Alan Rickman fans, rejoice. A BBC America blogger has made a list you can surely agree with: 5 Appalling Alan Rickman Oscar Snubs.

The list of course includes Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, but what else?

Rickman’s role as Hans in Die Hard topped the list:

Hans Gruber is where the legend of Rickman began, a role that remains iconic a quarter-century after the thriller pack theaters. Before you declare Die Hard “not an Oscar film,” note that the Academy has nominated worthy supporting actors in so-called “cheesy” blockbusters before (Fred Astaire in Towering Inferno, Alec Guinness in Best Picture nominee Star Wars, and Pat Morita in The Karate Kid, anyone?)

The three other films were Truly, Madly, Deeply, Sense & Sensibility, and Michael Collins. Read full explanations and see clips of Rickman’s work in these films over on BBC America.

Do you agree with the list? Many fans had hoped ot see Rickman nab a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Deathly Hallows – Part 2 this year.

Thank you, BBC America, for acknowledging the master of acting that is Alan Rickman.

If there was one thing I was sure DH was going to get a nomination for it was be Alan Rickman for supporting role.

    To hell with the Academy.

i think that the reason why alan rickman didnt get an oscar nom was because we as fans judge is acting as a series. He was brilliant i am not denying that and i wanted so bad for him to get an oscar, but maybe the reason why he didnt was because they were only judging from the one film (in which he was amazing, the prince’s tale was wonderful.)

I agree. While I adore Alan Rickman, and I think he was the perfect Snape, I don’t think the HP movies have really given anyone a good look at the brilliance that he is capable of. He should have been a shoo-in for Sense and Sensibility, though.

Alan was great, but i think what Evanna Lynch said at LeakyCon on Mugglecast was correct. We as fans understand and see the intricacies of Snape’s emotions when we watch the film, but the Academy who aren’t fans don’t see it.

I love Alan Rickman, but he has a habit of picking some real stinkers as far as indie movies are concerned. Now the role he definitely should have seen some Oscar love from was Sense & Sensibility; he was brilliant. The Snape character was amazing, but I never expected the Academy to recognize it.

He was marvelous in Sense and Sensibility, that is the role which I think should have won him an Oscar let alone an actual nomination, he’s seriously underestimated, he was very good in Michael Collins, and in Truly Madly Deeply, which is one of my favourite films, his performance was wonderful too.
