You may remember that the night Lionsgate and Summit officially closed their merger deal, Lionsgate was quick to say that they’d love to release additional Twilight films or even a television series.

Now, Summit co-founder turned Lionsgate co-chair Rob Friedman is reiterating those statements.

He told reporters and analysts on a conference call this morning:

“If she (Meyer) wishes to do it, we’ll be there to support her” with a sixth film, said Friedman

Interestingly, Lionsgate seemed to hint that they’re working on a new vampire franchise:

Lionsgate executives on Friday did much to talk up the synergies between the two studios now that the brain trust behind the Twilight franchise is at work on the launch of the next possible vampire flicks franchise once The Hunger Games debuts next month.

Author Stephenie Meyer has made clear in the past that she thinks she’s finished with the Cullens for a while. Whatever she writes next, we’re sure she’ll show to Lionsgate.

“we’ll be there to support her” reads “We’ll be there to profit from her.”

Of course they would create 6th film , they don’t care what the film is aslong it makes them money.

i mean i wish she would just finish midnight sun and i’ll be happy no need for another book or movie

    It’s all about money, honey.

As long as the studio keeps making money…how does it matter how many books there are?

Hollywood these days is becoming too commercialized. But who cares, right? The main purpose of creating a film franchise is to only create a cash-cow for a studio, that’s it. It doesn’t matter even if the quality of the film is not up to the mark.

ALL film franchises have suffered because of this materialistic mindset of the studio execs, even ‘Harry Potter’ (‘Order of the Phoenix’ was actually set as a 3 hour film, but it was WB who ensured that it became a 2 hour film because, according to WB, 3 hours was ‘too long’. It didn’t matter to WB one bit that since ‘Order of the Phoenix’ was THE biggest book of the series, the film HAD to be of a greater length. And that turning a 3-hr-film to a 2-hr-film would have meant crucial dialogue, characters, or scenes getting edited out. No, none of these things really mattered to WB).

In short, what the studio says, is final.

I’d be happy with anything ! And the Host coming out I’m way excited for her future.

    • Lola

of course, you’d be happy even if Bella ended up sleeping with her own younger male relative…

Introducing…. the only way anyone related to the series will ever make anymore money.  Because after the fan craze is gone, everyone will look back and laugh at “hilariously bad movies.”
I would not be surprised if they didn’t even use a book for the next one if she won’t write it.

    Twilight needs to end!!

  • hermy

a vampire book series that they really should do as movies is the Vampire Academy series….these books are AMAZING and about a MILLION times better than twilight…maybe thats the new series, its supposed to be in the works…keepin hope alive!! :)

Ahah, good luck asking Pattinson about it.

I don’t think Pattinson would turn this down. Even so, there’s not much of a chance that Stephenie would write another book. In the past, it’s been made clear that she writes only for herself. I don’t think money is really influential to her.

ok I’m a fan of the Twilight Books….and the movies are decent at times and I do enjoy going to see them….but my gah no more! A TV series? That’s just nasty….eww….

I would argue TV series are a better way to go with Urban Fantasy/YA series. Films make too many cuts for my liking whether they be HP or Twilight, compare them to TVD and I think TVD comes out on top.

ahahahaha! this is funny!!! oh wait…they were serious! AHAHAHAHAHA THAT MAKES IT EVEN MORE FUNNY AND PATHETIC!!!
