The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle creator Kevin Williamson comments on Elena’s big change, the Circle‘s cancellation, and why he wants Phoebe Tonkin in Mystic Falls.
In an in-depth interview with IGN, Williamson opens up about the Secret Circle cancellation, saying:
I am so sorry to all the fans, but that show is gone. I just don’t think it ever found its audience — I don’t know. Because I feel like we had some beautiful, wonderfully talented actors, the show looked beautiful, and there was a lot of hard work put into it.
On wanting Phoebe Tonkin to transition to The Vampire Diaries:
I loved the cast. I love Phoebe [Tonkin]. I love her. I want her on Vampire Diaries. I ought to write her in.
And finally, he also talks about the decision to turn Elena into a vampire at the end of season 3:
To me the most moving moment in the whole thing is when Elena says, “I don’t want to be a vampire.” That worked, and I think that’s going to drive the entire fourth season for a long time, and watching her on that journey.
That sounds like pretty definitive closure from Kevin Williamson, doesn’t it?
