Speaking at the Grand Opening of the Harry Potter Studio Tour, actor Tom Felton (who played Draco Malfoy in the films) spoke about how Harry Potter helped spark excitement around Twilight and The Hunger Games.
They said to Entertainment Wise:
Asked how he felt about ‘The Hunger Games’, he said: “It’s a credit to Jo [Rowling]. I remember when i was 10, reading wasn’t the thing to be seen doing during on your lunch break or after school. She single-handedly changed that.
“At the end of seven books, lots of readers wanted to try something else – ‘Twilight’, ‘The Hunger Games’ and hopefully lots more.”
Evanna Lynch, who played Luna Lovegood, said: “‘The Hunger Games’ is great. When people compare [it to ‘Harry Potter’], they’re such different worlds. But it is a tribute to ‘Harry Potter’ for setting the bar.”
Do you agree with Lynch and Felton about Potter sparking other fandom frenzies?
