One of Fox’s top executives is touting a very exciting rest of season 3 that will set up something special for Glee‘s season 4, according to sources.

TVLine.com is reporting that Dana Walden, co-chairman of 20th Century Fox Television, had this to say at this week’s TV Academy Foundation Summit:

“It’s exciting and is driving towards graduation and an exciting end to the season,”

Walden also says that the final couple of episodes of this season are “exciting” and “funny,” and to expect “a very powerful finale when viewers get to see what’s on the horizon for all of these characters that people love so deeply. We’re [building to] a very exciting launch into next season.”

When asked about season 4, Walden was pretty vague, but said that fans should expect great things:

“I see it as a continuation of Glee. I don’t define it in any one way or another. It feels like Glee to me. The ideas that Ryan [Murphy]‘s discussed with me feel consistent with this amazing series. It feels very consistent in a dynamic and entertaining way.”

Glee returns on April 10th, with the season finale set to air on May 22nd.

What are your thoughts on the rest of season 3 and on season 4?

I fail to see how they could make funny episodes after killing or at least seriously maiming one of the main characters. I highly doubt I’ll watch the next season. I’m kind of done with Glee.

I have to agree with Sarah. I mean, the writing this season has been so inconsistent. What happened to singing songs that were relevant instead of doing tributes for no reason or singing for no reason? And the plot lines are so twisted now. I’ll finish this season, but I’m not so sure about next season.

I’m curious is to what these unique ideas are for season 4 to keep our favourite characters on the show!

As a diehard Glee fan, I will watch no matter what. I love this show. It may not be perfect, but nothing is. I’m just excited that my favorite characters seem to be coming back to spend one more season with the fans. Everyone on the show seems very excited about Season 4, so I am too!!

I will probably still watch it but after every episode I shake my head thinking, “that could have been better.”

What if season 3 ended with like a tornado hitting Lima High. Ohio is in tornado valley. And this destruction postpones graduation. This brings back the seniors next season to graduate and stuff.

Season 3 I’ve completely loved and have no worries what so ever.
Season 4 though still freaks me out, mainly because as much as I try to avoid thinking about it: Klaine. But the way the exec talks makes me think that something is definitely up. I really think they’re going to continue to follow the lives of the graduating characters or something like that. If it was going to just be the same high school show, I think he would have said something like, “it’s the same formula that fans love” not that it “feels the same” Just speculation.

“It feels like Glee to me”: that sounds like it’ll be completely different from what we’ve seen till now, but they need to reinsure us, it’ll still be Glee.. I don’t know about this, I like change, but I’m a bit scared..

I hope next season has less breaks. We had three long breaks this year so it feels like even though there have been 16 episodes its like it has barely been on. Also i hope theyadd more conflict that lasts longer. They had alot of great chances for conflict this season with Santana coming out and then Sebastian’s bitchyness and that was all wrapped up in like the next episode. And im still hoping for the return of mean Sue.
