Viral video: Every single ‘Harry Potter’ spell seen in the films in 17 minutes

By reading this headline alone, you know you’re in for a treat.

YouTube user TheCussingChannel took all eight Harry Potter films and isolated only the spell clips to create this 17-minute treat for Potter fans.

The creator explains how they decided which spells to grab:

Generally… magic-related things with wands, sometimes with spoken words and sometimes without. A few other “spells” find their way in there, where a wand may not be present but they merely wave a hand–and there’s one Voldemort laugh that has no business being included, but I couldn’t resist.

Basically, if they’re doing spell/wand/hand-based magic on camera, I tried to leave it in, as well as give you little bit of the effects of each spell, when possible. Yes, I’m sure I missed one, and yes, it’s probably your favorite.

I never noticed the ” woofewwwew” sounds every time a wand was used in PoA. I kinda like it. Sounds like a fairy taking a leak

This is awesome! Only spell that I noticed that was missing was Hermione’s obliviate on her parents, so very good job on the maker’s part! It’s interesting to see how the spells increase in both amount and difficulty throughout the movies.

The Dumbledore vs. Voldemort fight in Order of Phoenix is so good. The whole ‘battle jinx’ stuff with Stupify and such can be cool, but I always prefer the creative spells.

  Agreed. The thing I liked the most about that scene, though, was the lack of music. I like how the only sounds were their voices and the effects of the spells. This is one of those few instances in which I’m glad John Williams didn’t do the score. He probably would have insisted on epic battle music during that scene, and in my opinion, that would have ruined it. It would have felt less raw and powerful.

  That’s actually George during the cease-fire. It was part on the montage during Voldy’s “You have fought valiantly, I command my forces to retreat, etc.” speech.
  
  At least, I’m pretty sure that’s George…it doesn’t look like he died in that clip, and seeing as no more spells were cast after that…gah, I don’t know. I’m second guessing myself now lol.

I never realized how much wand work was in the last two movies as opposed to the first six.

The Dumbledore/Voldemort duel is so much more epic after nearly 8 minutes of stupefys and expelliarmuses.

If there’s anything I wish they’d kept in, it would be Hagrid giving Dudley a pig tail. C’mon, that was one of Hagrid’s only spells.

Also (last thing, sorry this comment is getting so long), did anyone else realize the goof where Barty Crouch Jr. casts the spell with his left hand, but in the close up it’s his right. It’s been seven years and this is the first time I saw that. lol.

Pretty intense hard work; especially with the many spells. Well done with their DH part 2 mashup. And I love how because of this video I noticed for the first time ever that the Giant totally takes someone out with the quidditch hoop in the courtyard (timecode – 15:11)

Missed: Hermione obliviating her parents in DH1 and Snape healing Draco after fight between Harry and Draco. :-)

Such a difference between PS and DH. In a way they were lucky to progress these films along with the progression of the technical capacibilities.

I love the Protego Maxima/Fianti Duro scene in DH2.

Order of the Phoenix had the best magic in it, Dumbledore’s duel with Voldemort = EPIC! But the most impressive magic was in Deathly Hallows Part 2, it all looked so magical and my fav was definitely Aberforth’s patronus and the moment when Harry finally disarms Voldemort – i scream Yes! every the time!

I noticed something though, they never really didn’t start showing what the magic that came out of wand looks like until POA but more dominantly in GOF.
