‘New Super Mario Bros. 2′ announced for 3DS

Nintendo has announced it is bringing New Super Mario Bros. 2 to the 3DS in Japan and North America come August.

The publisher made the announcement during its Nintendo Direct conference. Few details were revealed other than the fan-favorite Power Leaf power-up will be making a return in the installment.

“This all-new, side-scrolling adventure features Mario, Luigi and all your fave characters from the Mario series,” says Nintendo.

A new 2D Mario title was teased by Nintendo earlier this year.

I don’t understand why nintendo is releasing all of its title games solely on the 3DS nowadays. They have clearly given up on the Wii, even though “New Super Mario Bros 2″, “Paper Mario”, “Ocarina of Time”, and other such games would be HUGE sellers for the Wii. At this rate, it seems pointless for the WiiU to exist at all, if nintendo is restricting all of its big-seller games to its new favorite handheld. Way to go nintendo, you have made sure that your next console is going to be a complete bust.

  the wiiU isn’t even out yet. how do you know they wont’ continue to release titles on the wiiU?

  You can already play hundreds of old Nintendo games by buying them in the Wii shop. So while it would be nice to have an updated wii compatible version of Ocarina of Time, it’s not completely necessary as you can already play it.
  
  Also, there are a huge amount of games that you can play on the Wii but not the 3DS. And I imagine the reason they’re not releasing a whole lot of games for the Wii these days is because they’re saving them for the Wii U.

where is the main game I want Mario Galaxy or mario galaxy part 3 why would I want to buy this one? its going back not forward

  Really? A new Galaxy game would have to be radically different to make it fresh. Besides, the 3DS already has a 3D game (Super Mario 3D Land), so it appeals to everyone.
