Local news reporter Russ Bowen has shared photos of what he says is the inside of a house in the Seam on the set of The Hunger Games.

While it’s unknown who’s house it is, it gives you a look at what we can expect to see on screen in District 12.

He wrote:

Inside Seam house (kitchen) post #hungergames shoot. Henry River. Whose house is it?

For those trying to figure out those last pics that house in Henry River was the only interior done inside except bakery

If this was the only house at the Seam they built with an interior, could it possibly be Katniss’? Any other theories?

at first i thought this looked way too sloppy, even for a ghetto (even the poor and destitute try to make life bearable, right?) , but then i remembered katniss mom was basically worthless for years, so this level if dishevelment might not be so far off. i’m intrigued.

I didn’t picture things being so bright, but it is fine I suppose.

Yeah, even in the trailer things seemed a little too brightly colored. I mean, the capitol was fine, obviously. But I think they could have dulled down the color in the seam and in the arena.

Why? There’s sun, there’s light. Third world countries have bright light. I don’t understand that logic.

        • BeenThere

I think that from a literary stand point, we associate the poverty and coal mining of District 12 with a gray color and dim light but in actuality that would come off as a little contrived in a film, so I’m cool with it :)

        • Hi

Hahahaha Thank you kevin! All this “it’s too bright” nonsense…it’s the world…there are colors. Just because there is a recent trend in fantasy to tint the heck out of every scene does not mean it has to be that way.

See I always thought that the houses were built by the Capitol. I figured they would make them bright and cheery just to show that they were giving them something “nice”. Of course they have been around a while and run down, but still with lighting these can look a lot more dreary then in full light of the pictures.

I think it needs more coal dust. Katniss said that Prim would clean their dad’s mirror every day after he died because he hated how coal dust would cover everything in the Seam

probably could have done that with cg and special effects

I’m guessing Peeta’s haus, if they show it.

  • Niki :)

Maybe it’s just me but it’s kind of bright…when I read the books I imagined everything gray, dark, slightly dirty. Like the walls a dirty gray or wood feel to them. My opinion could just be from the blue and purple though since I am not a big fan of that shade of blue and I don’t like purple on walls.

Keeping an optimistic view though, I don’t want to judge anything until I see the movie :)

      I know right!
and why is everything is this movie blue???

  • issad

    again with the blue.

Seems kinda bright… but I can’t really judge until I see the movie. =)

    • kevin

Just because they’re poor doesn’t mean there’s a cloud shadowing their life.

      • BarkingSpiders

I don’t mean everything has to look depressing (though the world they live in is reason enough to be depressed), but like someone said earlier, I always imagined everything to be a bit grimy and covered in coal dust.

I don’t think these pictures were taken during filming, and of course the crew would not have left things as they were during filming.

  • DreamNox58

Not what I imagined while I read but I won’t say anything against it until the movie comes out and I’ve watched it twice.

  • PotionsMaster007

i pictured the walls made out of stone. but whatever it’ll look better with special effects

  • PotterJay

In my view, the picture seem to be showing it to be quite spacious; I always imagined Katniss’ house to be a sort of two room hut type of house, seeing as she shares a bed with her sister. It almost looks as though it is mid-construction, or being re-decorated, but maybe it is just supposed to be run down. The bright colours don’t really bother me though- I can imagine Katniss’ father and Prim wanting something quite ‘nice’, even Katniss is largely pessimistic towards life

    • PotionWillow207

That doesn’t really affect how it will look on camera. Interiors that are constructed for filming are almost always built bigger than a normal house and are always bigger in person than they look on film. That’s because there has to be room for not only actors, but the camera(s), the lights, the crew, etc.

  • PotionWillow207

It says that this is one of the houses that were used for Seam filming, but I would imagine that it won’t look like this in the film. No where does it say that these pictures were taken during the filming process, and if they were taken afterwards I’m sure the film crew removed all vestiges of what it looked like. Otherwise this guy would never have been let in to take photographs.

Looks like Attawapiskat :( so sad (canadians will know what i’m talking about)
