Variety has learned that Max Landis, scribe of the highly successful sci-fi Chronicle – has sold his original pitch, Woogles, to Timur Bekmambetov’s banner Bazelevs. Landis and Bekmabetov will produce the “edgy family adventure” feature, with Teen Wolf scribes Nick Antosca and Ned Vizzini writing the script, based on a story by Landis.
According to Variety:
Bazelevs’ VFX arm, CGF, will develop the visual effects for “Woogles.” CGF also worked on the vfx for “Chronicle,” which employed a number of post houses around the globe. “Woogles” fits the company’s mandate of developing visually inventive projects concurrently with the script. Bazelevs’ indie development fund will finance.
“We are very excited to bring Max, Nick, and Ned’s vision to life,” Bekmambetov said. “Bazelevs considers itself a place for great, young talent to grow, and we look forward to working with this team.”
Landis recently signed on to pen a Chronicle sequel and has several other projects in development, including Amnesty, which Ron Howard is set to direct for Universal. What do you think?
