‘Once Upon a Time’ renewed for season 2! (Update: And many other ABC shows)

As I said, I really like the characters and I love the idea. I never said anything hateful about it. I feel like once they stop making flashbacks for every character, and progress the story a little more forward, the show will have a lot more punch to it. Right now it feels super formulaic.

And there are some flashbacks that are necessary, but there have been others, like red riding hood, for which I could have done without a whole episode dedicated to. Some of their character-based episodes don’t move the present story forward, which is what I meant by stagnant. The first episode introduced a show about Emma, who has the possibility to save a town, and take them back to the home they know. The character-based shows pull the idea backwards, and don’t focus enough on the point. Moreover, they get a little predictable. And further, they have really pulled away from Emma’s characterization…and she’s the main character. For most of the season she’s stayed in a cloud of dust and been constantly thwarted by The Queen/Regina.
One episode I really enjoyed that was character-based was the mad hatter. Mainly because his story also pushed forward Emma’s, making her believe a little more. Then unfortunately the next episode took a step backwards and Emma never mentioned the possibility of believing. 
I would like to see more of the present, and when characters start believing/remembering, seeing the flashbacks in bits and pieces, sorta like Graham’s episode — that was great because Emma had a connection with Graham and his death affected her. At the moment, when a character like Red remembers who she is, it’s not going to be as impacting to the audience, because we already know! If they are to continue character-episodes, I would like to discover with them, not apart from them.

So that’s what I meant. And I feel like my comment related to the person above because s/he said eventually it has to end, but the show currently is dragging it through. I wanna feel a sense of completion. And I feel like the flashbacks slow down the show too much, and so when that sense of completion comes, I’m left slightly disappointed with the result (like Regina’s reason for hating Snow).
