoughts:
Completely committed to adapting Fifty Shades of Grey. This is not a joke. Christian Grey and Ana: potentially great cinematic characters.

Hope E.L. James doesn’t think I’m being a prankster. I really want to adapt her novels for the screen. Christian Grey is a writer’s dream…

Thanks to everyone supporting BEE adapting Fifty Shades of Grey: the response has been huge and amazing. Hope E.L. James feels the same way.

The casting of Christian in “Fifty Shades of Grey” wouldn’t be up to me but I have certain actors in mind. And a particular actress for Ana.

I think David Cronenberg is a great idea for directing Fifty Shades of Grey and we worked together on American Psycho in its initial phase.

It was recently reported that 50 Shades author E.L. James will soon be in Hollywood to find a producer with her agent. From there they will find a writer and director.
