this one actually blew me away! At Bieste, at Rachel, Puck…omg, I’m not gonna lie, this episode really made me cry!

    • jozefd14

I didn’t quite cry but was just shocked.. more shocked over Bieste

    • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

Glee marries comedy and drama quite well.

  • Kate

Wish they’d ended with the song sang to Bieste instead of the pity party for Rachel. Because that was a really beautiful moment.

    • http://twitter.com/w_lowry Will Lowry

It made sense to end it with Rachel’s song. She and Kurt had the main plotline for this episode, so it wouldn’t have made sense to end with a subplot’s conclusion, no matter how touching it was.

      • Kate

Does Glee ever make sense? Not really.

      • Andy

especially considering that after the wonderful message the storyline seemed to deliver, Bieste actually lied to her friends who were worried about her and the kids she was trying to teach a lesson to and went back to Cooter.

        • http://twitter.com/OGCrayon olivegreencrayon

It’s to emphasize how hard it is to leave. Coach Roz went on about her Aunt who blamed herself, made excuses, and lied to her friends and family. Bieste is the live-action version of this.

          • Andy

I understand, I’m just agreeing that the episode did not need to end specifically on a subplot featuring a character who hasn’t been in most of the episodes. The ending was very effective in tying all of the storylines together.

    • http://twitter.com/OGCrayon olivegreencrayon

But the cry also applied to Coach Biest’s situation of staying with her husband.

    • http://twitter.com/ivangatewood Ivan Gatewood

cry was like 10000 times better than shake it out though

      • KristenKranz

        I completely agree.

    • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

I thought Cry was Lea Michele’s best performance/song ever.

  • Andy

I am sobbing from that last scene. That’s all I can say about the episode for now lol

  • Madge

Frankly, I’m upset with both Rachel and Kurt for relying on NYDA as their only option for college.  It’s great that Kurt nailed “Not the Boy Next Door”, but since Rachel choked, she has nothing left.  She wouldn’t have been as devastated about her shortcoming if she knew something else was available, I think.  Don’t get me wrong, flopping under pressure is the WORST–I’ve done it a few times and it sucks–but I think putting so much on the line with such a safe choice was a horrible horrible mistake that led to her own downfall.

    • http://twitter.com/OGCrayon olivegreencrayon

They have safety schools, it was mentioned in another episode.

      • guest

They should’ve made a bigger deal about it, then.

    • Julia Christina

      My thoughts exactly

    • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

Rachel Berry wouldn’t apply to other schools though. She knows what she wants and there are no other possibilities!

    • sy

Thank you so much for saying this. I don’t understand how the two of them could’ve proceeded without a backup plan or any safety schools– it’s not a matter of knowing what she wants and having no other possibilities, it’s just being prepared for a what-if (and a very probable what-if, come to think of it). No one applies to just one college.

  • Arifilato

    I’m Done with it now

  • Erin

I only caught the last 5 mins so if anyone wants to tell me what happened I would love that! Saw “Shake It Out”…so good!

  • Theaterboy1

Wow what an extremely emotional episode. “Cry” is Lea Michele’s BEST performance to date and I love what the girls did with both “Cell Block Tango” and “Shake it Out”! Kurt’s “Not The Boy Next Door” was fun and light and just what the episode needed to add some excitement to it.

  • Billy

I am on the verge of tears. Rachel needs this!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Billy

I literally through myself up off the couch and knelt by the TV when she choked.

    • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

Her pleas as Carmen left the auditorium had me teary eyed.

      • http://twitter.com/Tygridia Tygridia

I NEVER cried with Glee, and I must confess I teared a little…

  • Guest02

i had to laugh at myself because I actually gasped when she ‘choked’ on the dont rain on my parade song lol.

    • Mitchel Clow

Don’t worry, you’re not alone, I did the same! Haha I was just happily singing along, when all of the sudden… “Well, I know they need to cut around songs for the time allotted, but that certainty was an odd one…” lmao

  • Alyssa

Wait, was there a definite grade that Puck got, or do we not know? I looked away and missed it.

    • GeekGirl101

       His paper said, F

      • Guest02

I’m confused. Doesn’t that mean he’s being held back? I thought he was one of the people leaving the show?

