A short, red-band teaser trailer for A History of Violence director David Cronenber’s upcoming film, Cosmopolis, starring Robert Pattinson, has been released!

The film follows a multimillionaire (Pattinson) on a 24-hour odyssey across Manhattan. Watch the NSFW teaser below:

Here’s a longer synopsis of the book the film is based on:

DeLillo skates through a day in the life of a brilliant and precocious New Economy billionaire in this monotone 13th novel, a study in big money and affectlessness. As one character remarks, 28-year-old Eric Packer “wants to be one civilization ahead of this one.” But on an April day in the year 2000, Eric’s fortune and life fall apart. The story tracks him as he traverses Manhattan in his stretch limo. His goal: a haircut at Anthony’s, his father’s old barber. But on this day his driver has to navigate a presidential visit, an attack by anarchists and a rapper’s funeral. Meanwhile, the yen is mounting, destroying Eric’s bet against it. The catastrophe liberates Eric’s destructive instinct-he shoots another character and increases his bet. Mostly, the action consists of sequences in the back of the limo (where he stages meetings with his doctor, various corporate officers and a New Economy guru) interrupted by various pit stops.

I think it looks like an amazing film.
You know its kinda a shame. People won’t see any of his work other then him as Cedric because of Twilight.

I actually think he is really talented.
He was AMAZING in Remember Me…

People are shiting their pants on Tumblr about this trailer…
Is this like…a series or something?

Conversely, a lot of people will blindly see it because Edward Cullen is in it and it’ll probably traumatize them for life.

Anyway, It looks mental, seems Cronenberg has gone back to his older style of film making.  I personally cannot wait.

“Conversely, a lot of people will blindly see it because Edward Cullen is in it and it’ll probably traumatize them for life.”

LOL. So true! But then they’re not real RPatz fans if all they see is Edward Cullen. I personally think he’s a much better actor then what he displays in Twilight…..but then Edward Cullen can be a pretty insipid character.

I love Cronenberg’s work, so I’m looking forward to seeing this! Just an added bonus that Robert Pattinson is in it, too. =]

I’m impressed that he’s doing a Cronenburg movie- that guy is a genius.

And importantly, that genius guy personally called Rob Pattinson to work for his movie.Says a lot when a genius recognized a talent.

I’m not a huge Rob fan, but I think he has potential to become a really good actor should he pick the right things. While he was always a little awful in Twilight (not that I’ve seen the more recent ones), but he was really good in Remember Me, and this trailer shows promise.

Looks amazing.  Very happy Pattinson has broadened his repertoire with movies like Bel Ami and this one.  Seeing him as the romantic lead had really gotten old. Can’t wait.
