‘Catching Fire’ crew will head to Kauai, Hawaii for arena filming

Pre-production is currently underway for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and new information about where exactly they’ll be filming crucial scenes has been revealed.

Well sourced news reporter Russ Bowen shared on Twitter that filming for the big arena scenes will be happening in Kauai, Hawaii, one of the state’s islands. Currently they plan to film in Kauai during the last three weeks of the production.

In addition, a Lionsgate photographer recently visited Henry River in North Carolina (where the Seam scenes were filmed), and shooting there is to take place in early fall.

Since March, rumors have stated that Catching Fire filming would take place in Hawaii to capture the new arena. This is the first time we’ve heard of a specific island, however. You can see some photos of Kauai below:

      nope, pre-production is where everything happens at once, and even though they’ve started casting it can take a LONG time. Locations are the same, but obviously they’re in the process of locking this one in now, so casting hopefully isn’t too far behind. And besides, they’ll try to drag out the annoucements for casting as long as they can so they don’t show all the new actors at once.

Awesome, this was my favorite part of Catching fire, the tropical scenery. I love the contrast between the cold winter in district 12 to this.

That looks spectacular! It’s different to how I imagined it, but I always thought I imagined it too small… But once I get an image in my head, I find it hard to change it. I’m excited to see how they’ll get the clock formation :)

I think it’s PERFECT for the scenes honestly. Catching Fire was my favorite out of the three books and I can’t express the excitement I have for the movie in words. Now, I’m just really anxious for the casting!! :)

I live on Kauai. Many movies are filmed here – Pirates of the Caribbean, Jurassic Park, Avatar… There are many places this could work for Catching Fire, without the giant mountains. I hope I get a peek at some of the filming….