        • GeekGirl101

There might be more to it. She could have given the wrong grade, or want to keep him back.

        • http://twitter.com/OGCrayon olivegreencrayon

He could be leaving, but not be graduating. Or be given a make-up, or something.

        • CliveRogan

If Glee were to be realistic for a second, I’d imagine Puck would lie to everyone and tell them he passed, then just leave school without graduating to fulfill his pool cleaning dreams.

        • Edie

Summer School?  Darren Criss talked last year about how cool it would be if Glee saw the kids over the summer. Maybe that’s the “revolutionary” 4th season?

        • http://twitter.com/OGCrayon olivegreencrayon

He can still leave for his business, or try something different.

  • AR

    She deserved this

  • GeekGirl101

Kurt’s audition was WONDERFUL! I loved it. Great episode, it’s nice to see some actually awesomeness on the show. This is one of the best episodes of the season.

  • Arifilato

    It was so stupid

  • http://twitter.com/Annanass777 Anna Di

    Racheeeeeeeel :(

  • notenoughpuff

I feel like what happened with Rachel was completely out of character and wouldn’t have actually happened. I am happy for Kurt though, and even happier he didn’t do Music of the Night because The Phantom of the Opera does not need to be on Glee. Ever.

I’m glad they did what they did with the way Beiste handled things. I think Glee has gotten into this pattern of making a “quick fix by the end of the episode” and things don’t always work that way. Abusive relationships CERTAINLY don’t happen that way. I’m worried about Beiste as if she were a real person because she’s actually being treated like a real person who is in real danger. I think it’s going to have to be something big like her ending up in the hospital before the others find out she was lying. (Because really, Denise Beiste? Who would actually fall for that?)

Other notes I’d like to say are that I feel bad for Puck but I have a feeling that one test wouldn’t have been the “make it or break it” test for him. He JUST now decided he wanted to graduate, and even though the vast majority of public schools are terrible, and the one on Glee especially, it still wouldn’t be that easy for him to pass.

    • Guest02

I suppose it could be out of character but I’m kinda glad if she doesn’t go to nyada with kurt. You always hear those stories of people failing auditions, tests or acceptances into schools but they end up becoming famous. I really hope glee goes that route with rachel because not everyone has to go to a school like this imaginary nyada to be successful.

      • http://twitter.com/OGCrayon olivegreencrayon

But also show people that dreams don’t always come true… And can become successful after finding new dreams.

      • guest

I think perhaps maybe someone semi important-like maybe an agent or a dean of another school- will discover Rachel when she sings her solo during Nationals.

    • http://twitter.com/OGCrayon olivegreencrayon

I think, in regards to Rachel’s audition, she knew that song, definately. But no matter how well you know a song, if you think about it too much, which I bet she was, then you’re much more likely to screw up. Or choke, which this is the definition of the word.

      • http://twitter.com/ivangatewood Ivan Gatewood

but it’s completely out of character. She wasn’t nervous before she went on stage, and she hasn’t really ever been nervous when performing in front of an audience (regionals, nationals, etc.)  I just don’t get it.

        • Andy

It is possible to be nervous and not know that you’re nervous until you are in the middle of something going wrong though, it’s happened to me before and it sucks. Also, she wasn’t really nervous when she started, she was going strong and just flubbed the words, whether it was from overthinking or nerves or the stress of the situation idk. That was what shook her though and her second chance she was freaking from the fact that it happened so she messed up again.

        • Kayla

Trust this from a theatre kid: just because you’re not nervous BEFORE the fact does not mean you’re sweating more than a pig DURING it. It’s not out of character for someone to be so nervous as to choke on stage (Even Rachel), and besides that this audition was a little more important than Regionals or Nationals. Her college career depended on this, her entire dream that she’d been working up to (at least in Rachel’s one-track mind).

          • http://www.facebook.com/darthevil99 Thomas Bell

I totally agree, I have choked on stage before myself, it’s not out of character for someone having an audition that can change their life!

        • CliveRogan

There’s also a difference between performing at regionals or nationals
and performing to a woman who at that moment has your entire life in
          their hands.

