You may remember back in December when The Dark Knight Rises unseated The Avengers as the most viewed trailer on iTunes in 24 hours. 12.5 million people (give or take depending on repeated viewings) tuned in to watch the bat last December, but on Wednesday, enough people watched the new Avengers trailer for it to steal back the crown.

Marvel has just announced (via CBM) that the latest Avengers trailer has just risen above the previous trailer record-holder The Dark Knight Rises.

Marvel Studios announced today that its new trailer for this summer’s most highly anticipated movie, “Marvel’s The Avengers,” has been viewed over 13.7 million times in the first 24 hours of its debut, setting a new record for the most viewed trailer on iTunes ( http://www.apple.com/trailers ) and the iTunes Trailers app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

You heard right, The Avengers bested The Dark Knight Rises by over 1.2 million views. Which one do you think is better?

Which trailer is better?

The new Avengers trailer looks too much like something out of Transformers… with that said, The Dark Knight Rises is clearly going to be the better movie. While fun Summer entertainment Marvel isn’t even in the same league with Christopher Nolan.

While I want to see both movies so much, I prefer The Dark Knight Rises trailer. It’s less look! FIGHTS! EXPLOSIONS! PRETTY EFFECTS!

    Avengers will be way better

I believe in both whedon and nolan. But I think the kind of audience their movies lean towards shows that these are two different types of movies despite the fact that they obviously both involve superheroes.

Dark Knights final trailer will be number one again. Its pretty sad it takes 5 heroes to top one haha.

    Marvel > DC.

      Correction: DC > Marvel

          DC>Marvel

    Love them both equally.
And I’m sick of The Avengers being compared to Transformers.
At least we can divulge a sense of story from the trailer for a Joss Whedon actioneer featuring at least five giant egos, one badass villain, and a dozen secondary characters, as well as some great dialogue AND character moments.
With Transformers it’s ‘Okay, so, city at peril + model + robots + explosions + a couple more explosions + okay this is the last explosion we promise + people running and shouting = this trailer, okay we’re done’.
That said, I wouldn’t say I’m more excited for The Avengers. Nor am I more excited for The Dark Knight. I’m looking forward to each of them, equally, but for me, nothing this year trumps THG or The Hobbit. In the end we can all agree…2012 will be a GREAT year for movies.

      Amen!!

DKR will be a better movie for sure.  It’s impossible to have that many heroes in one film and create a cohesive story.  I think the Avengers will be good, but Dark Knight Rises will be epic.

Both the trailers were great though.  Although when the Dark Knight Rises trailer appeared at a movie I went to, I literally forgot what movie I was going to see because it was so good.

I have watched the Avengers last trailer 3-4 times though, mostly for Iron Man because he’s really the only big actor I’m wanting to see.  None of the other people have proven they can put out a good movie.  Thor was blaeh and he over-acts so badly.  Hulk has been a disaster multiple times and the other people are barely super heroes.

    As they say, “we’ll see.”

X men first class came pretty close to creating a cohesive story with many characters. While there were some extras or hanging characters, ones like xavier, mystique and magneto were handled wonderfully. So its not impossible.

      • Liderc

I thought x men first class was just terrible, so maybe that’s why I feel too many heroes can kill a movie.

        • moonshoespotter1712

:/ I loved first class. What about the other X-men movies?

          • Liderc

Absolutely loved the first and second X-men.  X-Men last stand was okay and I think we can all agree Wolverine was lolbad.

    • moonshoespotter1712

I think Chris Hemsworth is perfect as Thor, and his ‘overacting’ fits his character’s ‘foreign’ personality :)

  • mike

Since the question is “Which trailer is better,” I have to say the Avengers. With that said, I am much more excited for DKR, although the Avengers does look very good.

  • moonshoespotter1712

They both look great. I’m more excited for TDKR, because Dark Knight was pretty much perfect, but after watching the new Avengers trailer, I’m totally excited for that too. It looks fantastic. And of course there’s the Hobbit, but that’s irrelevant. :) Those 3 have got to make up my top 3 most anticipated movies this year.
