Rob Pattinson comments on ‘Twilight’ frenzy calming down, ‘Hunger Games’ heating up

Speaking at Cannes to promote his new film Cosmopolis, Twilight lead Robert Pattinson briefly discussed how the hype for Twilight has died down and The Hunger Games‘ is heating up.

After asking about promoting Breaking Dawn – Part 2 this Fall, he said:

“I’m curious to reunite with this universe for the last time, to see the effect it will have on me and on the audience. I feel like the frenzy is starting to die down. We step into the era of The Hunger Games, the world wants fresh meat!”

Do you agree that Twilight’s fandom has dwindled at all? If one thing’s for sure, The Hunger Games has heated up quick.

No people are still excited about it but it is coming to an end and the Hunger Games is more hyped up and fans have a lot to look forward too but I still love Twilight more.

I use to be a Twilight fan girl, but I’ve kind a just grown out of the series (I’m a 22 year old college student who first read the books in high school). I still love the books, but I have just been so disappointed by the movies that I have lost my enthusiasm for the series.

I went to the first 3 midnight releases, but when it came time for Breaking Dawn part one I really didn’t care to go see it until the weekend so I wouldn’t have to deal with the still die hard fans of the series. I don’t know if the fandom is shrinking or changing or maybe people are just not as excited as they use to be.

I know that the wait between the last 2 movies has been too long. If it would have been closer together like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movies I think the hype would be stronger. If anything, the wait is what might be causing the frenzy to die down.

I only watched the first Twilight movie on the big screen….. the rest??? I waited for it on TV or rented a dvd…… Guess I lost my appetite for it when I realized that half the story was about Bella drooling over Edward…. But i am a HUGE fan of the Hunger Games…. I read the books in three days and i could feel the emotion and the mental strain it had on katniss….. I can fully relate…..

I think it was inevitable that this fandom would die down. It just doesn’t have what I think it needs to have staying power. Do I think people will still pick up the series and read it, sure… but as for it being an ongoing franchise phenomenon like Star Wars or Harry Potter I just don’t see it.