Also, did you not watch it before the audition.  She went into that performance on the back of Kurt being praised for taking a risk.  You could see from her face during Kurts audition that all she could think about was whether or not she should have done the same.  I wasn’t remotely suprised that she choked.

        • http://twitter.com/OGCrayon olivegreencrayon

She’s now singing for her future (her life, in her mind), and in front of one of her idols. Nationals is important, but is nothing is comparison to this. And the amazing advice she just gave to Kurt fell through and was wrong, so she could have been second guessing herself, you could see it on her face when Kurt changed his song and succeeded.

    • KristenKranz

I actually really liked how they set up Rachel’s choking on stage. She was overconfident to the point that she walked in there expecting to wow everyone & she just… choked. It happens more than you think, and it really doesn’t have much to do with nerves either. Sometimes you just screw it up.

    • guest

I don’t think it’s out on character. I think it’s BECAUSE of the fact that Rachel knew and sang that song since age 3-she was probably running on autopilot that made her screw up. . Things that become automatic-like a locker combo or even tying shoes, if you stop to really think about what you’re doing-not just going through the motions, you forget how to do it. At least that’s happens to me.

Also, she tried to mentally and physically prepare herself and then gets thrown a curveball because then the woman who watches her audition is someone she really admires. Rachel doesn’t always do well with the unexpected. However, I agree with everything you said about Coach Bieste.

  • Nikki

Dead beat dads, abusive husbands, audition failures, and potential loss of a diploma for one of the characters. This episode was one emotional rollercoaster. I hope to see more about Coach in the future. I want her to leave her husband, and it saddens me to see that she is still with him. Lea Michele gave an amazing performance at the close of the show. What would be really sweet, but I know would never happen in a million years because both their characters are straight is a Sue/Coach pairing. It would be sweet to see them raise a kid together.

  • mmm

Kurt was more than awesome. He rocked the song. Got into NYADA. He deserved it. I want to see him growing! Hell yeah!

    • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

I wonder if he’ll get in to NYADA but find it too overwhelming? I mean we saw his reaction to the other Kurt-like guys in the season premiere!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1229430522 Kiara Rubin

I know exactly how Rachel feels because I have gone through that and she even made me cry at the end with her last song. :’( Man, she was so good and of course Kurt was also in his audition.

    • Mitchel Clow

Lea Michelle really shines on Kelly Clarkson songs like this one! ie. “My Life Would Suck Without You” and “Stronger”!

      • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

        Good point, Mitch!

      • Andy Tumblr

Not to burst any bubbles but Stronger was the TroubleTones song, Lea didn’t sing in that one, I believe it was Naya, Amber and possibly Heather on lead for that one. But I agree, she handles Kelly Clarksom songs beautifully.

  • Lbrandon18

Is it me, or are the teachers at McKinley just a little to open with their personal lives? To the children and students I mean.

    • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

Is it me or would the cops be called if there were students hanging out in a classroom at 3am unsupervised? LOL

  • http://www.facebook.com/amber.carney3 Amber Carney

Well this episode proved that Glee doesn’t need half of the episode to be about Blaine to be amazing!

The Puck storyline was so cute. I love the fact that all of the glee guys are finally bros.  I wouldn’t call it a bromance, but really good friends.  Yay. The Rain in Spain was ADORABLE! And I was so sad when he got an F :[ Also, the voice-overs in this episode were really good, the Rachel one in the beginning was cute and so was Puck’s while he was taking the test.

Kurt’s Audition!!! INCREDIBLE! I heard the song on First Listen Friday and was totally convinced he was getting in, but the performance made it even better.  The gold pants….mhmm :) I kind of like that they are repeating outfits…the dresses in this scene and Blaine’s outfit in The Rain in Spain.  It makes it seem more realistic…seeing as most high school students don’t have a brand new outfit everyday (unless you’re Kurt Hummel)

Rachel’s Audition….never would’ve guessed that’s what was going to happen, but I guess it’s not too far fetched.  The audition of a lifetime would cause me enough stress to make me choke in front of the judge!! I don’t like how it sounded exactly the same as the first time she sang it in season 1 though…

Finally, the Beiste storyline. I don’t really know a whole lot about the domestic violence situation, but to me it seemed like she was being a little harsh leaving Cooter after he hit her when he was drunk.  I would give him a second chance, too.  But I guess that’s where the issue comes from…women giving men a second chance and ending up hurt worse.  So I don’t really know where I stand on this, but I think it’s what I would’ve done.

