In a message to fans over the weekend, Dr. Dre clarified that the Tupac “Hologram”  that performed at Coachella and went viral when the video hit the web was created for the music festival only, not as a trial run for a tour.

“It was strictly for Coachella, get it right,” Dr. Dre said in a backstage video from Coachella. “I want to get rid of all the rumors out there. This was not done for a tour.”

He didn’t rule out the possibility of a tour, however, adding, “If a tour happens, we’ll see.”

What did you think of the “hologram” (more accurately described as a 2-D image) that performed with Snoop Dog at Coachella?

I think we’ll end up seeing a tour of this. Even if it’s just 1 tour. You look on YouTube the day the video went viral…by the next day almost every video in the Most Viewed list on YouTube was of the hologram Tupac. I’m willing to bet the record company will be willing to back up an air craft carrier full of money for them to do it for a tour.

Now that I think of it I dunno how I’d feel about them using a dead celebrity’s hologram to make more money.

That was so cool. I personally think they did Tupac an honor by showing how much of an influence he had/has. I wouldn’t want to see this on a mass scale, but it would  be really wonderful to see performers like MJ and Elvis at special events like this.
