The Once Upon a Time showrunners Kitsis and Horowitz drop some hints about the season 1 finale “A Land Without Magic,” including whether Emma might sacrifice herself to save Henry and the others!
In an interview with TV Guide, Adam Horowitz and Ed Kitsis preview Sunday’s epic conclusion to the first season of Once Upon a Time. Speaking about whether Emma will finally start believing, they say:
The stakes have never been higher for what she’s dealing with, which is Henry. She’s from this world, and what she’s being asked to believe by Henry, it’s a pretty monumental leap for anyone to make. For us, it is important that the day that Emma does believe, we feel like we’ve earned it, as opposed to, it’s episode 2 and now she believes and she is fighting sea monsters.
That sounds like maybe she’ll begin believing in the finale, doesn’t it?
The writers also talk about whether someone will die, and (seemingly in confirmation) respond:
One of our themes this season has been magic has a price and that that price is going to be paid in the finale.
We know that Emilie de Ravin will be resurfacing in the finale, but will it be in Storybrooke? The writers won’t say, instead saying that:
I can’t image that if Mr. Gold was told that not only was Belle not dead, but that he was lied to and she’s been imprisoned for all this time, I would start running. In the finale, we endeavor to satisfy some of the things we’ve set up this year. As a fan, I would be completely annoyed if we saw at the end of Episode 12 that she was locked in an insane asylum and we don’t return to that. I would throw something at the screen.
The episode airs tomorrow night at 8/7c on ABC!