PS. Never brush after you gel. Disaster. And sometimes add sweat or a splash of water to reactivate the gel for a completely new look <3 ….and the Darren fans go wild!

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/5HZXVTL3DATMN2NIS7HB23S43A Melanie

      One hit is enough!!

I have been in that position and I left after the first hit, though admittedly I should have left way before that.

      • http://www.facebook.com/amber.carney3 Amber Carney

Good for you! That has to be really hard for a lot of women though, which is why I think the Beiste storyline isn’t over the top..it’s probably realisitically what happens

  • Matthew

I knew Rachel was going to fall apart. I was just really hoping she wouldn’t.

  • Septima

Definitely one of the season’s strongest episodes. It was hilarious (thanks to the Sue-Roz rivalry) but also emotionally complex, and it had great songs. “Shake it Out” and “Cry” were beautiful. The episode ended with three tragedies, and I still loved it! The good-old-fashioned storytelling – which vanished in the second season when most episodes had a theme – reminds me of the glorious Season 1. It’s good to see Glee is trying to return to its awesome, soulful roots. Quinn’s in a wheelchair, Puck seems to have no pool-cleaning business or diploma, Beiste is in an abusive relationship, Rachel has given up hope, and prom looks like trouble. Bring on the drama!

  • jozefd14

I really really hope nothing bad happens to Beaste after this episode… it’s still up in the air if anything else happens between her and her husband.

    • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

Word on the street is that this isn’t the end of her storyline.

      • jozefd14

I hope its a happy storyline.. I’ll be pretty sad if she has the possibility of getting beaten worse or maybe killed… but who knows it’s glee lol

      • http://twitter.com/Red_Fiasco Cris

John Thrasher, representative of the word on the street!

  • http://about.me/dshana Shana Debusschere

Wow, great episode! Such strong performances by Lea Michele and Dot Marie Jones! Shake it Out was beautiful! Kurt’s audition amazing! Sue cracked me up (Black Sue/Tent) Oh and poor Puck!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/katgiambruno Kat Giambruno

The boys’ version of “The Rain in Spain” might be the lamest thing I have ever seen on television. Puck singing “School’s Out” is a close second. And even though I would have preferred to see Kurt sing something from Phantom I am glad to see he isn’t in Rachel’s shadow for a change. She gets almost every solo and is the star of that glee club. “Choking” once in a while might help her build some character and humility.

  • Jham40

Kurt was AMAZING!! And for once, Blaine was there right by his side for every second. Rachel – omg really?? She has been singing that song since she was 4 and she did it on the fly at regionals and forgets the words?? Bit far fetched but made for good story lol

    • Jham40

Rain in Spain – horrendous …….. truely horrific

    • http://twitter.com/OGCrayon olivegreencrayon

The more pressure put on the situation and the more you over-think it (which she was doing), the more likely you are to screw up. Hence the title, Choke, that’s the definition of the word.

      • Jham40

Also just maybe she got spun out by Kurt switching it up at the last minute and tossing his ‘safe song’ for a totally awesome performance (which she discouraged him doing) and getting a rave review from Carmen about it.  Maybe she did ‘choke’ on over thinking (totally rachel thing to do btw)

  • Elly

Shake it out and Cry made this episode one of my favorites this season :D

    • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

Yes this was definitely one of my favorites of the season as well. Glee has had amazing, solid episodes since 3×14.

  • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

Give Dot Marie Jones every single award on the planet.

    • BoyOnFire

      John Thrasher, marry me? lol

      • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

        I will marry you, BoyOnFire!

        • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

But only if you have some big dramatic proposal involving a pool, 20 singing students, and the ability to walk on water.

          • BoyOnFire

            Done, and done.

          • http://twitter.com/Tygridia Tygridia

            AND a white pimp suit???

  • http://www.facebook.com/iDomi Domi Ed

    OMG!
    This episode was amazing.

