Though a few of the songs have been released in full already, today Amazon Germany has unveiled 30 seconds samples for each song on The Hunger Games soundtrack!

You can visit this page to hear all 16 tracks.

Which one do you like most? Two of our favorites are Maroon 5′s Come Away to the Water and Taylor Swift’s Eyes Open (we learned several weeks ago Swift had two songs on the soundtrack).

The Hunger Games soundtrack will be released March 20th.

    ost is wicked!

I would have to agree with Taylor Swift’s ‘Eyes Open’ as one of the songs I would love to hear the full version of. Though, to be honest. I want to hear them all, haha. I just feel like Taylor’s voice is very compatible with the feel of the film.

  • empottz

The quality of this soundtrack has far exceeded my expectations. Every song sounds awesome.

  • Fawkes

    too much country..

Wasn’t “Come Away From the Water” on an early episode of Hunger Games chat?  Someone recorded it at a concert.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=121203055 Katie ‘ktb’ Bryant

It’s in Episode 7: Blushing.  About 12:20 in with a small introduction.

  • Hermione

    too much country…….

    • akacj18

i think you mean folk music. this is hardly country music.

  • Hermione Granger

I love The Civil Wars song. I love the ones by Birdy, Maroon 5, and The Low Anthem. I think Taylor’s is really catchy but it kind of reminds me of Katy Perry… I really don’t like the one by Glen Hansard. It sounds like metal or something! But still, really cool and diverse selection! Can’t wait!

    • Ilikecheesegirl

How on earth does anything by Taylor Swift sound like Katy Perry?!

      • Hermione Granger

Just this particular song! Her voice reminded me of the strong-then-high thing Katy does. I’m a fan of Taylor but not so much Katy… I like Taylor’s slower songs. This one sounded really really poppy. It’s still ridiculously catchy, I just hope she leans in a more Safe & Sound direction in the future (folk, alt. country) but that’s probably unlikely.

      • Hermione Granger

And I think the way she says “ending” especially sounds like Katy’s voice.

  • Sia

For some reason I don’t like it :(

  • Sia

I don’t like it most of it but the few would be Safe and Sound, Come away to the water, Lover is childlike, Abrahams Daughter and Nothing to Remember. Guess I have to wait to see the movie !

  • http://www.twitter.com/vthenerd Vladan Vukmanov

Will all songs be included in the movie? I love them all.

    • http://www.twitter.com/vthenerd Vladan Vukmanov

Plus: I wonder if they are in this order in the movie too – it kinda fits.

    • Eoin

No. This is sold separately. There will be a score during the movie. 1 or 2 songs may run during the credits.

  • http://twitter.com/HungerGames4all Rae

Dark Days by Punch Brothers really stood out to me.

  • http://twitter.com/HungerGames4all Rae

None of these songs will play during the movie because the score is separate. But Safe and Sound or Abraham’s Daughter will play during the credits!

    • Bernardotriana

I really hope you are right because I really hoped the movie to be with scores and not actual songs…

  • Alonninos

Could we start distinguishing to the Companion Album and the Official Soundtrack? It’s getting a bit confusing.

    • Alonninos

      *between

    • Maremarie

The music that will be playing in the background of the movie is called a score.  The songs that are separate from the the movie are called the soundtrack.

      • Guest

An official soundtrack can include both. In fact, most official soundtracks include both songs and score. Alonninos and many of us are annoyed that people are being led to believe that this is the official soundtrack, which it is not. Sometimes a film such as the Hunger Games and the Chronicles of Narnia will release a COMPANION album that has songs inspired by the book/film, but most of which will not appear in the movie. The official soundtrack this time around seems to only include the score, but usually it does include the end credits song and a couple that may not have made it. They probably left the usual end credits track (that is a song) off of the official soundtrack in order to encourage people to buy both the official soundtrack AND the companion album.

i liked Come Away to the Water better by Glen Hansaard, but it’s a beautiful song, it resonates with me the most. i also like Daughter’s Lament, it feels very old school and pure, which i like.

