With classic films like Dirty Dancing and Footloose getting the remake treatment recently, the original movie Sandy, Olivia Newton-John, speculated about the possibility of a Grease remake and suggested Taylor Swift for the role of Sandy.

Speaking to HLN’s A.J. Hammer on “Showbiz Tonight,” Newton-John also said her daughter would be good for the part if the remake were to happen.

“I’m sure they’ll try [a remake], and I think it would probably do well because people would be curious,” Newton-John told HLN’s A.J. Hammer. “But there’s something about the originals… that people still want to see. But I’m sure they’ll do it, and they’ll do an updated version, and it’ll be great. Lately, I’ve thought Taylor Swift could probably [play Sandy], because she’s very talented. And my daughter, I’ve always thought she could.”

How do you feel about a Grease remake? Would Taylor Swift be a good Sandy?

I’ve never been a huge fan of Grease or Taylor Swift, but I actually don’t think it’s that horrible a suggestion. Though she wouldn’t be my first choice, it’s not half bad.

That’s a role i definitely think Taylor could pull off, especially with Olivia’s support!

I’m pretty sure Olivia is the only person who could see her daughter playing the role.

I don’t know— she does look the part but would she really pull the end part- the  ”bad girl in tight leather smoking cigarettes?”

when her music career is based on being The opposite?

No. Taylor Swift can’t act.  Period. End.

They need to stop trying to put her in movies. Thankfully she wasn’t cast as Eponine, please don’t cast her as Sandy.

  • Hermione Granger

It’s funny that there’s so much fuss about this. It’s like if they asked Daniel Radcliffe who should play Harry Potter in a remake and he said Justin Bieber (well if he could be stopped from aging) and everyone gets all riled up–but it’s not like it’s actually going to happen! This is just someone’s opinion, someone who probably wouldn’t have much say in any casting for a future remake that might not even happen. RELAX.

I can’t really say whether, in a hypothetical universe where she actually wanted to do this, whether it would be good or not. I do think that she acted very well in CSI (and that random Twilight spoof on SNL), Valentine’s Day was supposed to be stupid and fake, and that’s all anybody can say about her acting abilities.

Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor, Taylor Swift as Sandy? What are these people thinking?

Oh my god, NO! First she was almost Eponine and now Sandy?!

I don’t think any remake could be better than the original Grease, no matter who is cast. Also, I love Taylor Swift, but I just don’t think her voice would be strong enough for this.

    no thank you.

    Anybody else could.

Enough with trying to get Taylor Swift into movies.  She sucks as a singer and I bet she sucks as actress too

Absolutely not. And changing the time period Grease originally took place in? Are $%^&* nuts? Morons.

  • Victoria

They need to STOP REMAKING THINGS!!!!!  All they do is ruin everything and upset us poor fans of the originals!!!  Changing the time period would be absolutely horrible as well!!!  Modern Grease would just be like every other teen movie/show right now. The fact that it’s the 50′s definitely gave the film charm and wit that it wouldn’t have otherwise.

In my opinion, they should STOP remaking every successful movie in history. Instead, they should take a bad film that flopped, (Due to poor cast, poor writing, poor budget, etc) and remake THAT film to make it into a success. A Grease Remake would NEVER compare to the original. Don’t waste your time.
