ABC casts its Belle for ‘Beauty and the Beast’ television show

Last week we learned who would play the Beast (Darius Campbell), and today we now know who will play Belle in ABC’s Beauty and the Beast.

The role has gone to Ruth Bradley, reports Deadline:

That makes for an Irish-Scottish pairing in the title roles of the project, a fantasy re-imagining of the classic Beauty and the Beast tale wherein an embattled princess, Grace (Bradley), discovers an unlikely connection with a mysterious beast, Shiro (Scottish singer-actor Darius Campbell), a mercenary bodyguard.

This project is not to be confused with Guillermo Del Toro’s Beauty and the Beast (starring Emma Watson) or The CW’s Beauty and the Beast pilot.

So cool! I think Ruth Bradley is an excellent choice for Belle. She has a classic beauty to her. I loved Ruth on the latest season of Primeval, so it’ll be neat to see her in something else.

My only concerns so far, though, is the amount of B&B’s being made currently: already got OUAT’s version, a CW version, Emma Watson’s version, and now this. Kind of all overwhelming and a bit much. Excited for all the different versions, but I’m kind of going to have to be forced into only picking one or two to actually watch.
