Did you think Hershel was going to bite the bullet during The Walking Dead season 2? You weren’t the only one – the show producers were considering it.

At a TV panel in Los Angeles, show producer Greg Mazzara revealed that they were planning on killing off the character at some point in season 2.

So why didn’t they? He explains:

“[But] we were just stepping over a body; it felt too violent, too gratuitous.”

If he were to have died, we presume his other family members would’ve taken over ownership of the house. Or would Rick have tried to get some control?

Do you think he’ll end up dying in season 3?

Thanks to The Hollywood Reporter.

    *Spoilers*
I’m very surprised that he didn’t die in the finale. I was expecting him to go down with the farm.

    *MORE SPOILERS*

I hope he dies just like he did in the comic. So tragic and gut-wrenching. But based on what we know and the timeline and pace of the show, I’m guessing it’ll be around Season 4 if they follow the book precisely. But with this show, you never know, and I’m totally open to surprises!

I don’t really see a reason to keep him around anymore.

      Even Beth. Or T-Dog.

If he does die, I’d love to see him help fight off a bunch of walkers or prisoners in a massive battle. You think he’s going to die in the fight, but doesn’t. Just when you think all is fine, he has a heart attack from the stress of the situation. It would take the viewers by surprise.
