Sad news for Lincoln Lee fans: sources have confirmed that Seth Gabel will not be a regular in Fringe‘s fifth and final season.

It may not come as a huge shock for fans who are up to speed on Fringe, seeing as the remaining Lincoln opted to stay with Fauxlivia in the red universe when it was sealed off.

But now it’s official: TV Line can confirm that Seth Gabel will indeed not be a regular in season 5 – and most likely, he won’t appear at all. Anna Torv definitely doesn’t think so, lamenting that, “I don’t think [we'll see Lincoln again], unless we go to the other side.”

We doubt that Fringe would spend its remaining 13 episodes literally opening a door to an already resolved storyline. Still, it would be nice to get a glimpse at Lincoln and Fauxlivia’s lives a little ways down the road. What do you think, Fringe fans?

It should almost be safe to say that we might not see the red universe in season 5 or we will but we won’t see Lincoln…

    It’s sad. I liked the red universe…

I’m confused.  I thought they had only solved the Belly problem, not the our-worlds-are-falling-apart problem. Or are those two the same?

The producers know that we all love the red verse and we all love Lincoln. So while this past season did attempt to end the red verse and Lincoln’s stories for good, with the idea that we will no longer need to go back there or see those characters anymore, I think they do secretly have every intention to pleasantly surprise the fans with an awesome and epic guest spot return of Lincoln in season 5 and possibly a look at the red verse again one last time.