    I cried!
Shake it Out really got to me. Their voices were amazing (Tina got a song) and so beautiful.
It was just amazing. Beast’s whole story line was really powerful and I cried.

Rachel. I knew she was going to choke but it was still the most painful thing to watch her break down when she was asking for another chance.
Lea is truly an amazing performer. She was born to sing any and every song by Barbara…
I always think she looks like she might cry every time she sings but this time she blew me away and I could feel her pain and I just wanted to cry with her.
Ugly Pretty Cry Singing. Who else does that?

Omg, The Rain in Spain was weird and….ugh. Reminded me of an after school special with a band of hot guys.

I did feel really bad for Puck getting an F. :[
His Schools Out for Summer was…ok. It is such a classic song that is perfect for the last day of school and…I was kinda overwhelmed.

    Cell Block Tango was awful.
I have never seen the real play but I saw the movie. Its one of my favorites and…not only did I think this version was bad, it was awkward.
Totally inappropriate for High School to sing. But I suppose that was the point….

Not the Boy Next Door. Kurt KILLED it.
I just have nothing but praise for his performance.
(just don’t touch Phantom of The Opera. Ever)

    Sue was hilarious, as always.

    This episode was awesome.

    • jennifer_dances

Definitely agree about Rachel’s performance. I start crying because it was so heartbreaking to watch.

    • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

Yeah I’m glad Tina is on one of the best songs of the season.

    • Amber Carney

I agree with the whole don’t touch Phantom, but the clip we heard of Kurt singing it was really good I thought! I don’t know why they didn’t have him record that one…or why it hasn’t been released if they did!

      • http://twitter.com/OGCrayon olivegreencrayon

Listening to it was beautiful…. but watching it felt utterly awkward!

  • Dlmarvin05

This was a very powerful episode, from all sides.
And I’m happy to see that the High School finally seemed to get it’s attendance straightened out with all those missing students. I was really beginning to worry that they’d been eaten by Brittany’s unicorns.

  • KristenKranz

Lea Michele/Rachel Berry blows my socks off every time. Cry was absolutely spectacular. She really killed it. I’m not gonna lie, when I saw the trailer last week, I thought her choking was gonna be a dream sequence & then Rachel was gonna go off the deep end about how she could screw up her whole life if she messed up this one performance… I like the way they did it much better. She was just a little too overconfident & choked. I really felt for her. I was really hoping that Finn would be recording “Cry” from the back of the auditorium & would send it in as a video audition or something, but… I guess we will see what comes next for Ms. Rachel Berry…

    • Mitchel Clow

Ooo good theory about Finn, although I think we’re going to see that type of storyline with Mercedes’ “Disco Inferno.” They probably didn’t want to repeat storylines =]

    • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

I still feel like we’re going to find out Mercedes’ video has like 4 million views, and she’s going to get signed by a record label in LA!

      • Jen

        OOO…I like this!  Go Mercedes!

      • KristenKranz

I agree, which is another reason why no one was in the auditorium for this RB performance :(  I would like them to wrap up Mercedes storyline in a happy way though (she is one of the graduating seniors that they haven’t talked about bringing back, right?)

  • Broadwaybound721

I am so glad Rachel got rejected on Glee tonight. She needs to know what it feels like to be stopped in the middle of a college audition because they’ve “heard enough”. Feel the pain Rachel!!! I went through all those feelings for like eight different schools. And that last song she sang! Where was that song four weeks ago when Boston rejected me? Also it’s freaking me out that everything in our senior year has matched up on glee: the musical, college auditions, and now prom and graduation!

    • http://hypable.com John Thrasher

      Projecting much!? :P

  • Kennedy Lane

This episode was great. It felt like season one. The only problem I had was how the whole domestic violence thing was handled in the end. ‘Oh, Bieste’s giving him a second chance’ Great, glee your anti-female reputation proceeds you. And is Quinn ‘dead’ again? That theory about her being killed in the accident but then the writers back-tracking for a texting and driving ad is oh so possible.

    • guest

I don’t see how you can try to imply that Glee is anti-female. Bieste’s husband is a sociopath and her behavior is very typical of many, many women and men who are being abused. The issue is still ongoing. It will be resolved but not all at once in a single episode. That would not be realistic at all.

