Today the British Academy Film Awards long list of contenders was revealed, and Harry Potter was included in 11 categories.

You can see the complete lists below. Nominations (the final five) in each category will be revealed this Tuesday, January 17th.

Does Harry Potter have a shot at winning any of these? Perhaps the British film community is more interested in recognizing the films considering they’re shot in their country. Sadly, Potter did not make the Best Film category.

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH I’M GOING TO THE BAFTAS, I’M SO EXCITED!!! Ahem. Now that’s out of the way, wow! I was not expecting them to do this well, and I was really surprised they recognised Alan Rickman. I knw he was good, but I didn’t think he’d get any credit.

Now to memorise this list of people, and see who I can “bump into” when I’m there… mwahaha :D

Nothing is right in the world if Alan Rickman doesn’t go home with the a supporting actor award.

    • Gateskp

AMEN!  Alan Rickman for Supporting Actor.  Or else.

  • Bernardotriana

wow 11 categories :D !!!! Too bad it wasn’t nominated for best film :(

    Bam! Alan Rickman!! :D

I reckon they have a good shot at all of the technical awards, there is something seriously wrong with the world if Stuart Craig doesn’t win for Production Design.

    • Anonymous

      ABSOLUTELY!!!!!

  • Zack

Well, you know what? The Oscars are losers and the BAFTAs are awesome.

You do realize these are not nominations right?

I love seeing HP recognized here! the BAFTA’s are the British version of the Oscars, and this is where HP really deserves recognition. If it wins a lot here, I’ll be very happy. This is second highest praise for a British product, and I hope it does well!

I expected the Bafta’s to be kinder to Potter, but this is really great! 11 times! I hope at least half of these will turn into actual nominations, and even better, wins. Plus, the other movies “nominated” all deserve to be there!

  • Jason

No Best Film, but considering these past weeks, WHO AM I to be picky? I swear, I just love you Brits right now. I’m going to move to your country as soon as possible.

  • Jkapolf

Wow, I’m really shocked that Melancholia got zero nominations considering how well it did at Canne and the European Film Awards.

    DAAAANG, GO POTTER!
why the hell are they not in the best film category though…?

OMG!! ALAN RICKMAN!! Deserves all the awards!

  • moonshoespotter1712

the help gets best film while HP does not? :(

  • Santiarof

crossing my fingers for tuesday, hp definitely deserves to be nominated for this awards, and actually winning some of them!!

  • Alohomora

I have a feeling The Iron Lady might win quite a few. I mean, it’s like The King’s Speech all over again, very British. I haven’t actually yet seen either though, so I won’t say if they deserve it or not.

Alan Rickman does definitely deserve that BAFTA. There’s a reason we love the adaptation part of The Prince’s Tale so much and it’s not just the amazing storyline.
