‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 3 finale just finished airing! What did you think?

The Vampire Diaries‘ third season has drawn to a close. We’re still speechless. Share your reactions and discuss what happened with other fans!

Julie Plec promised us tears, did she deliver? After everything that’s happened this season, it’s weird to think that it’s all over. How are we supposed to wait until September now?!

  I know. I read the books and I was STILL shocked! Because last season Elena said she didnt want to be a vampire and I thought the show had basically decided she wouldnt be a vampire.

This whole finale had me all over the place. I got teary, I wanted to punch Elena, I wanted to hug Damon. Elena telling him maybe if she’d met him first…and then we learn she did but he wiped her memory! Ahh. And Klaus now being in Tyler’s body. Elena coming back! I don’t even know what to think.

As soon as we saw the truck go off the bridge in the preview, I knew what was going to happen.

Honestly, I was most upset about Alaric. He’s the only character I’ve had interest in most of this season. Though the magic binding him and Elena wasn’t clear on what would happen if she were resurrected, and I have a feeling that will depend on whether Matt Davis’ pilot gets picked up or not.

(And maybe I was yelling at the TV for Damon to kiss Alaric already during that fight scene in the warehouse, but whatever…)

    She might be “dead,” but the way this show seems to make up its mythology as it goes, I can easily see them saying that because she’s “undead,” that brings undead!Alaric back as well. Ghost!Alaric seems like a way to hold his place in the show until they know what Matt Davis is doing for the new TV season.

OMG OMG OMG that was the best season finale in awhile though i thought it was kinda obvious elena was going to turn into a vamp,i’ll admit i almost started to cry when elena was talking to damon it was so sad i really wanted her to pick him but who knows what will happen now she is a vamp oh and can i just say i LOVED the flashbacks scenes seeing her talk to damon and stefen saving her was great can’t wait for season 4 also if klaus is still alive who was in the coffin and where is the real tyler!

Such an amazing finale. It was expected that Elena would become a vampire, but it was still a shock to see it all go down. Also, every single scene with Damon in this episode had me either laughing out loud or tearing up. Ian Somerhalder truly did a fantastic job in this episode. I still can’t believe Elena met Damon first. I hope Tyler isn’t dead even if Klaus is possessing his body, and as for Bonnie… Well, this is the first time in the last 3 seasons that I am finding her an interesting character. I hope Scary Bad Bonnie sticks around for a while.

At least now the Carolaus and Caroler (?) shippers can both be happy…

SO MANY EMOTIONS. The only thing that I’m really upset about is Elena choosing Stefan. The minute I realized I yelled at my computer, “*GASP* That skank. No!” Awesome episode, though. I was crying my eyes out. Ian Somerhalder was pure perfection!

That finale was EPIC! SO much to discuss in the podcast this week! Very interesting twist with Klaus being in Tyler’s body?!?! Seriously can’t wait to see how THAT plays out. Kind of like when Klaus was in Alaric. Speaking of love how he gets to see Jeremy at the end

I just hope Elena reconsiders her choice once she learns she met Damon first since that is one of her reasons she gives Damon of why she picked Stefan….This whole episode had me choked up with Tyler, Damon, Alaric, Matt, and Elena!!!…I was soo shocked about Klaus and then a second time!!…This show is absolutely the best!!!

OMG I can’t believe that actually happened..Elena told Damon that if she met him first maybe she would pick him and now that she is a vampire she will remember and Nina Dobrev said in an interview that she doesn’t think Elena will stick with her decision for long so I hope in season 4 she changes her mind and chooses Damon..also I wonder what will happen with Caroline and the klaus/Tyler thing cuz she seems to have feelings for klaus but now he is in her bfs body so I wonder how that’s going to play out

I always thought in the back of my mind they’d eventually turn Elena into a vampire, I just didn’t think it would be so soon. TVD has had me on the edge of my seat all season long. I’m so impressed by the writing and directing and it makes me proud that they film an hour away from me!! Plus my godfather and his son works on set ^_^

My mom walked in on me crying and just laughed, but I couldn’t believe what was happening before my eyes! This was seriously the most shocking season finale yet. Elena and Damon are meant to be, and the flashback proved that. I’m so excited for season 4, only the wait is going to be terrible. Good job TVD, good job!