  • Luca

I feel like I must have watched a different episode from the rest of you or something… :o I loved the humor in this ep, but otherwise I thought it was somewhat mediocre (I especially disliked the Beiste SL), though I’ll reserve final judgement until I’ve rewatched it.

  • CliveRogan

Best episode of Glee in ages.  It completely subverted everything I’d come to expect from the show.  It was nice for the show to acknowledge that you can’t make everything better just by singing about it.

Also, it was great that Tina got to sing.  I’d forgotten she even could as she hasn’t even tried since the time she burst into tears half way through.

  • http://twitter.com/elanorosavan Beth

I hope the ratings do well this week and reflect how good this episode was. All the storylines were fantastic- Glee really is on a winning streak!

  • Celia

Tina darling, it’s ERNIE. Not BERNIE.

  • Saskia17

Absolutely loved Shake it Out! It was sung so beautifully by everyone. I’ve been quite impressed with these last few episodes, it seems to be going back a bit more to what season 1 was like. Can’t wait for these last few episodes!

  • Matilda

Found the Bieste storyline wasn’t nearly as powerful as it could have been if the reason for the abuse hadn’t been as unrealistic and silly as her not doing the dishes (and her seeing it as her obligation?!) It didn’t ring true at all…

    • Mia

I don’t find it unrealistic at all. Her upsetting Cooter or whatever his name is plus he had been drinking does not lead to good. Really, abuse can start by any minuscule stimulus!

      • Jen

I agree w/ Mia.  Sometimes it’s just some little thing that can set someone off.  Trust me.  My step dad hit my Mom b/c she didn’t put a new roll of toilet paper when it was out.  It can just be the little things.

  • Laura J

So gutted Puck failed his test!

  • Ali

Oh gosh… that was just, wow. Loved Kurts performance, was slightly terrified when he was about to sing Phantom (no, just..no) but he killed Boy Next Door. And those last moments of Rachel pleading for another chance gutted me, but they’ll get her to New York. They have to. Or at least it opens up yet another chance for some Roxanne-inspired switching in Season Four? :)
Hated Cell Block Tango. Santana sounded great but I agree with the rest, inappropriate and just wrong on every level. Is anyone else loving the little one-liners they’re giving Blaine at the moment? Darren Criss does them so well — his comment when Kurt suggested more candles was just beautiful.
    Very strong episode.

  • Andy

Lea said at the Glee panel last night that screwing up the words to DROMP or while performing in general is one of her biggest fears, and that she called Dante during the tour telling him that she was going to screw up and what would she do etc. So if Lea Michele gets that worried about messing up that song, I think it’s reasonable to believe that Rachel could mess it up or would secretly worry about that, so her “choke” wasn’t that out of character.

She should ask Darren for some advise, he’s a pro on making messing ups look awesome!

I hated ” The Rain in Spain”! They wrecked it! Now, even more reason to not watch Glee.

Poor Rachel, I just hope she thought of a Plan B. Did she ever mention applying to another university. If not I can already see Emma with her pamphlet ” We are sad to inform that you have not been accepted to…” and Rachel not knowing what to do. She should have applied to that New York university, or maybe she did? You know what could happen? Rachel gets in and Kurt doesn’t.

Puck… I found his attitude inappropriate. He tried to bribe his teacher, he lied to his friends, and he still fails? If he had just put a little more effort in. Then again, why is he still on the football team? Don’t you have to have good grades to stay on ? It will be interesting to see if Shuster steps in or if he even graduates. I think he would do well in university, he’s just too lazy.

Did those girls understand what was meant by abusive relationship? I don’t like the superficiality of Glee. Sure the girls understood when Coach Beaste talked to them, yet they could have gone deeper. One of them , or Sue, could have stopped by Beaste’s house and find Cooter still there. The first song just made me gag and disgusted. Watching high school students, do such grotesque moves , is no way to be role model to younger children.

TuesdayNext: First, Puck “still on the football team” isn’t relevant or apparent, since it’s May and not football season. Second, it’s “Beiste,” not “Beaste.” Third, if you’re looking for “more reasons to not watch Glee” (or split infinitives), then why not simply not watch Glee, and also not rant against it in reader forums? Besides, of course they wrecked The Rain in Spain–that’s what punk rock is about.

