Adam Sandler’s latest project, That’s My Boy, co-starring Andy Samberg and James Caan has been rated R for “crude sexual content throughout, nudity, pervasive language and some drug use.” This is Sandler’s first R-rated film made by his Happy Madison production company since 2003′s Anger Management.

In the meantime, he has made Funny People and Reign Over Me outside of his brand, both of which were rated R. Since most of Sandler’s audience has consisted of young teenagers over the past few years, as the quailty of his films has somewhat gone downhill, will this dramatically affect the film’s takings?

R-rated comedies have become more and more successful in recent years, with examples of smash-hits including The Hangover films and Bridesmaids. Will you be encouraged or discouraged to see That’s My Boy because of its stronger rating, or will you even forgive Sandler for Jack and Jill which broke records at the 2012 Golden Raspberry Awards.

That’s My Boy is released on Father’s Day.

I enjoyed Jack and Jill.  I have seen all the older Sandler films and yes, I understand why it did not do so good with critic ratings and all that but it made me laugh.  I won’t be going to theater for this newest movie but I will rent it.  I also feel that his films have been going downhill but he is getting older and I feel like he’s trying to stay young or something with the films.

I also enjoyed Jack and Jill…but Just Go With It was a mess!

I used to love this guy, couple of years ago I’d watch anything with his name on it. And while I still love vintage Sandler, and have a soft spot for Big Daddy and 50 First Dates, a lot of his recent outings – including and almost especially Happy Madison productions fronted by or co-starring Kevin James – have been, or just looked, awful. I hope this will be a return to form. Remember Little Nicky? Not a brilliant movie by any means, but WHAT A RIOT. I miss good old Sandler.

Honestly the first Sandler movie that has looked decent in a decade too.

Whenever I hear of a movie starring Adam Sandler, I run the other way.