That was such a good finale! I was so happy for Stefan and Elena. That kiss has been waiting all season long. It is amazing to look back at the journey that Stefan went through this season along with Elena. The beggining of the season focused on getting Stefan back, and she finally did. Granted she also has Damon now too… I loved all the flashback scenes, and the fact that Elana technically met Damon first was a great way to keep the love triangle going into the next season. The past and present car sinking scenes were really cool to see right next to each other too.

When thinking about next season, I thought about Elena’s reaction to the recent events. If her opinions are still the same as the end of last season and she does not want to become a vampire, then I think she’s going to blame someone. Maybe not outloud, but she will hold a grudge against someone for what happened to her. When thinking about who she would blame, really it could be many people. Matt (assuming he survived) and Jeremy decided to take her out of the house in the first place and told Alaric where Damon and Klaus were (Therefore indirectly leading to the “death” of Klaus), Rebekah ran them off the road, Merideth gave her blood, Stefan took Matt out of the car firsrt, but Elena chose to not be saved first. So I really have no idea. I’m still in shock that they changed her already. I can’t wait until next season…

Three last points:
1- I miss Jenna and not evil Alaric
2- Poor Jeremy. I don’t know how he’s going to survive this one
3- Bonnie should get some type of award because she saves over half the characters on the show on a daily basis. If it weren’t for her everyone would have been dead a long long time ago.

Can’t wait for the new SDC!!

I don’t see how turning Elena would help the story, so I’m not buying it right now. But frankly, I don’t see loopholes…unless she just passed out and came back at the hospital after the revived her…so she died just for a few minutes, à la Buffy!

I did cry, but some part of me was glad that they at least went back to the origin of the whole series: the books. And if that foreshadows anything then I can’t wait until the new season begins.

What a beautiful episode… Julie Plec and co have captured the characters struggles … love that Elena will now remember all the things Damon compelled her to forget… if you rewatch from season 1, you can clearly see that this is a love story about Damon and Elena…. Stefan is there but he more like that safe high-school love. Damon represents real and consuming epic love.

I have to admit I was disappointed that Elena chose Stefan (I may have yelled out NO) but I think there is definitely hope for Damon and Elena yet.

Quick question: Does anyone know/have theories on the significance of the 1020 storage container? It seemed as though Alaric knew it would be that container when he looked at the number.

  I actually prefer Stelena to Delena, but this season have been shipping Elena/no one while she gets her head on straight. And this is most certainly going to screw her up even more and a love triangle is only going to make things harder on her.

That was one crazy episode. I really wanted Elena to choose Damon, but at least she’s a vampire now. I’ve been waiting for that to happen. It will be interesting to see how it plays out in the next season. Damon may still have a chance.

Overall I’m very happy about the episode. It definitely managed to live up to my expectations.

When you become a vampire though, don’t you remember what people compelled you to forget? (I don’t remember if it happens in this series or another vampire series). So she will remember that she met Damon first. In the books she turns badass and kinda evil for a little bit and forgets about Stefan. I know the series isn’t really anything like the books, which is great either way. But I definitely wonder if it will go that way!

    My major annoyance was that bodies float in water… Surely he could just pull Matt out of the car and give him a shove upwards (see hp4 in the second task if you dont know what i mean) then he could grab Elena? I know that wouldnt be half an amazing plotline as the brilliant one we got but it irked me a bit.

