For as long as Gleeks have known, Glee has been a show they tune in to see new episodes of on Tuesdays.

Now Fox has announced that the show will be moving to Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET for the fourth season.

The announcement was made this morning during its Fall 2012 lineup presentation. It’ll follow X Factor result episodes (which are at 8 p.m. ET).

As we’ve reported on numerous occasions, Glee has been falling in the ratings over the past few months. Fox hopes a move to Thursday will increase its viewership.

Do you think it’s a good idea?

UPDATE: Fox announced two season four guest stars, their reasoning behind moving to Thursdays, and the season four plotline during a conference call this morning!

Yes.  I think the move to 9 is the best choice though because people are still coming home and putting kids to bed around 8.

  • Andy

Moving to 8 was one of the worst things to happen to Glee. I’m not thrilled that it’s going to be on at the same time as Grey’s Anatomy, but I’m happy it’s getting it’s 9:00 time slot back.

  • KAXSY

    Thanks god!!!!!!

  • fursylima

So I have to choose between Glee and Grey’s?  Grey’s has been a Thursday night thing in our house for years.  Glee will be getting DVR’d for sure.  I’ll still watch it, but I’ll miss it on Tuesdays.

  • Shamexonxme

Hahaha if they thought ratings were low before they are gonna be at an ALL TIME LOW now.

9pm is too late, considering most of their fanbase are little kids.

Plus Thursday’s at 8pm is the vampire diaries and Grey’s – too very tough contenders.

Season four is gonna bomb anyway – this season was all sorts of awful

    • Andy

I think that part of the motivation behind the move – Glee is NOT a show targeted at little kids. There is so much in the pilot that clearly indicates that the show intended to target an older audience, they had to dilute a lot of the humour and topics to be appropriate for an earlier time slot, and the show suffered creatively because of it.

    • Anna-FilmGirl

9pm isn’t really too late. It’s always been 9pm on a Thursday here in Ireland (and I presume the UK) and it’s still very popular. I don’t see a problem, really. If anything, this will help the show creatively by allowing it to be more mature, which is great. If Season 4 really ends up being the final season of Glee, I’m just glad it’ll have the creative space to go out on a bang.

9pm on Thursday is perfect as the show gets juicier and more mature. It will have X Factor results lead in which will automatically bring big numbers! Smart move all around from Fox!

  • MattyW04

My Thursday nights are pretty full already, and Glee fit perfectly into my Tuesday nights. Guess I’ll be PVR’ing.

  • Charlotte Zapfe

    bad idea..

  • Mdrich12

I don’t think this is a good idea.  Grey’s is that time as are many other shows.  I’ll for sure be DVRing Glee from now on.  This move may just kill Glee.

  • Kate

Hrm. Guess I’ll be streaming it online the next day. It suited my Tuesday perfectly, but my Thursdays are full. Maybe I’ll choose it over Grey’s. Maybe. It’s just good they didn’t put it up against TVD; it’d be a definite next day stream then.

    • jozefd14

I always stream Glee here in the East coast.. especially since about 30 minutes it airs in the east coast, it’s already online.. ready for me to watch without commercials which I love :)

It is against TVD though cause TVD was moved to 9pm.

I’m never able to watch on Tuesdays so I have to DVR it but can see it on Thursdays because I don’t really have any other shows to watch. On the other hand all these other extremely popular shows are on at the exact same time. Glee has a strong fan base but I’m not sure how it will do against Greys.

    • Andy

I think its also the matter of the number of people who watch both, and will likely be turning to the more consistently well-written grey’s anatomy if they have to choose. Glee releases so many spoilers – full performances, all of the songs, not to mention everything that gets leaked one way or another; its very easy to find out the entire episode before it airs, and consequently people don’t (or won’t) feel the need to tune in live to see what happens. Obviously you can still find spoilers for Grey’s Anatomy, but nowhere near the way Glee spoilers are circulating. Maybe Fox has some big master plan behind this switch, maybe they hadn’t thought Grey’s was going to get picked up next season.

It will certainly be interesting to see. Especially given X Factor’s results show immediately before it. Those shows always leave the results to the last minutes of the program, and its possible that the Nielson ratings for Glee will be boosted significantly when X Factor runs over their hour slot and its viewers are counted for Glee. I’m not sure I’m feeling this show within a show idea though. . .

  • Enelya

Oh the joy of living on the west coast and getting American time shifting…….Glee at 6 and Greys at 9 :)

  • Phantomoca

Well, season 3 will be my last of Glee. Grey’s Anatomy is just too important.

    • jordan.d

yeah, conflict with Grey’s Anatomy is not going to work for me either

  • jozefd14

Wonder when we’ll have “Glee First Listen” like if it’s still on Friday or some other day…

  • July

    Grrr….

  • ruby

Why isn’t t on Tuesdays though?

  • Jael

    OMG! Rainbow Dash!
Hey Hypable, will we ever get someone to cover My Little Pony news?  Just wondering.

    • Phantomoca

“My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic” on Netflix. Best. Show. Ever.

  • SeanV22

It was a huge mistake moving Glee to 8pm to begin with. They only did it to try and appeal to an even younger audience which backfired because all it did was give parents a reason to complain about the mature (and some would say, “inappropriate”) content. I think it’s great they’re moving it back to 9pm, however putting it on Thursdays may not be the best idea. They thought putting Glee on against NCIS was brutal; wait until it goes up against Grey’s Anatomy, Person of Interest, The Office/P&R… I love Glee, but let’s be real, this could be the final nail in the coffin.

I don’t know what this’ll do to my TV nights now… I guess SOMETHING’ll have to be watched on Hulu…

  • Ckatmyla

Hmm, looks like Brittany has a G3 Rainbow Dash, somepony upgrade her! ;P

    • Ckatmyla

But seriously, why do all my shows want to go to Thursdays? Do you WANT me to have to choose and then DVR the rest?

  • RuMbLeRoAr

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Candace

Man  was just searching for when TVD Will be showing season 4 and they took me here!

  • LilyLuna

I don’t like this very much. I love having Glee on a Tuesday, it gets me through the beginning of the week.
