Naya is great in Edge of Glory. So is Amber and Jenna. I love when those girls sing together.

Lea is amazing for I Was Here. Here is another epic song from her.

      They’re officially the GaGa-Glee girls :)

I was so excited to her Naya and Amber lead for that track. It’s EPIC!

  • BoyOnFire

*sigh* When will people realize that “Good Riddance* is a sad breakup song, not a graduation song?

    • http://twitter.com/StarkidSims Simone

‘I hope you had the time of your life’ < that could apply to a graduation just fine

    • Holly

I sang it as my leavers song when I finished primary school. It just depends how you interpret the lyrics I guess.

    • guest

      So what?

    • Alazear2

to be fair your right, When it was orignally written the song was a break up song, however the lyrics also work for graduation (when you understand the history of the song though it kind of ruins the whole belief in the idea that it is a happy song).

  • Andy

Forever Young has already made me get misty eyed, i don’t think I’m going to make it through the graduation episode!

  • Alyssa

I love You Get What You Give!

    • jozefd14

I always associate that song from Adam Sandler’s “Click” movie :)

I was going to hold off on posting this until Good Riddance was up as well but I’ll just add it later. Here are my thoughts on all of the new songs off the album.

I’m bummed that they gave I Won’t Give Up to Lea. Chord would’ve done the song really well. And come on, when you hear the lyrics they would fit the Samcedes storyline amazingly. Lea did a pretty good job, but I’m disappointed.
We Are the Champions is done very well, which doesn’t surprise me because last time Glee did Queen I thought they did it justice (Somebody to Love). Cory sung particularly well on this song, I’m impressed. Chris’s part wasn’t my favourite but he did well. Dianna had a very small part, but I thought she sounded great.

Naya is flawless on Edge of Glory, she does Gaga incredibly well. I love when Amber and Jenna sing together and this was no exception. Dianna surprised me as she sounded great too. This is definitely my favourite Glee Gaga song.

I’ve never heard Roots Before Branches before so I can’t really judge it. However I think that Lea did OK on it, it was kind of one-note for me. I hate to say it, but I’m getting tired of hearing Lea so much on this album.

I Was Here is one of my favourite songs off of 4. Lea sounds gorgeous on it, but this is her third solo. Regardless of how good she sounds on these songs, I’m getting tired of her being the star. Amber and Naya both could’ve done this song justice, I wish we’d get more variety.

Chris has sung Madonna very well in the past, and I’ll Remember continues his good track record. The musical arrangement was a little too karaoke-y for me, but that’s an issue I have with the original song as well. I think Dianna could’ve done this song well, and it would’ve fit her character’s storyline.

You Get What You Give is one of my favourite songs on the album. I love when Cory gets a song that actually fits his range and style, he sounds really good. I’m glad to hear Chord, he sounded great, as did Jenna, Amber and Mark.

Not the End suits Cory’s voice, and he sounded great. If this wasn’t a Finn solo, I would’ve loved to hear Mark and, in particular, Kevin on this one. It would’ve fit their voices very well.

Glory Days is one of my favourite Bruce songs, and so I’m glad they picked the only two singers I think could’ve pulled it off to sing it. Mark and Cory sound great, I’m glad we’re getting a Finn/Puck duet it would’ve been a missed opportunity to not have these two (best) friends sing together.

I don’t know if it was confirmed or not, but I thought that Forever Young was going to be the Alphaville version, not Rod Stewart’s. As much as I don’t like Will, Matthew sounds great on this song and the lyrics make sense for a teacher saying goodbye to his students. However I would’ve preferred a group performance of Alphaville’s version over this.

3 solos on one album, its not like they are all in the same episode. Sure someone else may have been able to sing the songs well, but likely they will have something to do with her storyline so she sings them. Rachel is the star, that’s sort of the intention of the show. There is an ensemble cast but she is the lead female character/actor.

      • http://twitter.com/w_lowry Will Lowry

3 solos over multiple episodes is a lot. I was hoping that for the rest of the season they would attempt to focus more on each of the seniors. Having Rachel have 3 solos isn’t very encouraging. The intention of the show wasn’t to have Rachel as the main character, but Will, they sort of abandoned that idea after season one and therefore the show has largely been an ensemble cast-based show for most of seasons two and three. My point really is that for an album with Cory, Amber, Naya, Lea, Mark, Dianna, Harry and Chris on the cover, it would’ve been nice to have more of a variety of solos.

If Rachel didn’t have as many songs as she does, I’d stop watching the show. I can’t imagine Glee without her. She is the prime example of everything that Glee is about. If Rachel wasn’t in the story, the Glee club wouldn’t have ever started, and this show would have fizzled after the pilot episode.

I know Brittany isn’t graduating and all. But i wish she would have been in songs on the album. But maybe next year hopefully will hear her an Tina and the rest sing more.

    • Andy

They really need to get around to explaining how Brittany isn’t graduating. She is the SENIOR class president. There was a storyline in season 1 where the cheerios were ineligible for extracurricular activities because of failing Spanish, so if Brittany is still wearing her Cheerios uniform she is still on the team ergo not failing. They addressed Puck’s possibility of failing in the last episode, so if Brittany was facing that they would have mentioned it too. If Finn Hudson is smart enough to graduate and get into college, Brittany sure as hell is too!

Naya did it again!!!! From “I Kissed A Girl”, “Rumour Has It/Someone Like You”, “Santa Baby, “Shake It Out”, “Love You Like A Love Song”, and now “Edge of Glory, SHE NEEDS A FREAKING SOLO ALBUM!!!! She has been rocking this season…. love her voice!!

  • http://twitter.com/dianachin80 diosa

To be honest, it’s more like a Rachel Berry’s album rather than Glee’s graduation album. There are 8 seniors graduating, and Rachel got 3 solos?? What are the rest of the cast? The show is called Glee, not Rachel and her props.

  • jozefd14

The way that Will Shuester sings “Forever Young” feels like a nostalgic feeling back in season one where the last song for that season was “Over The Rainbow” cuz it was right after he got news that the Glee Club would still continue even when they didn’t win regionals.

    • Andy

Also sort of a reverse To Sir With Love from the finale of season 1. I don’t know if I can handle it lol

      • jozefd14

        Exactly….

  • Kato

Who is singing in Good Riddance after Finn’s part? Is that still Finn? I am soo confused :S

    • rachelgrace31

      it’s Blaine!!!! :3

  • Mia_13

Kinda shocked Bruce Springsteen let GLEE sing one of his songs, altho Glory Days sounds pretty good.

  • Aart223

    LOVE  good riddance!!!!!!