What. An. Amazing. Episode!! I still have butterflies in my stomach from it!! I’m so very glad that this isn’t the “end” of Klaus, I absolutely love him. Bonnie’s a bad bitch/witch lol And I may be in the minority here because I was the only one in my group of friends that gather for our Thursday shows that prefers Elena w/ Stefan other than Damon. I was glad that she picked Stefan but I felt terrible for Damon. Especially NOW that we all know Damon met her first!! I feel that Stelena just fits better together in general, though now that will ALL change because Elena is now a vamp. I prefer Damon with Rebekah ;) or with that reporter he compelled or pretty much anyone. I just love everything about him! lol

So through all the tears I cried during last nights episode there was really only one death (other than Elena’s “death”) Alaric’s! That was insane! It was only “Dark-laric’s death also, I had already done my crying 2 or 3 episodes ago when Good-Alaric died.

Cannot wait until Season 4, or for more speculation on TSD :)))

People keep saying that she is going to go for Damon now because she “will remember that she met him first”. I honestly think she was just telling him that because she thought it would make it easier. No one wants to hear “i didn’t choose you because the other person is better” so I see that answer as kind of a cop out and not really having any meaning. I feel really bad for Damon in all of this but I honestly believe he deserves someone better. After all he’s been through he deserves someone who loves him first and who doesn’t just make him an option.

1. Ian Somerhalder gets all the awards. Seriously, that last scene…

      Elena’s character was going absolutely nowhere. Her becoming a vampire is a way for her character to progress. She is now going to start to be interesting, not the other way around.

Amazing episode, so emotional, yes I cried for probably the final 15 minutes, I’m happy with the choice of Stefan although I do like Elena with both brothers, the scene where it showed Damon had met her first was a lovely suprise!

What an incredible hour of TV. Anyone who still hates Elena/Bonnie can just suck it. They were AWESOME!!!!

Damon & Elena’s first meeting, Elena making Stefan save Matt, Elena and her dad saying goodbye, Damon breaking down as he held Ric, Ric saying goodbye to Jeremy, Stefan staring at Elena on the autopsy table. I was GONE!!!! I hardly ever cry at TV shows and those last 10 mins just floored me. Stunning TV.

  Possibly. I hadn’t thought about that. I suppose there could be other people in Elena’s bloodline (slim possibility) but even if there were, I don’t think there would be another doppelganger in any point in the showtime. They usually are born hundreds of years apart, aren’t they?
  
  And that’s exactly what I thought when Stefan kissed Elena. We were both very wrong, but I understand why Elena made the choice she did at the time. However, I think things are going to get a bit murky next season when Elena is a vampire. Let’s just say Ripper Stefan isn’t the best brother to be teaching her how to be a vampire.

I can’t believe how quick and easy it was to make me hate Alaric. I was ready for him to die by this episode. I truly don’t think Elena will be with Stefan for more than an episode or two. Her reasons and expressed emotions choosing Stefan weren’t convincing but her tearful goodbye to Damon was. There is no way they aren’t getting together next season.

Quite upset that Elena’s now a vamp, the reason why i liked and related to her more than (i know i know, twilight comparison) Bella, was that she valued her life and she wanted to grow and learn and cared too much about her family – even though only Jeremy is left. I don’t think she’ll blame either brother -( Meredith maybe!!!!) but it’ll only make her choice even more difficult to make, especially now that she’ll know about all the things that Damon compelled her to forget. I still think she’ll choose Stefan though.

I like both brothers but Damon is so much more fun and interesting compared to Stefan, Stefan is safe, she’ll never be unhappy with him – but i’d rather go on an adventure with Damon. Stefan is more of the guy you’d spend the rest of your life with (Human Elena)… its a tough one. I like them both for different reasons.

One thing that annoyed me why couldn’t Bonnie use another person’s body to re-incarnate Klaus – i’m actually quite bored and tired with his ‘i want to rule the world’ attitude. I’m upset that Tyler is ‘gone’ – he’s still in the show but i’m going to miss him playing Tyler Lockwood now that stupid Klaus is stuck in his body.

Alaric dying was so sad, Jeremy is going to be so alone, poor kid and i just hope the writers make season 4 bigger and better, i don’t want to get bored with vampire Elena.
