TMZ is reporting that legendary television host and producer Dick Clark has died at the age of 82.

Clark died of a “massive” heart attack this morning, according to his publicist. In his final years his only television presence was during New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. The show was hosted by Ryan Seacrest following Clark’s stroke in 2004, but Clark continued to do the midnight countdown itself.

Below you can watch his final appearance on the show December 31, 2011.

Below is a clip of Dick Clark interviewing John Travolta in 1976 on American Bandstand:

Thanks to TMZ.

Well, this wasn’t the kind of news I wanted to see today. :(

He had a long life, and made an impact on television. He’ll definitely be missed.

I grew up watching him say the countdown every single New Year’s Eve.  He was such an inspiration, and he will most definitely be missed.  :(

This is so sad. Maybe they’ll have him do the countdown as a hologram? I mean that in all sincerity and respect!

Oh my god! I clicked on Hypable while I was procrastinating on my homework hoping to find something more interesting than my AP reviews…I wasn’t expecting to find this! I can’t imagine a New Years without Dick Clark counting it down for me…aw. RIP, he lived a long life :)

This saddens me so much. He was fantastic at his work and was a truly great man. New Years won’t be the same without him.