  • Guest

This in combination with the score leaked on tumbler (James Newton Howard’s work sounds AMAZING) has exceeded my expectations. Yes, there is a lot of “country” (it’s actually more like folk), but based on Katniss’ background and the type of culture alluded to in the books, that makes a lot more sense than pop. (Taylor Swifts’ new song is the only one that didn’t really click with me. It sounds too pop and doesn’t seem to fit with the rest of the album. Not that it’s not a nice song, it just doesn’t flow with the rest quite right.)

However, I don’t think many will show up in the movie, or at least I hope not. Too many songs would be distracting and hearing famous singers from our time breaks the magic of being transported to the future. To me, this seems more like an extra album, much like they did with the Narnia movies: you only heard two or three of them, and only in the end credits. I’m hoping that’s what they are doing here, as adding songs in the middle of the film would actually cheapen the quality of the production.

    • Beachboy13ds

where is the score on tumbler?   i NEED to hear it!

    • guest

I need to hear the score too! Link please?

      • Eoin

There is no confirmation of the real score which is why they may have not posted it.

        • Guest

I posted it below under Beachboy13ds’s request.

    • http://www.rebellionradiopodcast.com Hurley

You’re right, this IS an extra album. It was confirmed long ago that none of these songs will be featured in the film (credits aside).

As somebody said below, we really need to start calling this the ‘Companion Album’, and the one by JNH the ‘Soundtrack’ or the score.

      • Guest

Agreed. Good to know it was confirmed as I must have missed that.

  • http://twitter.com/Factuality Factuality

This sounds awesome (Daughter’s Lament excepted)! It’s gonna be tough to decide whether I want to buy the OST or the companion album…

  • Zack

Guys, this soundtrack WILL NOT be in the film. Andrew stated this during the latest podcast.

  • Maremarie

With all of this new information, I am floating.

  • http://www.rebellionradiopodcast.com Hurley

Kid Cudi’s song is actually really good.

  • TheRealHP

I’ve been waiting for the Official Soundtrack more than just about anything. I can’t wait to read the book while listening. Yess.

  • TheRealHP

THIS IS NOT THE FUCKING SCORE!

  • Julia

I love everything. The whole vibe is perfect.

  • Ilikecheesegirl

    Wow this sounds amazing

  • http://twitter.com/jthebanks Jay Banks

The Civil Wars and the Carolina Chocolate Drops – DIE. Soooo good.

  • http://twitter.com/Fluffsy S.J.

Ok first of all, everyone needs to stop calling it country coz it’s more folk than country! second, I think it’s absolutely PERRRRRRFECT for the story! It sets the mood for the whoooooole story it’s incredible, and they all tell the same story of the book in a different way, i’m amazed really!
My favs are like Andrew said, Eyes open ( i’m surprised this is the 2nd song i actually LIKE by Taylor) and The Civil Wars!

I think it’s all brilliant really!

  • Eoin

The only songs I had a problem with were The Ruler and The Killer and Take The Heartland. They didn’t sound right. The best were Safe and Sound, Come Away To The Water, Eyes Open, and Kingdom Come. The rest were all fine.

    • Hermione Granger

Wow… I agree with you exactly!

  • http://www.facebook.com/lauren.kay2 Lauren Glover

Wow. Come Away to the Water is amazing!

  • Hermione Granger

    http://music-mix.ew.com/2012/03/12/hunger-games-soundtrack-civil-wars-kingdom-come/

90 second clip from Kingdom Come!! Holy crap, it sounds LOVELY.

  • http://wizforum.proboards.com/ Melissa West

I love all the songs, what I’ve heard of them anyways. I didn’t know Taylor Swift had two songs on the soundtrack but I’m glad because I love both! The first ‘Safe and Sound’ is haunting where ‘Eyes
Open’ has a faster beat to it! I can’t wait for this movie!!!
