There has recently been a great degree of concern amongst movie fans on the rating for the long-awaited Prometheus, with many fearing that Fox may cut the film in order to secure a lower rating. While speaking at a press conference in Paris, Ridley Scott tried his best to calm fans’ fears.
While the MPAA hasn’t yet seen the film, a lot of Alien fans have been hoping that it will be R-rated in order to stay in line with the tone and content of the original. However, it was reported last summer that Fox wanted a PG-13 rating to bag itself a more box office-friendly movie. It seems that the studio has now backed down on its original intentions, as the director told fans that the theatrical release will be his cut of the film.
The cut that you’re gonna see in cinemas…it’s always the director’s cut, really… In this instance, you got a pretty good version here, pretty good cut. We’re running at about — I think without the end titles, which normally run about four to five minutes — we’re running one hour, fifty-nine minutes and change. It’s very tight, it’s what it should be.

It’s really encouraging to know that the film is keeping its artistic integrity despite the hype and blockbuster potential.
What rating do you think the film will achieve?
