Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine spoke to E!’s Giuliana Rancic about Maroon 5′s next album, and he confessed to not reading The Hunger Games, despite having a song on the movie’s soundtrack. Check out clips from the interview below.

Are you excited for a new Maroon 5 album this summer?

  • Gary65

Wait……..what? How can you write a song inspired by the books if you’ve never read them? Unless of course one of the other band-members has and he wrote it.

    • Liderc

I imagine 90% of the bands that wrote songs for the movie haven’t read the books heh.

    • Hermione Granger

Maroon 5 didn’t write their song for the soundtrack, Glen Hansard did. If you look at the digital booklet though every other artist wrote their own song, so the others probably have read the books.

but let me tell you i love the song, is like he was there in arena or district 12… i found it perfect for the movie

  • Robert Lewandowski

I don’t have a problem with him not having read the Hunger Games. It’s not like he’s majorly involved in the project, the song is only related to the Hunger Games because it’s on the soundtrack. Sure the themes explored are likely similar, but he didn’t need to read the books unlike the actors and actresses who frankly needed to.
