Watch now: First clip from ‘The Hunger Games’ featuring Katniss and Seneca released in HD!

Initially premiering on Entertainment Tonight, Lionsgate has now released the very first clip from The Hunger Games!

In it, we see Katniss in the Training Center impressing the gamemakers with her serious archery skills.

Wow, it looks like they even have her miss the first shot, go practice and then come back based on the arrow that’s already there when she goes to fire a the dummy. I was SURE they’d cut that part out. I’m amazed.

  I think it works well, actually. It sounds kind of like a demented kid’s toy. And hey, the Hunger Games are about kids killing kids… it kinda makes sense in my opinion.

I told myself i wasn’t going to watch it, but i HAD to! I loved it. The feeling stayed true to the book, and it makes me even more excited. The music at the beginning was a little odd, but i think we just don’t know the ‘context’ of it, if that makes since. It probably comes in differently at the beginning of the scene and won’t sound so weird. but when the music stopped, i loved the silence and the sound effects were awesome. 22 days!!!!!!

The music seems a little creepy, horror movie-ish, but this is the first scene that actually shows the mood they will take during the movie so i’m excited!

the music was all dissonant (im not sure that is the word im looking for) ithe style is typically associated with creepyness and meant to draw attention I think it was perfect for the moment i cant wait to buy the score along with he soundtrack

  I think in the books, President Snow and Cinna don’t really have Capitol accents either. One fan theory is that the Capitol accent is put on by socialites and people like Effie or the prep team, meaning it’s not a natural accent.

I am SUCH a big fan of this score, already. If anything, I was really hoping The Hunger Games score would be exceptional, bold, refreshing, unusual. Daring. Memorable.

That bell tune that is used in this clip has been bouncing around in my head ALL DAY. And I love it. I love the atmosphere it creates, I love the unusualness of it.
Clearly, James Newton Howard is not afraid of taking risks. This is.. wondererful, I admire him for this choice.
