Deadline has learned that Lionsgate has purchased the rights to The Glass Castle: A Memoir, by famed gossip columnist Jeannette Walls, with the studio eyeing Jennifer Lawrence to star.
This would, of course, reunite Lawrence with the studio that cast her in The Hunger Games. Lionsgate is looking to recapture that success by putting Lawrence in the role of a strong, female character.
Writes Deadline:
Critically well received when it was published in 2005, Walls’ book was a surprise because it focused on her difficult childhood with her ‘dysfunctional but vibrant’ family. It was on The New York Times bestseller list for over 250 weeks, the longest for any memoir.
Marti Noxon, who has written for such TV shows as Buffy, Mad Men, and Glee will pen the the screenplay, with Gil Netter (The Blind Side) producing. Are you excited?
