Watch: ‘True Blood’ season 5 promo with first footage!

As promised, tonight HBO premiered the first footage from True Blood season five.

You can watch the 30-second preview here!

Many of True Blood’s main players are seen in the teaser. We also get a glimpse of Reverend Steve Newlin’s return. The show gets started this June!

I’m noticing a definite lack of Tara. As someone who hasn’t read the books, do you think they’re pulling a Dexter and departing from the plotlines (in part or whole) of the books?

  I read all the books, they are definitely departing, or have already departed. For example, the Authority is not even mentioned in the books, Russell has a fairly small role, and some of the characters are completely the opposite from the show…
  And I just realized that Sookie might be burying Debbie…?

    I don’t think so, because the girl he is kissing has darker hair than Jessica. I think it might be Nora, she is his ‘sister’. Plus, Jessica has a new love interest this season, that Claude guy.

This is amazing. Come sooner True Blood! I’m so glad I didn’t drop if after season 3. I loved Russel, but everything else in that season was a mess. I’m glad he’s back, and it *sounds* life from the quote it’s going to be the main focus. YES!