Sorry, that I don’t know when the football season is on.
      Sorry, if I mispelled Beiste.
I was giving my opinion about the show, like everyone else. I didn’t find that this episode lived up to its reputation.
Oh, and about those split infinitives: Have you ever tried swapping between two languages constantly?
I hope you have a pleasant day.

How am I ranting against it? It is my opinion about this episode. I did mention not wanting to watch Glee anymore, since I found the last few episodes a let down. They don’t really stick in my memory as previous episodes do.
Also, I was not aware of the punk rock genre. I was just shocked to see The Rain in Spain, one of my favourite musical pieces, being interpreted in this manner. Aren’t there a few songs that Glee has done, where you wish they hadn’t done it that way?

I discovered one good theory in one of the Glee performances from tonight’s episode in the comments where they said the following:
I think the judges from nyada will be at the nationals. They will hear her sing and she will get into nyada but that is just my guess =) – guitarflowerxx

that seems like a good theory…

I loved Kurt’s performance of “Not The Boy Next Door”.  Soooo good!  Even though I am not a huge Rachel fan, I left so bad for her when she choked, especially when she started pleading for another chance.  :(  ”Cell Block Tango” was very inappropriate (which Sue and Roz pointed out) and “The Rain in Spain” was pretty awful.  I loved “Shake It Out” and “Cry”.

Totally inappropriate, I know, but I LOL’d at Sam saying to Finn “you finally lost those five pounds”.  I don’t know why it made me laugh but the way Sam says it was hilarious.

I mostly liked how they handled the Coach Beiste storyline. Domestic abuse is an important subject, and I’m glad they included it on Glee and made the often young public confront the problem. And I really liked Sharon talking about her problems to the girls. Quite often I hate the adults on the show exposing their problems to the teens, because a) isn’t there a line one should not cross as a teacher? and b) don’t they have adult friends? But here it wasn’t about her needing the girls to know for her own benefit. It was the educator in her pushing through a horrible situation and hoping that it will give the girls a fighting chance should they ever find themselves in her shoes.
What worries me is that there will probably be no follow up in the next few episodes, like with other subjects (Karofsky’s suicide springs to mind). That would cheapen the severity of the issue, and the realism established by Coach returning to her husband.

The whole Rachel situation creates a lot of mixed feelings for me. I feel bad for her, because I suffer from stagefright. But on the other hand I’m happy that she choked; to realise that talent and determination isn’t enough can only help her. She has always been the star in New Directions, and she has acted accordingly diva-esque.
But there are a lot of talented people outside McKinley, and realising that while she is talented she is not Gods gift to mankind can only help her if she takes it as a chance to grow.
Also, she needs to realise that not getting into NYADA does not mean she will never become a Broadway star. But she is a teenager, so her behavior is justified.
I think she choked at least partially because the judge complimented Kurt’s risky choice. The advice she had given him had been flawed, and she probably was asking herself at least subconsciously if playing it safe with ‘Don’t rain on my parade’ was the right decision.

These episodes since they’ve come back from the break have been amazing! Just really well written. Poor Coach Beiste, and they handled the storyline realistically in that most domestic abuse victims DO go back after a beating. It takes them a while to face up to the fact that they can’t change the other person.

On a lighter note, it looks like Kurt or Finn spread the word to the guys that they need to include Blaine in their ‘bro’ group so that he’ll have friends next year when Kurt’s gone. Also, did anyone else notice during the cramming session that when Puck complained about the lessons being useless, Blaine said to Puck in a strange way, “Just wipe it from your memory tomorrow, after the test.” Does this indicate Blaine’s method of repressing his bad past memories of abuse that the fandom has speculated on, or is this just a normal comeback remark to someone who doesn’t want to study? Hmmm, just something to consider.

Watch Whoopi Goldberg (her character, I mean) be at Nationals, see Rachel, and reconsider her for NYADA, so that this whole thing means nothing in the end except for a very mellow, angsty Rachel for a few episodes and a few amazing sad songs. Just watch.
